Dimitri/Jim was an...
Dimitri/Jim was an exceptional guide. He is originally from Kalabaka and his deep love for Meteora and the surrounding region was present in every story he shared. The tour felt much more meaningful because of his passion, knowledge, and personal connection to the place. He made the landscape come alive, not only through historical information, but through local stories, memories, and small details that made the experience feel authentic and special. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Greece, and I left with a much deeper appreciation for Meteora ❤️

One of the highlights of our holiday
Although it was a very long day, the bus was comfortable, the driver and guide were both friendly and knowledgeable, and the lunch was enjoyable. There were sufficient comfort stops allowing you to purchase additional items. The Meteora Monasteries were amazing and the scenery stunning. Adequate time was provided to enjoy each experience however you do need a good level of fitness as there are a lot of stairs!

Wonderful tour with Lena and Crazy Nikos!
We had a tour with our guide Lena and our driver Crazy Nikos! What a terrific tour from two wonderful guides. We were very fortunate to be the only couple so we got a private tour. We visited three monasteries and many viewing points and got many great photos. Lena was extremely knowledgeable about the history and religious importance of Meteora and made sure we knew everything about each monastery we visited to maximize the time we had there. She also included some visits to views that were away from the crowds. In addition to driving, Nikos helped take some amazing photos! We were especially pleased that Lena and Nikos adjusted our tour to allow for my wife’s mobility issue. All in all this was a great experience and would highly recommend. Ask for Nikos and Lena specifically!

Great tour!
The tour was very detailed and had lots of opportunities to see different monastaries from the outside and go inside 3. Depending on the day will possibly depend on which you go in as they each close on different days. We got to see Great Meteora, Varlaam and St Nicholas. We stopped at different vantage points along the way too. Our guide Vasili was very knowledgeable and could answer so many of our questions after each stop.

Authentic and personal experience
Chris was truly exceptional. With deep local knowledge, he showed us places we would have never discovered on our own. What really sets him apart, though, is his genuine warmth—you don’t feel like a tourist, but like a welcomed guest. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and personal experience!

Seeing Meteora through the eyes of native born and raised guides.
There some unexpected issues such as the train strike that affected our return by train but the company handled everything for us, kept us infirmaded all the time, offered options, and got us the return bus tickets. Besides that everything was great! The guides Vasilis and Chris were a well of information, history, and curiosities. The small group tour is a wonderful way to go and my utmost recommendation. We had 3 tourists in the tour with Vasilis and just 2 of us with Chris (the guide) on the second day. The place is amazing and worth of every moment there. We stayed for 1 night, but if I ever come back, I will sure extend the trip for at least one more day, and do a couple of the hikes. We visited all the 6 monasteries that are still open, unfortunately I was only able to climb the steps to 3 of them...there are tons of them but my knees don't like them very much mowadays :-( . However, I still enjoyed the experience as much as if I had climbed. The paths, the views, the little hidden peak-a-boo perspective has lots to offer. I highly recommend Meteora Rocks to anyone planning to visit Meteora.

The place is magnificent...
The place is magnificent and magical, but the service does not include a guide, the driver will not go into the monastery’s and explain things. You must do your own research or add an audio guide.
Having said this we really enjoy the service of the driver.

A nice way to spend an afternoon in Meteora
Note that you only go inside one monastery, a small one at that (St Nicholas). And we weren’t told about the bus WiFi so it was only when reviewing the reservation just now that I saw that. But the views were great, and the church pretty (no pics allowed inside though). If you don’t want to do too much walking you see a lot for a little effort.

Highly recommended!
What a fun and enjoyable way to explore the wonders of Meteora and the monasteries.
The driver was exceptional at navigating the difficult driving conditions. Yannis, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.
I highly recommend this tour for a stress-free way to go around Meteora and get some local knowledge as well.

Amazing
Amazing day, informative and wonderful guide. What spectacular and spiritual place.
It is a very long day, we left our accommodation at 7am in Athens and arrived back at 10 am. So be prepared. Just a heads up to anyone that does do the trip from Athens, Athens station( Larissa) is up above the underground station and our train left from platform 8. Check your carriage and seat number to avoid confusion. They come round to scan your ticket.. Enjoy

Beautiful and entertaining
It was an excellent guide through the area which was a significant improvement on our own attempt to navigate the region. It was very manageable even in hot conditions and the walk was paced so that it was manageable for everyone. Chris the guide was a lovely guy who was very entertaining and was great with some of the kids on the walk. He was very knowledgeable about the history and environment of the region and answered several other questions we had regarding local transport things to do ect.

Amazing Sunset Hike Experience!
My husband and I did the sunset caves hike late June. It was an incredible experience for both of us, and ended up being one of our favourite experiences during our time in Greece.
Due to time constraints, we did the hike the day we arrived in Meteora (barely a day after we had arrived in Greece). I was a little bit worried that the hike would be too strenuous after almost 2 days of travel, and voiced my concern to Nicholas, our tour guide. Immediately, he assured me that it is okay to go slow and that health & safety was the utmost priority.
Nicholas had an abundance of knowledge and answered all kinds of questions we had about the area, monastic life, and even flora & fauna. We felt like we could ask him anything.
We saw the exterior of the hermit caves, the town, the monk prison, and the monasteries from interesting vantage points below. Before booking this tour, I read a comment that we wouldn’t be entering the hermit caves but passing by the outside. Nicholas did a great job demonstrating why this was as the sandstone was quite fragile (and the hermit caves seemed inaccessible).
The hike was often times uphill. Because we were hiking through the forest, it provided a decent amount of shade. However, we’d definitely recommend bringing adequate water and sun protection.
(Please note that my husband and I are mid-level active. The hike was not overly challenging but there was some level of exertion required.)
Thank you to Nicholas and the Meteora Trip team for such an awesome experience!
