My family had the most amazing time touring the Vatican Museum with our guide Alessia! She was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and kind! Alessia could answer all of our questions and shared so many interesting historical facts. We loved her positive personality and passion for Roman history and art. Definitely would recommend Alessia if you want the most amazing tour guide!

Well worth the expense and morning start. Our daughter lives here for education abroad and she has never seen it like we did- so empty with great access. The guide “Pam” was very knowledgeable and passionate with a thorough understanding of history and Catholicism. Without her guidance we would never have covered so much and learned all that we did. LOVED IT. Grazie.

Please be aware that the Sistine Chapel is a Holy Place and talking inside is strictly forbidden. In the Express Access to the Sistine Chapel Tour the first 30 minutes of the tour are held outside of the Museums in order to give you a comprehensive explanation before entering the chapel.
Vatican management maintains the right to delay the opening of the Sistine Chapel for religious reasons, in this case the guide will modify the itinerary and extend your visit of the museums to ensure you make the most of your time before access to the Sistine Chapel is permitted.

From January 12 through March 31, the Vatican Museums will be carrying out special conservation work on Michelangelo’s Last Judgment inside the Sistine Chapel. During this time, a scaffolding structure will cover the entire Last Judgment wall. The Sistine Chapel will remain open and fully accessible, but this specific artwork will not be visible during the restoration period. Thank you for your understanding as this masterpiece receives important care.

We did 4 tours and this was my favorite. Not only because it was the Vatican - but because our guide was so good. David was fun and engaging and pointed out so much more than I thought we would see. David showed us the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel while we waited outside and gave us detailed descriptions of each piece and shared interesting historical stories. The early 7:30am access was such a privilege - the museum was almost empty and the Sistine chapel was not crowded.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The meeting location was good but the organization was a little chaotic. We thought the meeting place would be convenient because it was a coffee shop but it's a little misleading because ALL the tours meet there. (Coffee shop is expensive 35€ for 2 coffees and 2 donuts). They do provide you with a headset. The quality of the sound wasn't great. Also it eludes to "you're going to be one of the 1st in at 8am. You're not. You go in with everyone else and you're in the same line as everyone else. The only reason I gave the tour 5 stars is because the tour guide was VERY knowledgeable which helped with understanding what you're looking. While I thought the price was not really in line with what we got, I would book again because walking through there without any explanation would definitely be a mistake.

LIV/Viator Screw UP!!

We Purchased the “Express Access to Sistine Chapel Tour - MAX 6 PEOPLE | with Private Option” from Livtours through Viator for 7:30 am. We Got up at 5am, UBER’d across Rome only to find that Liv/Viator had no record of us and did NOT have a guide for us even though we had our printed Viator voucher. We received NO notification of any problem until we arrived and checked in at the meeting point. At that point, Liv tours offered a GROUP tour of the Vatican library/ Sistine Chapel at 4 pm that day & a refund of half our fee. This meant that in order to spend 20 minutes jammed shoulder to shoulder with 100’s of people in the Sistine Chapel, we had to cancel our afternoon visit to Orvieto, UBER back and forth across Rome again and spend 2 hours touring the Vatican Library en route to the Sistine Chapel. We did it, but it was highly undesirable and Liv/Viator’s treatment of us was totally unacceptable. Anyone who is considering booking a LIV/Viator active needs to beware that you may get canceled without notification!! I would caution anyone to think VERY carefully before booking a Liv/viator tour.

This tour exceeded our expectations! A visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel was on my husband’s bucket list and Paola, our tour guide, made it so memorable for him! It’s like Liv Tours booked the entire place for us, lol! No crowd, it was so quiet! — and my pictures will prove it! (The picture showing a long line of people — that was the line we saw right after our tour! And that was only around 10am!) Seriously, the best decision we made to do the earliest time possible! If you really want to enjoy the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour, I am highly recommending to book your tour with them! They respond to inquiries super fast and they are very friendly! Meeting place is just in front of the Vatican Museum entrance (in front of a Cafe shop) and you wont miss your tour guide. Meeting time is at 730am and Im telling you right now, this is the best time to go. The earlier, the better! Paola, thank you so much for making our Italy trip a vacation we will never forget! You were the best narrator! You literally took us to another world! You were full of life! Your emotions when you tell stories really blew me away! Liv Tours, thank you so much! Paola is the best! Excellent tour with a superb guide. Sara Neapolitani had incredible knowledge and made our experience wonderful. Highly recommend this tour to avoid the crowds later in the day which can make the Vatican tours unpleasant.

Alex was an excellent guide and very accommodating. My mom needed some extra help and it was great to have someone who knew their way around so well. He was super informative and was able to give us all the information we needed to fully understand what we were seeing. An hour and half might seem long but it is "express". If you want to spend more time in the museum or learning more about what is there this is not the tour for you. But it was perfect for us, it was a last day in Rome and we were able to see the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's.
