Haitham was very knowledgeable - I enjoyed learning from him about the history of the Colosseum and the Forum. It was a fairly long tour on a hot summer afternoon, and he was very patient to provide sufficient time for photos and breaks as needed.

Our tour to Colleseum and Roman Forum

Manohar_V, Aug 2026
Our tour was great. Our tour guide Valerio explained everything in great detail, adding lots of interesting facts from his archeological studies and experiences. We learned a lot about the Colleseum and its history. I would certainly recommend this tour and the guide to all those who visit Rome.

Thank You Heythm for a Memorable Experience

Terence_R, Aug 2026
Heythm was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable about all the various aspects of each of the three areas we visited, ie, Colosseum, Palatine Hills and the forum. As a previous archaeologist, he brought the experience to another level. He was friendly, engaging, and had patience. We would truly recommend him to anyone who wanted to take the tour.

Elevator to go up in the Coliseum but a lot of steps to go down Pantheon Hill in the museum were wonderful and our guide was excellent. Very very helpful since I have a walking stick

melissa_b, Aug 2026
We really liked the tour. Although we were surprised we did not get more time in the Coliseum. Our tickets said the floor and I thought that meant going to the flour was special. Instead we were not able to walk anywhere else. But the rest of the tour was great.

Fabulous tour

Amy was a fabulous tourguide and very knowledgeable. Despite the heat and humidity we still had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!@

Great tour!

Carla_B, Aug 2026
We booked through Viator but the tour was ran through City Wonders. Viator is very good at giving you all the details you need before your tour like exact meeting points, time and things you might need. Our tour guide name was Valerio who has a degree in Archeology so his knowledge was extensive, great English, he even brought physical images of how things used to look. He was very good at keeping us in the shade in a hot sunny day while walking and giving us explanations of sites. He could be a bit cynical of certain things but that’s ok not need to take things personal or get offended. He was very nice. And overall the tour was great, we enjoyed it, we got to see everything we wanted through it. I will always recommend to pay for a tour because you get to skip lines and go in faster plus your tour guide knows what he is doing. Summer time I recommend light clothing, a water bottle there’s plenty of spots to refill and sunscreen something I forgot and got a nice sunburn.

You won’t regret

Manuelita_S, Aug 2026

Colosseum and Roman Forum Tour

Christine_B, Aug 2026
Our first guided tour of our trip to Rome, Italy—and what a great way to start! We met our tour guide, Giorgio, at the designated meeting location, and right away we found him to be very well-spoken and easy to understand through the headsets provided. He kept our interest throughout the tour by sharing fascinating history and stories about the Colosseum. Who knew the movie Gladiator would be such a relatable tool for helping everyone understand what actually took place in the Colosseum? Giorgio did a great job connecting the history to something familiar, which made the tour even more engaging. It was a very hot August day, so Giorgio made sure to keep a pace that everyone could comfortably follow. If you're visiting Rome in the summer, be sure to bring plenty of water and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. Thank you, Giorgio, for a great day and an excellent introduction to the history of the Colosseum!

This was a great tour!...

Absolutely incredible tour. Worth every penny. Spent 3 weeks in Europe and this was my favorite tour. The tour guide, who I am having trouble remembering his name, was absolutely amazing, extremely informative, and very attentive to the group. I would highly recommend booking with this tour company.

Great Rome tour with Haitham

Shanan_L, Aug 2026
Haitham is a great tour guide with extensive historical knowledge. It was hot and there is a lot of walking but it is worth the experience to see the sites and learn interesting facts.

Amazing Tour - Amazing Guide

Haydee_D, Aug 2026
We had an amazing tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill! Our tour guide Sylvia was absolutely wonderful—friendly, knowledgeable, and so engaging. She brought the history to life and made the entire experience interesting and enjoyable. We learned so much and really appreciated how Sylvia took the time to explain everything and answer all of our questions. It was a fantastic experience and definitely a highlight of our time in Rome! Highly recommend this tour and our amazing guide Sylvia!

Well worth the money

Alice_M, Aug 2026
Silvia was our guide and she knows all about the colosseum, the forum, and the Palatine Hills. The best view, the best fountain to refill your water, and the best spot to catch a breeze during our very hot visit. Knowledgeable and professional. I truly enjoyed the tour and felt I learned a lot from her.

My wife and I had planned...

Al_B, Aug 2026
My wife and I had planned our first and only trip to Athens and Rome in July of 2026. This trip took a year to plan and finance. One of the major sites we longed to see was the Colosseum. It was definitely on our bucket list. We planned this excursion with Viator. It was their Rome: Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill Guided Tour Arena Access Semi Private 3 hour. Viator had informed us that City Wonders would act as their coordinators and service the excursion. On July 27th we took a car service from our hotel in Rome to the Viator/City Wonders meeting site. We arrived a half hour early and were told by a City Wonders representative to wait. At the time City Wonders was handling other excursions that were meeting for the Colosseum. We waited. Five minutes before the excursion another representative from City Wonders told us our tour was cancelled because the guide was sick. I was furious and explained that this would be our only time to see the Colosseum could he please place us with one of the other tours exploring the Colosseum. He told me that was not possible. He told me that City Wonders would call me regarding a refund. The representative proceeded to hand me the admittance tickets for the Colosseum which would not be honored for another 90 minutes. The representative apologized and left us standing in 90 degree Farenheit temperature. We walked around the site aimlessly viewing the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill in weather that was extremely uncomfortable. I did receive a call from City Wonders and they offered me a 50% refund. I was livid and explained to them that they ruined our chance to visit and learn about the Colosseum and we would never have another opportunity to go. He said he was sorry, but 50% was there policy. I demanded a full refund which I believe under the circumstances was the absolute least my wife and I should be compensated. I might as well talked to the wall; however, to add insult to injury let me share the policy of Viator/City Wonders on their position if you cancel on them. "You can cancel up to 3 days in advance of the experience for a full refund." They go on to say, "If you cancel less than 3 days before the experience's start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. Any changes made less than 3 full days before the experiene's start time will not be accepted." If you are planning any excursions with a business that sets it standards considerably lower for themselves than they do for you please beware. I am sure that there are much better choices than Viator/City Wonders if you are planning an excursion. My recommendation for you is to pick a company that has your best interests at heart and deals with you on a fair and equal basis. In my opinion and first hand experience Viator/City Wonders is not that company.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Dear Client, Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and frustration caused by the last-minute cancellation of the guide. We understand how meaningful this visit was, especially after so much planning, and we’re sorry we were unable to provide the experience you had booked. We truly regret that this impacted such an important part of your trip. The compensation on the total amount of the booking is decided depending on the tickets cost and the difference in price with the guided tour. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. We are here to assist you.

Best Tour Guide Emanuela

Gina_R, Aug 2026
Emanuela was a thoughtful and considerate tour guide. She made sure in between destinations we were in the shade. Very knowledgeable.

Great Tour - so hot!

Sandy_B, Aug 2026
This was a great tour with a wonderful tour guide, despite the extreme heat! I had to sit out for part of it because of the heat but the tour guide (forgot his name) was very attentive to me, which I appreciated.

August is super hot. Go a different month. Otherwise the tour guide Silvia was wonderful and very knowledgeable

Start of tour was well...

Steve_H, Aug 2026
Start of tour was well organised - headphones and ticket allocation. Our guide Emmanuela introduced herself and got to know everyone by first names. There were nine in the group. She was very knowledgeable and very considerate - making regularly stops for us to refill water bottles. Her explanations of the history was always put into context and at times quite amusing. We booked the tour for 11:15 - which given the heatwave in Rome at the time was a bit of a challenge for the two children in our groups and to be honest for the rest of us as well. However it was Emmanuela’s only tour of the day - so glad we went with her. I would recommend this tour and this company.

Very Disappointed, book elsewhere

Newton_C, Aug 2026
We were removed from the tour for the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Forum along with two other families because the company did not print tickets for any of the kids. We lined up, bought tickets on our own and they still would not let us join the tour. Very disappointing as this was the main tour we were looking forward to and Viator or City Wonder did not make any attempt to fix other than a refund. I would be hesitant on using either in the future. I would book directly with a different tour guide.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Dear Newton_C, We sincerely apologize for this disappointing experience. We understand how frustrating it must have been to miss the Colosseum. The ticketing issue should not have happened, and we regret that our team was unable to find a suitable solution for your family on the day. I see a full refund has already been requested to Viator for your booking. We appreciate your feedback and are reviewing what went wrong to help prevent this from happening again.
