Itinerary

The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Vatican Museums are visited by huge numbers of people each day, but with this handy Vatican tour—which includes priority access—bypass the worst of the crowds by entering with your guide through an exclusive entranceway.

The halls and rooms of the museum complex comprise miles of historic art and antiquities, but you go straight to the highlights, such as the Gallery of the Tapestries, the Gallery of the Maps, and the Pinecone Courtyard.

Continue to the Sistine Chapel, home of two of the most important frescoes of the Italian Renaissance. Learn about Michelangelo’s "The Last Judgement" and "The Creation of Adam" from outside the chapel (no talking inside), then head on in to admire the frescoes in person.

Follow your guide into St. Peter’s Basilica to see "La Pietà," another Michelangelo masterpiece, and learn about Bernini’s bronze altar. You can stay inside St. Peter’s Basilica after your tour ends, or head outside to St. Peter’s Square, where your tour ends.

On Wednesdays, due to the Papal Audiences, access to St Peter's Basilica is not possible in the morning.

Our tour guide, Fabio, was engaging and knowledgeable. It is a lot to see in a crowded space, but he knew exactly where to go (including shady spots) to make sure we had a good experience. He mixed in time for us to wander with more guiding.

Amazing!! I am struggling to remember our guides name (maybe Sara) but she had been doing this tour for 10 years and studied at the University to a level that meant you could have spent 20 hours wuth get and still been learning! Her knowledge of every item in the Vatican museum was off the charts, her love and history of the Sistine Chapel was unmatched and her knowledge of St. Peter’s Basilica and personal accounts of her time there was special to hear. This was a great great tour!!

Our tour guide Silvia was awesome. Favorite part of the tour was St. Peter’s Basilica, there was so much to see, and was able to get my bead bracelet blessed by a Roman Catholic Priest. Could have spent more time in the Basilica but the heat of August was too much and exhausting The Sistine Chappell was so very impressive, a humbling experience, just extremely hot due August temps which also had increased holiday travelers. We were told not to speak while in the Chapel, it would get noisy at times, so just remember “SILENCE” is strictly observed. Lastly the museum started the tour, last opportunity to use the restroom before the tour. FYI Silvia was a wealth of information, so we were fortunate to have her as our guide. Cioa

The tour operator staff did not start the sign in process until after a few minutes past the start time. Most people had been there for 30 minutes. Since we were told to be there 20 minuets before. Consequently we were caught behind other groups in a long line. This tour was billed as one that started before the crowds. The guide was finally told to cut the line which helped a little. As a consequence we had very little time in the museum. The Guide was probably knowledgeable but was all over the place in his presentation.

Our tour guide Christian Savona was absolutely brilliant. He showed so much enthusiasm, knowledge and genuine love of what he does. Christian was extremely friendly, getting to know all of the group and taking time to adjust to everybodys needs. It was 38° and he remained so professional and helpful throughout despite us all struggling with the heat. I would absolutely recommend using this company, and having a guide around these amazing sights. Thank you again Christian for making it such a beautiful experience.

Very nice overview of the Vatican, museum, Basilica, and Sistine Chapel. Tour guide very knowledgable. Our only regret was we didn’t get much time to wander the Museum and the guide spoke good English but had a thick Italian accent. Also, a couple Of us in the group didn’t like the ear phone piece and had trouble keeping it in place.

We visited Rome on a cruise stop and the company was easy to work with and very accomodating. It was super hot in Rome that day, over 100 degrees, and we were able to see everything on the tour. Our guide managed multiple challenging situations and made it enjoyable for our whole group. One person passed out in the Sistine Chapel and our guide managed everything very well and never missed a beat. Save some money on your cruise excursions and take the train to Rome. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide, Eliza, was absolutely amazing! Her knowledge of Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel surpassed anything I expected. She brought the history, artwork, and story behind the paintings to life in a way that made everything come together when we finally saw the Sistine Chapel. Seeing it in person was overwhelming and incredibly emotional, and Eliza’s incredible knowledge made the experience even more meaningful. City Wonders was incredibly organized for how crowded it was at the Vatican. Jessica was our guide and not only was she very knowledgeable, she was very kind and helpful with questions and pointing things out. Excellent tour with Laura from City Wonders. Her knowledge was exceptional (I don’t know how she remembered everything). She also kept a close eye on the group to make sure we were together. Be prepared for huge crowds, though. We took an 8:30am tour and were already jammed packed like sardines everywhere we went.
