Great adventure!

Great experience from beginning to the end. We started the trip with spotting a monk seal in the harbour and then spending time watching a very close distance pilot whales pod for a while. The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable which made the experience even more interesting.

Our Tour Was MUCH BETTER Than Expected!

Our tour guide, Diogo was absolutely amazing, he was super patient when our ship’s this disembarkation process was taking a long time. Diogo gave us so much information about the island; he is a perfect ambassador for Madeira/Funchal. Diogo even made it a point to stop at a little produce stand to buy us a couple of locally grown bananas, which by the way were delicious! . He gave us plenty of time as we explored the different locations - more time than we even need it. We did not feel rushed at all, and he gave us his undivided attention. The air-conditioning in his vehicle worked perfect, and his van was spotless. We felt like he was a genuinely nice man with a positive look on life. Thank you Diogo!

Fun afternoon on the Santa Maria do Colombo!

This was our second trip on the Santa Maria do Colombo having enjoyed it so much the first time! The boat trip was lovely and relaxing along the coast from Funchal to Cabo Girão and once there we were given the opportunity to swim for half an hour or so. On the way back we were offered a glass of Madeira and a slice of bolo de Mel, which was a nice touch. A great afternoon was had by all and we’ll look forward to doing it again in the future!

A local who knows

The standard itinerary included several places that we had already visited earlier in the week but Luis was happy to look at my list of desired stops and get us to each of them on a custom tour. We promptly emailed with me before I left for my trip, so we could iron out the details of our tour. He knows the island incredibly well, and also took us to his special places. He carefully maneuvered the challenging local roads, timing our arrival to avoid lines and crowds, for an absolutely terrific day. His recommendation for lunch was great and he even brought us to a small shop in his hometown for an afternoon mango gelato and smoothie. Go with a local who knows. Spend your day with Luis.

Fantastic Day!

There was a little confusion about the pick up point but we finally found it within the time period given but our driver had left us. We had to call because there was no response to the messages sent and luckily another driver had recently left and turned around to get us. So with all that confusion completed, we had a wonderful time with Tito in our orange and black 4x4 tour. He was very experienced and knew all the ins and outs of the city including best shops and restaurants. Tito was an experienced driver who thrilled us with his short cuts, humor and knowledge of the area. Buckle up for a exciting adventure! The Piscina naturales pools were beautiful and so refreshing to swim in! Highly recommend! Tito ended our trip with a sweet spot, Justine’s, where we tried local drinks, Poncho and Brandy. Highly recommend the poncho passionfruit!

Book it! Long line of hikers waiting for taxis after hike.

Our driver was on time, professional and provided clear directions at dropoff for entrance to hike, and pointed out the area to watch sunrise prior to hike. He was on time for pick up, and provided history about the island on our return to Funchal. There was a line of people waiting for a taxi in parking lot after hike. Its worth it to guarantee a quick return trip after the 5.7 mile hike!

Great Morning in Funchal

It was a great excursion. The crew is very dedicated and really knows their stuff about marine biology and was able to answer questions in detail. It was a bit difficult to find the whales. But in the end, we discovered a whale family and were able to observe them for about half an hour. In general, I can recommend the sunset tour, because even if you don't see any animals, the view is spectacular.
