Our guide was a student at the university, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. As a solo traveler, this was a great way for me to see Funchal and meet other people

I highly recommend doing a walking tour when you visit a new city to really get a feel for the history and learn the little secrets that as a tourist you would be unaware of. Great to know this is offered by the students union with monies from the tours going to them. Guide could have been a bit more knowledgable but for a volunteer not bad. Could have covered more of the modern history of Funchal than it did.

A good tour to start the holiday ! We were in a group of just 4 people, our guide was a young french student who spoke very good English. She was very knowledgeable and showed us many interesting details which we would otherwise not have noticed.

Money from these walks goes to a good cause, it supports students at the University. Our tour guide was not a student, but a volunteer. He was from the Netherlands. I think it would have been more lively if the tour had been from a local.

Great tour takes 2 hours Funchal is hilly so make sure you have good walking shoes on. Guide was very informative and the tour helped us get our bearings

I found this informative and the route was easy given how hilly Funchal is. The guide was personable and there was a wine tasting at the end. The guides are students, so you're supporting a school. Just be aware that they are not likely to have the perspective of a native - my guide had lived in Madeira 3 months.

Good experience with a very knowledgeable guide. However the point of meeting although known locally as the Jesuits College, is actually the University of the Jesuits on the side entrance and this should be made clear on the instructions of where to meet.
