Continue the journey towards Cabo Girão and admire the wine fields, used for the production of the famous Madeira Wine. Reach the highest maritime cliff in Europe, and the second highest in the world, Cabo Girão at 580 meters high. Follow the west coast until you reach Ribeira Brava, and the Encumeadas viewpoint, at 1007 meters. Admire the wonderful landscapes both on the coast and on the island. Proceeding, you will cross the plateau of Paúl da Serra, the largest plateau on the island of Madeira. Stop for a snack in Porto Moniz, a famous spot in the north of the island, known for its natural pools. Day in Funchal/Madeira

We had a lovely day with our guide, Emanuel. Because it was a Sunday and the toboggans were closed, we were taken to see the beautiful Nun’s Valley and other breathtaking sights. Our cruise had us in port for 2 days, so we took the cable car up to see Monte’s Garden and Palace on our own. The toboggans were running that Saturday but we didn’t want to wait 2 hours in line.

Fabulous day trip in Madeira

Andreas is the owner of SafariCo, the tour company. He was a great tour guide, a native of Madeira and knew everything about it. We visited the Skywalk, Porto Moniz, Fanal Forest, drive through some bumpy roads through the middle of the island, fun day. I highly recommend SafariCo.

Great walk with fantastic views

Brilliant experience. The weather for us was just perfect. Being above the clouds was phenomenal. It wasn’t too busy, views were ‘wow’ and then we got to sit and watch the sun set. Driver Luis was great and funny. Only thing that would have made it a little better was we were in a small minibus with two other couples and we were sat at the back and our friends were sat at the front so when Luis was chatting about the island and tips of what to do or foods to try we couldn’t hear what was being said so had to rely on friends to relay back to us, But other than that, we loved it. The pictures on the internet do make the walk look more scary than it is in real life ! FYI

Best thing we did. You will love it

Ronaldo our driver and guide was equal parts charming, funny, knowledgeable and passionate. He clearly loves what he does and that shows in how he talks about the history of the island. I loved how he gently quizzed us on what he had told you already and involved everyone in the jeep. Things to remember, Embrace and Enjoy; be part of the tour. Take some cash with you as the first stop is cash only. Be prepared to take a load of pictures. And finaly if he asks you funny roads or normal the answer is always funny

Wow wow wow

The most incredible hike! I've done a fair few big hikes in my time and this was up there with the best! I can't recommend enough how much you need to do this trip!!! Our guide was Pedro, he was friendly, professional and an overall great guy. You get plenty of time for the walk itself and the transfers were smooth and easy.

Horst (sorry if not spelled right!) and Fransisco were great guides. Horst knew everything you could possibly think to ask him and was so passionate about the animals. I think he explained in detail about everything we saw in about 5 !? Languages. I am quite nervous on water but I felt really safe and secure on the tour, especially because the guide was so knowledgable about the animals. It was such a great tour and experience. Half Day Island Tour

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Madeira! The half-day private island tour was the perfect way to experience so many of the island’s breathtaking viewpoints and beautiful landscapes without feeling rushed. Our guide, Luis, was fantastic. He was incredibly friendly, fun to talk to, and had an impressive knowledge of Madeira’s history, culture, and natural beauty. Every stop came with interesting stories and insights that made us appreciate the island even more. Banana, to vine, to nuns valley

This trip was a last minute decision (to avoid a football match) for mother and son. We were met at our hotel by Luis who gave us a personal tour with a mix of coast and forest views. He was a true gentleman and was an encyclopedia of information on Madeira past and present. We toured ports, view points, picnic and forest areas, a place for coffee and poncha before a fast run on the motorway back. I made my decision to book after an earlier review said don't hesitate in making a reservation. It was the best advice and I echo the message..... go on, book now. You really will enjoy it😀

Not for the faint hearted but we loved it

Madeira is advertised as a beautiful island of mountains, sea, valleys and levadas coupled with beautiful scenery. When researching how best to get a taste of all this we felt that tarmac roads and cushioned seats wouldn’t let us experience the true Madeira.
