Michael was an awesome instructor who had my husband and I surfing on our very first attempt! We have never attempted surfing prior to this occasion. He was very patient and explained everything clearly. The GoPro was a great addition and we love watching the videos. It was a great time celebrating my 50th birthday. His prices are unbeatable because of his teaching abilities, private lesson, and GoPro link. He provided the shirt to prevent rash, reef shoes, and the board. Ala Moana Beach was a perfect beach to learn on for our first time. It was not crowded like Waikiki Beach and the waves are small so you don't have to worry about falling and being held underwater by a wave. This is a must book experience if you are interested in surfing!

Amazing first time surf lesson! We were 3 women ages 17, 19, and 46 who had zero prior knowledge or skills and we ALL ended up feeling confident and catching some great waves! The instructors (we had 2 for a total group of 4) were so kind and encouraging. Wish we had more time to go back again for another lesson. Mahalo!!!

had such a great time at this surf class! I was a little nervous beforehand, but the explanations were incredibly clear and easy to follow, which totally put me at ease. Really loved this experience. Waikiki surfing is a bit overwhelming, so this experience without the crowds really did deliver. Ryo was fantastic with the kids (ages 10 and 11) - and they loved him. He taught them well, and had fun with them, and they both got up and surfed and had a blast! A million stars!

Awesome lesson. Just my two daughters, so very individualized attention to coaching. My daughters were able to get up on first try, thanks to Ryo's coaching. They provide pin location, so you know where to meet, overall great experience.

Rio was a great instructor for our two kids (12 & 18). Careful safety briefing then thorough land lesson to learn proper technique for laying on the board, paddling and of course standing up. Rio gave them goals of being able to stand up, then being able to ride for 10-15 seconds, then being able to catch a wave on their own. I don’t think they got quite all the way to 15 seconds but they got all three goals otherwise. As parents we were thrilled that they had a great time and started on the road to learning a new skill. Thanks Rio, they had such a great time with you that they took rental boards out two days later and spent a couple of hours putting your lessons into practice! We can’t wait to get the GoPro videos from the lesson!

This was the best! The instructors were so knowledgeable and patient with the lessons. John was amazing! I was a bit worried about going out so deep and actually being able to surf John went out of his way to make sure I was safe & comfortable. Ryo was also very helpful with catching waves and encouraging when trying to stand up on the board.

I like the fact that since I have never been surfing before we were able to surf in a shallow area without sharks. Mike did a excellent job instructing me and I was able to get in a couple of rides before I was done.

My brother and I are 57 years old. I have take surf lessons twice a few years ago in Waikiki. My brother has never been surfing before.
Instructor had only 2 students. Was able to maximize time in water.
Instructor was fantastic. Explained everything very well. Not only were we both able to get up for the first time, we both were able to identify and correct the mistakes we were making when we fell or could not get up.
The price was reasonable and included GoPro video.
Parking fills up quickly. Plan to arrive early.
As a resident of Oahu, I have several friends and family that have visited and want to try surfing. This is now my first choice.

We had the best experience with Mike and his team, John and Preeya. Our 10 year old daughter was up and riding waves her 2nd run. We couldn’t recommend this group more. Looking forward to seeing what the GoPro clips show.

My two 19yr old grandaughters took their first surf lessons and they loved it. There was one instructor for the two girls so lots of personal attention and coaching. They both were able to stand up multiple times and felt so accomplished. Definately would recommend. The added bonus was seeing the go pro video of their first time surfing. Definately will go again they loved it.

Owner Mike was excellent, professional, friendly, and organized. Our surf instructor Ryo was personable and gave clear, effective instructions The location was great and not crowded. The provided reef shoes to protect against coral were a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend

Our kids, ages 12 and 16, had a blast and now surfing is their new favorite hobby thanks to Mike and Ryo at Surfing Sensei! The GoPro video is awesome and we've watched it countless times to relive the fun. Our kids want to surf again next time we are in Oahu and we'll definitely book with Mike again.

They offer their shirts and shoes so no need to stress about that! Was able to find parking at 9am on a Sunday-Barely. Early April and the water felt chilly at first but was just fine as we were working so hard. Everyone was able to stand up and surf a little! Salt water definitely clears out the sinuses. Need a lot of arm strength. Those out of shape will get tired. 2 instructors in the water and one was totally with our sn 12 yo who just laid on the board on his stomach the whole time. But the other instructor was fully able to help the other 4 of us and no one else was in our group. Loved it and so proud of us. Instructors were so nice!!!

Ryo was an excellent teacher. He was very patient and great to talk to. Everyone in our group was able to stand up on the board during the session. This was the perfect introduction to surfing, and I’m so happy we booked it. Added plus of it not being crowded and getting the GoPro footage. I highly recommend.

Preeya was an amazing influence and instructor! She was so awesome! My daughter got right up and loved the whole experience! She went an rented a surfboard the next day and went surfing! The Go Pro videos we will cherish forever!

John and Rio were fantastic! It was a beautiful day and they made it even better. Every member of our family got up on the surfboard under their instruction. My instructor, Ryo was amazing!!! Super helpful, funny, and knowledgeable. I got to meet another instructor, Preeya, also super awesome :) I had to reschedule my lesson a couple days before and mike accommodated my schedule and helped me out without any trouble. I 100% recommend this place!!!!! I honestly feel like this place could charge a lot more for what they provide. They have a great team of instructors and you wont find any other places with free go pro videos!!! Thank you!!!!!!!

I had such a great time during this surf lesson. It was my first time ever surfing and I felt really prepared going into the water. Our instructor Rio was amazing and super attentive. We were in a small group of three, and it honestly felt like we each got individual instruction and encouragement the whole time. He broke things down in a way that made it feel doable and safe, and I never felt rushed or overlooked. By the end of the lesson, I was actually able to catch my own waves, which I never expected for my first time. I felt safe, supported, and had so much fun throughout the entire experience. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, especially beginners who want a calm, confidence boosting introduction to surfing.

My husband and his friend did this adventure on Tuesday. They had the best time and actually stood up a few times!! John was so patient with them and a great teacher! They learned a lot and are excited to try it again! Book this tour because the GoPro videos are worth it!!
