Fantastic tour!!

I would 100% recommend this trip! Our guide, Pedro, was fantastic! We had plenty of time to see everything plus more. Pedro kept everything running smoothly while keeping us entertained and giving a great commentary along the way. The bus was very nice and comfortable. I was a little nervous about taking a large group tour, but I would absolutely do this again! Be aware that there is a good bit of walking and stairs. Pay the 3.5€(must have cash) to take the shuttle up to the castle! We walked back down and that was fine. The restaurant that Pedro recommended was very good.

Amazing Stress-Free Castle Tour with an Exceptional Guide

This was an amazing tour from start to finish. Although this tour was a bit pricey, we booked it to simplify the logistics of scheduling, navigating public transportation, etc. This was especially important since we were traveling with a small group that included two 80-year-olds. We were picked up right outside our hotel, and the only thing we had to worry about all day was being ready for our pickup. Once we stepped into the comfortable, clean, and well-air-conditioned van, everything else was taken care of. What made this tour even better was our guide, Mattis. Not only did he give us fascinating information about the history of the castles we visited, but he also chatted with us about German culture, regulations, and what it was like to grow up and go to school right near the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. He was kind, helpful, and incredibly attentive to the needs and abilities of everyone in our group. In addition, he was an excellent driver, providing us with a smooth and comfortable ride while demonstrating courtesy to other pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists along the way. I have booked a lot of tours and experiences through Viator, and this was by far the best! The convenience, personalized service, and attention to detail definitely made up for the expense. Sarah was amazing ! The level of knowledge she had on the tour was incredible and astounding! We learnt a lot and inspired us to learn more ! Every detail she was sharing and every story she was narrating, we could see the scenes in front of our eyes virtually! Other than the horrible hot weather, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour !

Franz was an exceptional guide! He was so knowledgeable about all things Germany and Dachau. He was very easy to understand and clearly relayed important interesting facts about Germany and World War 2 and the camp itself. I would definitely take any tour again with Franz. I have had tours all over the world and think he is the very best of all of them!

Coasting through Germany

Dave is a fun guide with lots of knowledge about the area. From start to finish, it was well organized and we were kept on time for everything. The meal was nice too. Be warned! The coaster can leave marks! My shoulders didn't quite fit the seat so I ended up with bruising, so did another gal. Still worth the chair lift up for the views...be sure to look behind you as you go up...stunning! The castle was good, though you don't get much of a tour of it. Only a few rooms are shown, so I don't know if it's worth €26. I think the alternative would be exploring the village and swimming in the lake, so bring a suit and towel if the castle isn't your scene. I think that having to pay additional fees for everything is a bit frustrating, as it isn't always convenient to carry cash. I would have preferred to pay it all up front in my overall tour cost.

This is the best tour you will find to these locations

The VIP tour was worth every penny. Courtney was interesting and full of helpful hints. The snacks and free beer at the end were most welcome. Take her advice and take the bus to Mary’s Bridge then walk downhill to the castle. Walk all the way back to the village after the tour. It’s a brutal uphill walk to get back to the bus for a return trip. We loved this excursion- every stop was well planned out and perfectly executed.

Lucia is an exceptional guide!

Fabulous tour & great value! Please know there is travel via pubic transit…both city bus & train. The train does make a number of stops along the route. Our guide made it a smooth travel experience both there & back. Our guide was Lucia & she was delightful! She shared history and architectural details and offered excellent budget sensible ideas of places to eat & what to do and what to skip. She spoke clearly and loud enough and was so friendly & personable. She was easy to follow through the busy areas and ensured we felt guided but could still make the trip our own. It was a great day in Salzburg!

It is worth upgrading to...

It is worth upgrading to the premium experience as there is a smaller group and snacks and drinks available throughout the day. Faizen was a wonderful guide - he knew the timing of when to get to the Marienbrucke to take photos of the castle to ensure we could make our castle tour in time.
