About 100 kilometers from Bucharest and 44 kilometers from Ploiesti, the Slanic salt mine is a recognized destination for balneal and touristic activities since 1853, when it was declared a tourist destination of national interest in Romania. Among the superlatives of the salt mine (especially the Union Mine), the most important tourist and health objective in the resort, there is a huge volume of excavated salt, about 2.9 million cubic meters, which led to the creation of cavities with gigantic volumes, respectively 14 trapezoidal rooms totaling about 80,000 square meters. The 14 underground rooms have an opening of 10 meters to the ceiling, 32 meters wide at the bottom, and the height is 54 meters. The depth of the salt mine is 208 meters. The impressive dimensions granted it the title of the largest salt mine in Europe.

Amazing Day with Tudor!

We had the BEST day with our amazing guide, Tudor. He made our experience to Peles, Bran, & Rasnov perfect! I would highly recommend him to anyone. He's communicative, knowledgable, and concise. He's able to convey all the cultural and historical facts and information you would be interested in remembering without bogging you down with the ones you'd forget. In addition, we were the very first group into Peles castle which made for a perfectly peaceful experience with great photo ops compared to the hundreds of people lined up in queues behind us! He catered the entire experience to our small group of three people (myself, my partner, and one other perfectly matched traveler who we enjoyed being with) What a perfect day to learn more about Romania, it's history, and see the beautiful sites. Amazing experience

Great experience. The trail is really beautiful. It starts in the forest, and once you get higher up, it opens into a wide open field with an amazing view. The stop at the cabin has a lovely view, with food options, especially the apple pie. Andrei is an excellent guide and a very nice person. He knows the area very well, and you can tell that he genuinely enjoys being in nature. He also gave me some good tips for other places to visit in Romania.

A Perfect Day in Transylvania with Alex

We had a wonderful day touring Bran Castle, Brașov, and the Liberty Bear Refuge. Our guide, Alex, was excellent—knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive throughout the day. We had plenty of time at each location and never felt rushed, which made the experience very enjoyable. A special thank-you to Alex for going the extra mile and taking us to Peleș Castle as well, even though it wasn’t included in the tour. That was a fantastic unexpected addition and really made the day even more memorable. Highly recommend this tour, especially with Alex as your guide!

Wonderful adventure!

This private tour of the seaside resort of Constanta was phenomenal. My guide, Claudiu, was friendly and knowledgeable. He brought me to the local mosque where I climbed the minaret, explained the various historical sites, including the casino. Then we had a wonderful lunch at a Greek restaurant. By the end of the excursion, I felt I had made a new friend in Claudiu. I highly recommend this experience.

Best tour guide I have had in years

Geta was able to juggle everything with ease. Her knowledge of anything having to do with Romania is unparalleled from what I could tell. She was able to answer any question I had about the tour and was even able to explain other things I was curious about that probably weren't even in her wheel house. Cavernous salt mine with stunning views

The driver is on a schedule so you must be on time meeting outside by the taxis on the boulevard by Hotel Bucharest. They stop 15 minutes on the way there and also on the return (2 hour drive each way).They only play a short 2 minute video so you need to read about the mine when you get there. Bring a jacket it’s about 50 degrees inside you will get cold. There is a gift shop, interesting salt sculptures, tools that they used in the mine, a cafe, large children’s play area, and some games like ping pong, pool to play. It takes about 10 minutes to drive you down into the mine which is quite spectacular to see and is very large. You can do the tour in under 90 minutes which leaves you time to get back to the van for the return. There is also a cafe outside if you need a place afterwards. Very worthwhile to see it.

A fantastic experience with a brilliant tour guide!

To anyone not sure whether they should spend the extra money on a private tour, I would say absolutely yes! Dinu, our guide was absolutely fantastic. We arrived to Brasov by train from Budapest and had to leave again for a very specific train to continue to Bucharest that night. He monitored our train's progress and was there to greet us at the station as we arrived and he made sure that we were back in time for our evening train too. At every step, he was happy to customise our tour to our liking including taking us to a couple of food spots to try out some traditional dishes. The tour has quite a bit of driving, but there was never an awkward moment between him telling us about the history of Romania and the castles, answering our questions and just sharing stories from our lives. He offered to take lots of pictures of us and patiently waited (and joined!) when we wanted to say hi to the local cats 😅 Dinu made sure that our tour was a memory that will last forever and we wish him all the best.

A lovely scape into medieval Romania

We had a fantastic day exploring several beautiful medieval Saxon villages, and the whole experience was absolutely delightful. The weather was perfect, the scenery was stunning, and our guide, Charlie, made everything even better with his great sense of humor and his clear, engaging explanations. We had a wonderful traditional lunch in Viscri — the food was incredibly delicious — and the pace of the tour was relaxed and comfortable. With only two couples in the group, we had plenty of time to explore each place, enjoy the atmosphere, and even sit down for a coffee without any rush. It was a truly lovely day, and we left feeling enchanted by the region. We highly recommend this tour and our guide, Charlie.
