Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The Slănic Salt Mine is absolutely worth visiting. Our driver-guide drove very safely and provided all the necessary information throughout the trip.
Highly recommended!

It is cold for sure but inside is very breathtaking seeing it. For Americans it’s about 50 degrees F so definitely a jacket and pants. They have events inside which is kinda surprising I didn’t think there was anything in there so it is family friendly as well.

Interesting tour with Christian who was a great guide. A tip for others travelling. Bring something warmer to wear than you think you need. At first the 55 degree temperature feels fine but after an hour as your body temperature drops more it gets pretty chilly.

My former student recommended this experience after doing some research and I’m so grateful that I went! It was breathtaking.

The Salt Mine day trip from Bucharest was a really unique experience and definitely worth doing. The tour was well organized, informative, and comfortable throughout the day. The salt mine itself is impressive- huge underground spaces, cool atmosphere, and something very different from the usual tourist attractions. There was enough free time to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the experience at your own pace. The views and surrounding areas were also beautiful during the drive. A great escape from the city and a memorable day trip from Bucharest.

It will leave you breathless, there is nothing else I can say. While I am a Romanian living abroad it never ceases to amaze me the beauty you can find in my country. Daniel the guide was awesome and the whole experience we cant recommend enough 10/10!

Dress for the mine. Take a snack and drink. Ask questions. Our guide Anna was very informative. Wonderful drive once you pass the airport.

The tour was very nice with a lot of detail but freedom to explore some independently. Andreea and her colleagues were very helpful, providing history throughout the tour as well as recommendations for things like local restaurants. We had a great time and they always made sure everyone was present and understood timelines to avoid missing transportation, as the bus into the cave only came every 30 minutes.
Kamryn_M, Apr 2026
One of the coolest places to visit!!! I definitely recommend seeing this while you are here visiting!

Great day out at the Slănic Salt Mine. Our guide was a lovely lady - friendly, organised, and full of interesting information about the area and the mine's history. The whole trip ran smoothly and the site itself is incredible to see.
Definitely worth doing.

An impressive feat of engineering, particularly considering it was completed over a century ago. The scale of the Slănic Salt Mine is striking and unlike most typical tourist sites.
The journey from Bucharest takes around two hours, after which you transfer to a small bus that takes you down into the mine itself. The descent adds to the experience and is well organised.
Once inside, the sheer size of the cavern is the standout feature. There is ample space to walk around and take it in, and for those travelling with children, there are a range of games and play areas that make it very family-friendly.
There is a café within the mine; however, service can be slow. With only around two hours allocated on site before needing to return to the pickup point, it is worth planning accordingly. In our case, we chose not to rely on it to avoid any time pressure.
Overall, a unique and worthwhile experience, particularly for those interested in engineering, geology, or something a little different from standard city attractions.

Our guide was called Rodica who was like a walking Wikipedia of information about Romanian history and lore. She was personable and extremely knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the bus ride and also the visit to the slanic Salt Mine. A most enjoyable day out!!
Ken_Y, Apr 2026
Never seen this scale of salt mine. Woth visiting with 2hrs + 2 hrs drive. It gave us a total of 2 .5 hours free time. Enough to walk the whole mine + lunch near service station.

It was an early start but I’m glad that we went on this day trip. It took about two hours to get to the mine on the mini bus. We stopped once at a convenience station on the way where you could go to the loo or get something to eat. The mine itself was fascinating. You are driven all the way down to it in a tunnel. No need for hard hats or gear etc. You are then pretty much delivered in the main tourist gallery of the mine which is huge. The ceiling is at least 50 metres high so not the claustrophobic experience you might imagine in a mine. The colours were amazing. You can do a lot of walking around and there is a cafe where some pizzas are available etc. The cafe was not extensive but perfectly fine. There is a good amount of time to walk about, eat and relax in the mine and then it was time to go back up to the surface, buy some souvenirs and salt and then go back on the bus (there was no stop on the way back). For me and my wife it was an interesting and novel day out as we had never been down a salt mine before. One of our group had already been down a salt mine and was slightly disappointed.

Unbelievable views once inside the mines! We weren't expecting to be memorized by the experience. Definitely a must if you have the time for this tour!

Visiting the Slănic salt mine was a very neat, one of a kind experience! Highly recommend. Our guide, Iulia was excellent, she provided a lot of information on the mine, Bucharest, and Romania. She was always available for any questions and communicated with us well on the timeline for the day. A perfect amount of time was designated at the mine, I didn’t feel rushed at all.

Breathtaking location, never seen something like this in my life. Definitely a must visit!
Special thanks to the guide, Lucian David! Great jokes, interesting facts and he also gave some tips about Bucharest (what to see, where to eat, what to do and what is not worth your time) The best excursion that I've ever had! Very pleasurable experience overall
zvi_m, Jan 2026
Narcis the guide was great. He gave detailed explanations all the way. He also helped us plan the rest of our trip.
Bruno_d, Dec 2025
The place is impressive but not worth a 2 hour drive each way or the 2 hours spent underground. There’s nothing to do other than walking around and after the initial wow, it’s just plain. This tour needs to be bundled with something else to make sense
Lisa_P, Dec 2025
Amazing trip booked last minute. So glad we did. The salt mines were breathtaking and the guide and driver were really professional and looked after us well.
Dimitrius_M, Oct 2025
Everything went out fine, the mine is astounding and 2 hours is enough time to see the place. The tour guide gave us also interesting information about the mine when we arrived there
SERENA_G, Oct 2025
I really loved this tour and Narcis is a great guide. Slanic mine was really relaxing with areas to chill play games and have coffee. Its so spectacular photos cant define how stunning it is.
Charles_V, Oct 2025
The salt mine is cool temperature wise. Bus stops for snacks for lunch on the way. Salt mine was impressive as it was very different than anything else I have done.

We were amazed by the sheer size of the mine. Our guide Daniel was very knowledgeable and made our experience extra pleasant. I highly recommend this tour!
Tuan_H, Sep 2025
Great experience seeing the mines, definitely lord of the ring vibes. Remember to take something warm as it's a bit chilly down there.
Jay_B, Sep 2025
Cool day out. The price is worth it as you safe yourself the hassle of having to go there and it’s really cool to see.
Agnidhar_A, Aug 2025
The tour is a must do to experience the grandeur of the peles castle and see all the history associated with Bran/ Dracula castle along with getting to explore Brasov a bit. Our tour guide was patient and friendly in explaining as best as he could. As stated by many reviews, the tour does not include the entrance ticket for both places so I recommend buying them online for the date of your tour in advance and also maybe get the skip the line ticket for Bran as it’s pretty packed. The time is a bit stiff at each place and they try to be punctual so that should be something your aware of while exploring both places
Laura_C, Aug 2025
This was a wonderful day trip. The bus was on time at our pick up and our guide Lucian was very knowledgeable and made the time in the bus pass nicely.
The salt mine is a must while in Romania, we were blown away with the beautiful cavern and thoroughly enjoyed our 2.5 hours there.
The ride back to Bucharest was a nice rest and as it was a Sunday I believe quite quick.
All in all I couldn’t fault anything about the day.
Thanks for a great day.

It is nice but Im not sure if it worth the price it has.
When you have a first look everything is more or less the same.
