Tour to Embera Community & waterfall on Rio Chagres

We had an absolutely amazing day with the beautiful Embera Pararapuru community on the Rio Chagres. Our tour guide and driver Orlando clearly has a great relationship with them which made for a great trip and experience. We went sailing to the remote waterfall where some of us took a dip and then spending time with the community in their traditional village to see something of their way of life. We were pleasantly surprised by the plentiful hot buffet lunch. The tilapia fried fish was the best we've ever tasted and some had second helping. There was also an abundance of fresh fruit and a refreshing simple lemonade drink which brought back memories of growing up in Jamaica. We also enjoyed the interactive dancing and were lucky enough to be there at the end of the school day when the primary aged children came home. And we met one of their two very dedicated teachers which was nice too. Our prayer is that the Embera tribe will be allowed to continue their traditions in their own space on the Chagres islands despite challenges and surviving alongside modern day Panama. Thank you Pararapuru community we had a wonderful time. Meeting you was the icing on the cake for our wonderful week and first visit to Panama. The trip was very well organized. Everything was on time. We felt very safe. Thank you Orlando!! Thank you Panama!! We'll be back!!

Best tour ever!

This experience is BY FAR the best tour to monkey island in Panama. We were picked up from our hotel, taken to the boats, and given VIP treatment every step of the way. There were even ice waters waiting for us when we were done. Our tour guide Jenny was so sweet. Her English was perfect, so it was easy for our whole group to understand what was going on. She made us feel safe and informed the entire tour. We traveled with the “queen of the monkeys” who was able to create monkey noises and lure the monkeys in closer to us at each stop. They provided grapes and mangos for us to hand feed the monkeys and made noises for us to hear the intense sounds of the howler monkeys. We were able to see bats, an alligator, and an iguana on our trip. They were also very helpful at informing us on other places to go during our vacation. I would recommend this specific tour to anyone! Be sure to book with Jenny!

Do this! 100% Worth it!

I absolutely LOVED this tour!! Seriously, I went just a couple of weeks ago and I'm already thinking about going again! 😂 We saw several different kinds of monkeys, including howlers, capuchins, and tiny tamarins, and some even climbed right onto the boat and onto us! What made the experience even more impressive was that we went right after the earthquake, when things were still very chaotic. Despite everything going on, they were incredibly professional and made sure we got our entire tour. The only thing we missed was the walk after the boat, simply because it had gotten dark and wasn't safe to do it at that point, which I completely understood. They didn't rush us or cut our time short. It was honestly one of the most enjoyable things I've done here, and I would happily go again tomorrow. Absolutely fantastic experience!

One of the best excursions we did on our Panama Canal Cruise. Ruben was the BEST. We really enjoyed his knowledge of Panama City. I would love to come back and just spend a few days here. I highly recommend this tour and it is a great cruise ship excursion without going through all the nonsense of a cruise line excursion.

The Red Cat Crew are the best!! All the crew do the best they can to make everyone as comfortable as they can and they communicate very well. A memorable experience

I had an amazing time! The crew members were so friendly and very interactive. The games were fun and educational. The line dancing was fun and hilarious. The food was good. The drinks were endless. The other travelers were all very nice! Everyone was just having a grand time. I would absolutely recommend this! Lastly, I forgot my sunglasses and one of the crew members searched for some and let me borrow them! I was so appreciative!

Still the best; you won’t regret

Be prepared for 4 hours of fun. The DJs did replay songs (unknowingly) at different spots which was a little annoying but this is the perfect way to experience old city nightlife without waiting in line for ages for entrance and drinks. The team is well coordinated and helpful each step of the way. Bring your energy and have the best time.
