What are people saying about Mauritius

Wonderful tour of the sites of Southern Mauritius.
This was an excellent tour of the southern part of the island and exactly as described in the itinerary. We particularly enjoyed the 7-Coloured Earth venue and waterfall. Our driver, Wasiim, was very knowledgable and helped guide us throughout the day.

The tour of the north of...
The tour of the north of the island of Mauritius is a must ….
Our driver Keven picked us up on time and took us to all the main places of interest. He never rushed us and gave us relevant information and allowed us plenty of time to explore
Communication was very good before and during trip.
Thoroughly recommend

Wonderful Introduction to Mauritius
Our private tour guide Sameer was a pleasure to spend the day alongside. He was very informative, and went out of his way to make sure we experienced as much of the island's history as we could in a 1 day tour. It is not mentioned specifically in the tour itinerary, but there was a sit-down lunch stop at a restaurant (additional expense on-own). There were also so vendors set up at one of the stops, who we were advised were open to bartering. Most of the stops, Sameer waited for us at the car, so we were on our own at the tour locations and lunch. He did join us when we visited the tortoises at Chamarel. He gave us a good preview of what we would see while driving, then answered any questions when we returned to the car. It worked for us, but we did see some other guides escorting their guests at their stops. If that is important to you, you should confirm the guide's level of involvement when booking. We liked that he stayed with our personal belongings at the car, and did not have to bring everything with us at the shorter stops. NOTE: we had perfect timing for the start of an English language tour at the Rum distillery, but do note this can be a bottleneck in your day...the tours only go out about every 20 minutes.

Our private day trip in...
Our private day trip in Mauritius through Viator was better than we could have hoped for. Our guide, Raj, was fantastic. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about the history and sites. We saw everything that was listed on our itinerary plus more and he catered our timing to what we wanted to spend more or less time doing. He was prompt and flexible on our timing as well. Our lunch stop was a wonderful restaurant and the food was an excellent sample of local food. A great choice for our only day spent on the Island. We were so excited to see Mauritius and our Viator tour worked perfectly for our schedule.

Private Tour Experience in Southwest Mauritius
We took a private tour through the southwest of Mauritius. Kevin, our driver-guide, was punctual at the designated pickup location and time. As he explained to us, he is a native of Mauritius and is well-versed in its history, which allowed him to provide us with detailed explanations regarding the areas we visited. He also agreed to make some adjustments to the itinerary to accommodate my mobility challenges.

Wonderful tour of beautiful Mauritius with our driver Ajay!
What a wonderful tour of Mauritius!
Ajay, our driver was waiting for us at the Cruise Terminal with a sign with our name on it, as promised, at the appropriate time. He made us comfortable in his air conditioned car and we headed off for our first destination. Ajay shared with us the history of Mauritius and many other interesting facts. We visited all the promised locations on the itinerary. Each location was beautiful and very interesting! Our favorite was the Black River Gorges overlook! It is one of the most beautiful valleys I have ever seen! We also enjoyed our visit to the Hindu Temple. Ajay explained about the Hindu Gods and beliefs. We stopped at a lovely restaurant for lunch (at our own expense). The local food was plentiful and delicious! We were able to buy lovely souvenirs at a nice shop. Then back to our ship in good time.
This was a fantastic tour and we highly recommend it and especially Ajay!

Our day out in Mauritius
A full day with lots of experiences. Our driver was very knowledgeable about the area. The included lunch was delicious with choices. The coloured earth looked more colourful on the picture on the internet than in real life but this did not detract from the overall tour. The visit to the tea and rum tours were very good. Plenty of tea to try with no hard sell. Don’t get too drunk tasting the many varieties of rum!!!

Great! Highly recommended
Excellent experience. Great communication with operator prior to meeting date and driver was waiting for us outside baggage claim area. Driver was very courteous, friendly and helpful and helped with our bags. Drove us safely to our hotel and helped with bags on arrival at the hotel. Would definitely recommend and will use again if we return to this area.

Recommend, particularly if you are South Side of island to see something new
Take your own snorkels unless you're happy enough to use one's provided on the boat. If you can take an underwater go pro or pouch for your phone to take amazing footage of turtles and fish.
Deepak is a very knowledgeable guide - encourages you to try local delicacies which were nice. 5⭐️ to Deepak!

Amazing quad biking adventure
The quad biking tour was just awesome and we loved it. Our guide Alex was very calm and patient and explained the basics of quad biking quickly and efficiently. He kept checking on us during the tour and knew when to go fast and when to slow down. The tour was designed really well with ample time to take photos, enjoy plenty of riding time on the quad bikes on many different terrains and explore the sugar cane fields, forests and beaches. We stopped to take photos at each of the points and it was very relaxed and not rushed at all. We really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.

Wow wow wow! What a view! But a real tough one!
This hike was tough! Thankfully I wore the proper clothes and shoes! Yes, proper shoes are super important! Mat (Mathieu) our guide had to hurry us up a little because rain was coming. Our little group bonded pretty good because we all shared this mission. Unfortunately my wife, who has bad knees and takes heart medication, wasn’t able to get to the top, which the rest of us made it in 2 hours. Since it had been raining, some parts of the path got muddy and slippery. Did I mention that having proper hiking/trail-running shoes is super important? I saw people wearing loafers or fashion sneakers and they were having a tough time. A little more than halfway up, the trail gets really steep and vertical and you’re literally climbing rocks and looking for small ledges to get a hand and/or foothold. Once you get to the cross though, and if it’s sunny, you get an amazing view! You can even see the underwater waterfalls. We only stayed about 15-20 minutes because rain was coming. Our guide Mat kept a close watch on it. As we headed down, rain and clouds were upon us and we rushed down as quickly and safely as we could. Surprisingly, going down was easier than going up. Mat was great in that he made sure we were all safe and we used the proper steps and footholds. We made it down from the top in about an hour.
Overall, the hike was really tough and a little scary if you’re afraid of heights, but the reward (the view) was well worth it. I’d highly suggest getting a local guide. And again, I can’t stress how important having good hiking/trail-running shoes is! Mat is great! We had some laughs and good conversation while hiking. His English is very good and he’s very knowledgeable. Highly recommend him!

Tough hike but worth the reward
Just getting to the meeting point proved to be an adventure as we were instructed to meet at a bus stop, but then a lot of the roads were being updated or newly constructed so Google maps got lost a little. Once we got to the meeting point and we met our tour guide Jeez, we were on our way. Jeez was very easy to talk to, friendly, knowledgeable, and his English was easy to understand. He was also very patient with us during the descents/ascents as we were going a bit slow due to my wife’s bad knees. (Pro tip: wear really good trail running shoes or hiking boots as the trail can get quite steep and sometimes slippery if it just rained) As we walked along, we shared some jokes and laughs and stories with Jeez, which helped take our mind off of all the bugs biting us. (Another pro tip: bring bug spray!) As we descended down towards the last waterfall, we experienced some cool things (fish massage, natural jacuzzi, etc.) and took some cool pics on the edge of the water falls. Jeez later revealed he studied photography which was evident with his picture taking/filming skills. At the lunch spot, we were treated to some samosas, roti, and pineapple, all while watching most of the guides and a few daring tourists jump off the ledge into the pool below. A few people went swimming in the pool, which the water was a bit cold for my taste! As we headed back up, we took a different path which was much steeper but allowed us to gain a lot of altitude in a short time. Once up top, while chatting with Jeez, he treated us to some fresh sugar cane from the fields around us.
All in all, although the hike was tough it was really cool to see the waterfalls and take some memorable photos. Jeez is a great tour guide who my wife and I would highly recommend! Again, being some good trail running or hiking shoes.
