A perfect itenary conducted by equally perfect tour operator- Sam tours ((turquoise voyages) and guide Vikash. They made sure that I enjoy each and every place and capture all my special moments. Vikash shared all the information about the country, it's history and significance of all the places we visited. No rush and for every pit stop we had ample time to discover the place at ease. The lunch was very nice and provided a taste of creole food and culture, which all Mauritians are proud of. As a solo traveller I felt safe and looked after by everyone which we don't normally see in many countries, India included. Thanks again to Vikash and Sahil for the tour and all the support provided by them.

A truly great tour of the Southwest. Some spectacular scenery and worthwhile photo stops. We thoroughly recommend this tour. Vikash was a pleasant and informative driver/guide. Lunch was included which was a bonus

Varied and comprehensive tour of the region. We got a great mix of nature and culture. Our driver was very kind, spoke fluent English and French, shared a ton of knowledge on diverse topics including geography, plants, society, history, religion, etc. and he was overall great company. The pace was good; never rushed, never boring. The restaurant lunch was absolutely delicious. The shop at the end of the tour was less our thing, but if you’re into printed t-shirts, they had a huge selection and quality looked good. We came home very tired but satisfied.

It is a comprehensive tour, but is quite time-sensitive, so there isn't always time to deviate from the itinerary. We wanted to shorten time at some places in order to visit Rhumerie de Charmarel, but it wasn't possible, due to us needing to be at lunch by 14h00.
That being said, our driver, Vikesh, was amazing. He shared much of the history of Mauritius with us, taking us to various sights, and was happy to take photos of us at some of the sights. He also kindly took us to a local souvenir shop where we were able to sample some local rum because we weren't able to visit the Rhumerie de Charmarel. We bought a few souvenirs (including rum).
Vikesh picked us up at our hotel (which is about an hour from Charmarel where the tour starts). We firstly went to Charmarel Waterfall, and the Seven-Coloured Earth park where we saw giant tortoises. There is a small eatery in the park if you're thirsty or feeling peckish.
From there we went to the Black River Gorge where we saw another two stunning waterfalls (Black River Gorge & Alexandra).
After that we went to Grand Bassin where we saw the 30 meter high statue of Shiva, and then onward to the temple where we got to see various statues of Hindu deities. Travellers are allowed to enter the temple but need to remove their shoes and women are required to cover their shoulders and knees. We opted not to enter the temple, but just soak up the atmosphere. We saw some monkeys too - one stole a little girl's banana that she was offering to one of the gods.
By this time we were quite hungry and treated to a traditional Mauritian-style meal at Ebony Table d' Hote, which was absolutely delicious! It consisted of three courses, and a soft drink or water. Alcoholic beverages are available at extra cost and are reasonably priced (in comparison with what the resorts charge).
Last stop was Trou aux Cerf - the volcanic crater which is now filled with the most luscious plant-life.
On our way back to the hotel, I asked Vikesh if it would be possible to stop at a local store to buy a brand of beer not available at our accommodation and he happily obliged.
All in all, this trip was well worth what we paid for it. Highly recommended!

We were picked up at the terminal and were surprised it was only the two of us in a private car with driver/guide - which was perfect. We were taken to some fabulous sights high up the mountain then to the 7 coloured earth exhibit together with seeing their giant tortoises. We had a typical Mauritian lunch at a restaurant which was served in a banana leaf and was delicious. After lunch we went to the site of an extinct volcano and could have gone to wherever we wanted but we decided to head back to the ship mid afternoon. We learnt a great deal about Mauritius and saw some super sights - just what we wanted.

A really good tour of the South West, well worth it. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the lunch stop was one of the best meals we had. Only thing to note if weather isn't so good may need an extra layer, you are up in the hills.

Our tour guide made our trip! He was absolutely incredible and answered all our questions. We 100% recommend doing the private tour as it’s catered to your party spend as long or as little as you want in locations. We learnt so much and visited so many beautiful places.
The only bit I personally didn’t enjoy was lunch, but that’s my preference on taste, so many others enjoyed, my husband included. I wish I could have upgraded my lunch at the restaurant!

Collected on time by our guide Baboo, he was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the island and culture. Fantastic areas of beauty visited and amazing views and also seeing the monkeys and giant tortoise. Stopped off for lunch and experienced the local curry which again was very nice. Private tour in air conditioned mini van. Our driver/guide Rajes was at the port waiting with a sign with our names. He was very personable and VERY informative! His accent made understanding difficult a few times but he was very patient and gladly repeated as necessary. We saw the Black River Gorge viewpoint, the Chameral sites (waterfall, seven coloured earths, tortoises), Alexandra Falls, and Grand Bassin Hindu Temple.. Then we had a delicious lunch at Ebony Table D'Hote, a short visit to Trou aux Cerfs, a souvenir shop and then back to the ship. We were able to beat the tour buses to most of the sites which was nice and being an independent tour, much cheaper than the crowded ship provided tours. Highly recommend this tour.

This truly was an amazing experience for my co-worker and I. Our tour guide, Vikash, was exceptional! He gave us a great lecture on the history of Mauritius. He was an extremely kind and thoughtful gentlemen. Although it rained on and off during our tour he kept us very engaged with information and making sure we were enjoying our tour. The sights were breathtaking and Vikash was the cherry on top. This was a work trip and I wanted to try and see some of the island before I left and it was truly a great experience.

Horrible tour guide!!!
This is my second time on the island and I was so eager for my cousin discover this tour that I had done previously. What was my surprise when to start this tour, our guide named RAJAN was SUPER rude and aggressive from the get go. No bottles of water in the car despite the heat, he was rushing us everywhere as if he had something else to do besides accompanying us. But worst of all, and despite the park being closed because of the bad weather, he made my cousin go through slippery muddy walking trails where she almost fell down and being left alone.
I decided to cut this tour short and end the catastrophe to go even further.
Not too sure if this guide - which by the way was just a driver and NOT a guide is qualified for the job.
I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Way too careless, unprofessional and even dangerous!

This was a wonderful full day tour highlighting so much of the southwest areas of Mauritius! The Viator photos definitely represented all that we enjoyed. Our guide was so kind, a great driver, and ensured we had a great day! We especially enjoyed avoiding the big crowds and big buses which made our stops much more enjoyable! We truly enjoyed our lunch too! Definitely a great tour!!

Great tour to the most popular sites on the southwest part of the island.
The 7 coloured earth was definetly the highlight of the tour, howevere driving between the sites was with good views as well.
We were picked up by guide Babou, who did a good job as our driver/guide for the day. A good mix between explaning facts about the sites, but also letting us explore the sites by ourselves. The freedom from a private tour is also very convenient.
Lunch was local 3 dishes, we liked it.
All in all a good tour to see the highlights of the southwest.
