Very disappointing experience - itinerary changed without informing us, driver was uncooperative, and we felt pressured throughout the trip
We booked this tour specifically because of the destinations mentioned in the itinerary. However, the first three places listed were simply not covered by the driver, The advertised destinations were replaced with stops such as Chamarel Rum Factory, which we had no interest in visiting.
What makes this worse is that I was actually in touch with the tour organizer one day before the trip, yet nobody told me that some of the advertised destinations would not be included.
The experience became much worse around 2:00 PM, when we asked to stop for lunch. We are vegetarians and had identified a suitable vegetarian restaurant only around 6 km from the Seven Coloured Earth area. The driver flatly refused to take us there, saying that the restaurant was “in the west” and not “in the south.” This made very little sense considering how close it was.
He insisted that we first complete all the sightseeing locations and then have lunch. At the same time, he started warning us that if the tour exceeded the stipulated duration, we would have to pay an additional MUR 1,000 for every extra hour.
This made us feel so threatened & uncomfortable that we eventually decided to start travelling back towards the hotel rather than continue arguing.
Because of this, we finally managed to have lunch at around 3:30 PM. By then me and my wife were already feeling weak from not having eaten.
One additional warning for anyone considering booking: look carefully at how the organizer responds to even mildly critical reviews. Some of those replies come across as dismissive and snarky, and in my experience that is a fair indication of the kind of customer support you may receive if something goes wrong. Book with caution and at your own risk.

It is so unfair on your behalf to be misleading and providing false statements despite we did all our best to provide you with our best services. In fact you wanted to see other parts of the island which were very very far apart and not on the itinerary. Firstly the tour is in the south east of Mauritius, but you wanted to go Port Louis which is 49km (about 1 hour) from the chamarel, and Port louis is not even on the itinerary. Secondly, It is good to note that we stopped at all the places as per the Itinerary. You wanted to have lunch at a vegetarian restaurant, so we brought you to a restaurant, where vegetarian dishes were available, but you did not accept to have lunch there, instead you wanted to go to a restaurant in flic in flac which is 32 km (47 minutes) from chamarel, and obviously is very far from the routes in the itinerary, finally we brought you to a restaurant in Riambel which was even chosen by you. Please take note also that the tour does not cover the north or east sides of Mauritius, so if you wanted to visit other places, obviously you have to book other tours. Please take note that we fulfilled the complete itinerary and even brought you to a restaurant of your choice, but instead you are providing misleading and wrong impressions.

It was a pleasant day tour . Full of places to explore and admire in the south of the Island. I was so lucky with the fine weather as this day tour maybe affected by it . Anyway this day tour is a must if ever in Mauritius. The car was very clean and the guide driver answered all my inquiries plus he informing about all the places we stopped in . I thank him for this beautiful day spent on this beautiful island.

Having read a number of reviews I had hoped for some information from our guide and not just a taxi ride but he spoke very little English. Sadly it also rained all day so we didn’t stop long at each of the sights. It’s a good way to see the island but maybe even some printed information on each of the sights giving history etc would make it more enjoyable.

Mauritius does not have anything noteworthy to see. We had a pleasant day with a lovely guide, but if we had done nothing& stayed on board our ship, we wouldn't have missed much.
The required visit to a shop was a waste of time - overpriced & nothing we wanted. The volcano was overgrown, so 'nothing to see here'. The Hindi temple & statues were interesting. The Alexandra Falls were a waste of time, but the coastal view made up for that. The Canyon was interesting, but the coastal drive was the most pleasant park to the trip. Lunch was also Indian, so we only got to see one side of the cultural mix. Missed out on the bost museum (supposedly it wasn't open), though our friends visited & brought back photos.

We respect your opinion but we also note that even though you said Mauritius has got nothing noteworthy, you have still liked the hindi temples, the canyon and also the coastal drive. We have many other things to do here in Mauritius but maybe you need more time and book more tours to discover the beauty of our island and also in just 1 day it is impossible to do all the things. We have more sightseeings, water activities, outer islands tour, inland activities, but maybe if expectations are so very very high then it is quite impossible for us to fulfill them all.

Unfortunately it rained 75% of the time on the excursion and although we understand the driver cant control the weather we missed key stops on our tour (didnt even have an umbrella ) so we agreed we with the driver we would get to see the next day, and then go on to see the other side north side of island. (of course paying for the tour of the other side of island) Unfortunately when we called in the morning to confirm everyone from company including our driver from previous day were busy and no one contacted us first to confirm what we had agreed the day before. so we were very disappointed that they did not keep their agreement . I think these tours must be canceled when the forecast is rain all day, because it is not fair to pay for a tour where we cant see the majority of the stops on tour. Although we thought we had a nice rapport with the driver it turned out to be very disappointing

Excellent, personalised tour. Our driver Fardeen was great - really helpful, good natured, and full of knowledge about Mauritius. Flexible enough to swap some destinations around, cancel places we're not interested in for more interestings ones along the way. The driver was kind and informative about his perspective on local culture and arrived on-time to meeting times. The only thought we had was we weren't informed of the directions to the pretty parts of the Grand Bassin complex, which would've been on the other side of the lake from the parking lot which the driver left us at, resutling in quite a walk to find spots where popular online photos showed we should've seen in terms of scenery and culture.

Driver picked us up at the Cruise terminal right on time in a very roomy/comfortable mini van and took us around the island to all of the seven (7) sights we wanted to see. He then dropped off one party at the hotel and second party at the airport in more than enough time for departure. He was helpful, kind and very informative and we learned a lot about Mauritius. Beautiful place to visit with a driver who knew the history of the island plus any and all facts we asked about. We were not rushed and were able to take our time at each and every stop. Option was given half way through the day to have lunch at a restaurant, good food and quick serves.
The Grand Bassin and the Hindu Temple as well as the Chamarel 7 colour earth was the highlights of the tour.
