Top Bilbao Day Trips

We had a great experience on the tour to San Sebastián - Donostia and Getaria! Our guide gave us a very thorough tour of the city, which was beautiful and very different from Bilbao. He shared a lot of the history and culture as well, which was great. Lunch was fantastic—local Pintxos and wine, with Basque cheesecake afterward. Getaria was nice too, albeit much smaller so just a short stop and walk around. Overall length was 9 hours, just right. I highly recommend it if you’re in Bilbao and want to see a little more of the region!

Great meeting Jack on first evening in Bilbao. As a solo traveler, great way to explore Bilbao, meet folks, and eat amazing food from so many different places. Would not be able to eat at all these places yourself in one night, and most importantly, it was fun.

Totally enjoyed our experiences with the "guide" who we preferred to acknowledge as a companion who educated us about Basque history and food cuisine. Not only was she knowledgeable, but her English was wonderful, and all of the food establishments that we visited knew her. Because there were only my spouse and myself, she was able to tailor our experiences to our time frame, needs, and preferences. Tackling enjoying food for the remainder of tour during many days thereafter in Bilbao and San Sebastian was made so very much easier because of her

I was really grateful for the insight, additional context, and conversations that Gara provided. She was a delight to spend some time with, and I believe I enjoyed the museum more than I would have on my own. I only wish it was longer and we could have seen more! But the ticket gave me additional time to explore the museum solo. Overall an incredible experience well worth the money.

We visited 4 Basque cities, 1 of them in France! Stefan gave us a lot of interesting history about the cities and about the Basque history, culture, and language. We saw beautiful beaches and countryside. We had time in San Sebastion for a nice lunch and to walk around the city. I thought it was good value for the cost.

I was picked up at my hotel and pleasanty greeted by Asier. Charming and approachable. He announced that we would be driving near the town of "Abalos" on the way to La Riajo. That gesture made me feel really special and grateful. It was a beautiful day driving through La Riajo and we visited two (2) excellent Bodegas. Asier is very knowledgeable, professional and definitely easy to communicate with. He talked about the wine region that we were visiting in extent. We had lunch at a beautiful restaurant in Laguardia "Biazteri" and the food was outstanding and delicious. I would definitely visit this region of Spain in the near future and hopefully have Asier as my guide.

Our tour of Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and San Sebastián was absolutely incredible—stunning coastal scenery, rich culture, amazing food, and a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration. Highly recommended for couples looking to experience the very best of the Basque region.

This tour was more than expected. Especially since we had such a great tour guide, Endika ( I hope I spelled that correctly) To get this tour from a born and raised Basque native was priceless. The history and culture told by Endika was perfect. Be prepared for a hike. We were fortunate to get a cloudy, drizzly day since for days prior it had been over 100 degrees in Gaztelugatxe. Make sure to carry some water. You will be told of this by your tour guide. Our guide also took us around the town of Guernika. As the sun broke through the clouds for a moment, Endi gave us a history lesson of the town. On my vacation through out Spain, I visited many places on tours but this one really left a lasting impression. To learn of the struggles and fight and history of the Basque region and its people was both romantic and brought on empathy as well. I am happy I saved to visit this region last; to keep the memory of the culture, the food, and best of all, the kindness of the people fresh in my mind and heart.
