Excellent experience, highly reccommend. Our guide Edwardo was very informative and the tours and tastings at the two wineries were very in depth. Depending upon the wineries visited there may be steep and uneven steps down into a very old cave. Late lunch was welcome and a delicious sampling of regional dishes.

We had a wonderful day to the Rioja wineries with Adur. Not only was he knowledgeable about the history and culture of the region, but he added to our experience by personalizing the day for us according to our interests, answering our endless questions. The tour was engaging to this beautiful region, made all the more special because of Adur. Not to mention the lovely lunch (and cheesecake) in La Guardia. We bumped into Adur again in San Sebastián when he was leading another tour. We were at a restaurant that he had recommended to us! Such a special day with beautiful memories and very special guide. Highly recommended.

Our guide Adur was fantastic! We were expecting a great trip through Basque wine country and ended up with a wonderful trip that included an intriguing overview of Spanish history and how it related to the Basque Country through which we were traveling. Adur’s interaction during our wine tours made the experiences even better as he was able to help interpret when our broken Spanish and absent Basque language was insufficient (he’s fluent in several languages). The wineries that he chose for us to visit were quite different but complimented each other and gave us a broad experience. we had lunch in LaGuardia and it was perfect! we trusted Adur to choose the pintxos for us based on our previous discussions and he nailed it. Overall, 15/10 experience. When we come back to Basque Country, we will be asking for Adur for any tours that he is available for!

Make sure to have a breakfast and liquid before you start this tour, as you can easily over imbibe drinking before lunch. Each winery had bread, cheese, cured meat and water available; take advantage of these. Eating and drinking water while tasting wine can enhance your sense of smell and taste creating new flavors to experience.
The tour guide/driver was very knowledgeable on local history and the wine guides knew their products and wine history.

We ended up having the tour to ourselves and it was amazing. Our guide, Eduardo, was so kind and fun, and he gave us just enough background info without overwhelming us. The two wineries we visited and their staff were outstanding, as well as the lunch which was casual but authentic and delicious. We felt so welcomed and had the perfect experience! The drive was also very scenic. 10/10 would recommend and do it again.

We had such a great day visiting two different wineries with our guide, Pilar, who gave us lots of info about the geography and climate of the Rioja region. One winery had such cool, informative visual and sensory exhibits about wine—truly unique! The other one was a small winery with really old caves from the 15th century! We enjoyed a great lunch together in LaGuardia. We met such great people from all over—An altogether wonderful day.

Jose was a wonderful guide and driver. He was knowledgeable about the history and the geography of the region. Both wineries were good tours with good wines. The Pintxo lunch in LaGuardia was particularly enjoyable.

We never made this excursion. It was cancelled 5 minutes before we disembarked from our ship. Shame on your company!
We booked this excursion months in advance. The night before we got a text telling us that the company changed the start time to one hour earlier. Knowing we weren’t disembarking until after the new time, we contacted the company and were assured that they would wait for us. Our ship was on time in the port and we were first in line to get off. They called us and said that they would not wait. We were issued a refund, however no apology for ruining our plans and leaving us desserted in a. Foreign country.
Most likely will not book with Viator again.

Our guide, Elba, was outstanding—she was local and gave a lot of information about the region and life there which added to the experience.
The wines were very good—it was fascinating to see so many small independent wineries, many seemingly operating out of their houses.
Given the wine, food and information, this was well worth the money—highly recommended.

We are 2 couples from California, USA. We have toured a lot of wineries. We had a very nice time on this tour. The cave winery was different from anything we have done before and the wine was tasty. We found out that the tour did not include the Frank Geary designed winery but we were able to stop by the store. I was disappointed but it didn’t say it would be included.
The scenery was absolutely stunning on the drive and during the winery tour.
Our tour director, Victoria was delightful, funny and engaging and did not rush us.
I would say the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that Victoria was a very erratic driver and we were all very uncomfortable during the drive. It was nice to be picked up at our hotel.

Money well spent!!! We spent the day with Jose. He picked us up at our hotel and we spent an amazing day in wine country. We went to 2 wineries and the staff there was knowledgeable and welcoming. We learned a lot about the process of making the wine and of course got to taste. It was fun because our 20 year old daughter is studying in Bilbao for 5 months and this was her first wine tour experience. She loved it and now how a different perspective on wine. Jose also took us to a small village where we lunched on pintxos and drank wine. The views, company and wine were fantastic. We learned about the culture, the wine and so much more. Thank you to Jose and the wineries fir an amazing experience
