The way the tour was described on Viator's website was not very clear and somewhat deceiving. The tour we booked was called Tour of Hondaribbia, San Sebastian, Getaria, Zarautz and was supposed to last 9 hours. The itinerary we were given even gave times at each city and the confirmation text was described as such. When the tour operator arrived, their itinerary only provided for San Sebastian and Getaria. I showed them our booking and their response was they don't offer such a tour. Since we were already on the road and couldn't cancel, we proceeded at least expecting a guided tour of San Sebastian. The guides were very friendly but didn't offer anything we could have done on our own. The highlight of the whole day was lunch which was excellent, but here again, the booking stated 4 pintxos, and 2 glasses of wine. We were offered 3 pintxos and a choice of drink. Needless to say, we were looking forward to an exciting day exploring Basque Country but instead, paid almost $200 each for an Uber ride to San Sebastian with lunch. Viator blamed us for not reading the fine print which gave you a choice o Small Group or Bilingual tour. The way the information was presented did not associate your particular choice with only a certain portion of the tour. All communications after booking implied we would visit all four cities. I would not recommend this tour if you are looking to see the Basque Country. You're better off doing it on your own by renting a car and buying a guidebook or watch YouTube videos to learn about where to go. Total waste of time and money!
We had a great experience on the tour to San Sebastián - Donostia and Getaria! Our guide gave us a very thorough tour of the city, which was beautiful and very different from Bilbao. He shared a lot of the history and culture as well, which was great. Lunch was fantastic—local Pintxos and wine, with Basque cheesecake afterward. Getaria was nice too, albeit much smaller so just a short stop and walk around. Overall length was 9 hours, just right. I highly recommend it if you’re in Bilbao and want to see a little more of the region!
We had an incredible day touring San Sebastián and Getaria with Asier. This was easily the best guided tour we’ve ever taken.
Although it was scheduled as a small group tour, it ended up being just the two of us, likely because the morning started out rainy. That made the experience even more personal. We’re in our 50s and had already spent weeks walking all over Spain, so we really appreciated traveling comfortably by van with only short walks at each stop.
Asier was outstanding. His knowledge of Basque history, culture, traditions, and everyday life was amazing, and he happily answered every question we had. His English is nearly perfect, he’s incredibly well traveled, and he’s the kind of guide who makes every stop more meaningful. Even with the rain, he adjusted the day so everything worked out perfectly, and by the afternoon the sun was shining.
He also took us to an excellent restaurant where he ordered a wonderful variety of pintxos for us to try, showed us a fantastic souvenir shop, and even taught us how to play jai alai.
If you’re visiting the Basque Country, don’t hesitate to book this tour, and if you have the chance to tour with Asier, take it. He is knowledgeable, personable, flexible, and truly passionate about sharing his beautiful region. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.
This was a great way to experience the Basque region. I learned so much about the history and culture of the region from our guide Jose. A fabulous day where everything was well organised and my special vegetarian requests were catered for with ease.
You will get much information on this Tours about both San Sebastian and GELATERA and the small group format is ideal
Our driver and guide a DUR was fantastic. He is a local who attended the British school from age 6 to 18 so his English was even better than ours. He is so well suited for this work and in the small group format it will be easy to follow through the main squares and streets of San Sebastian and learned so very much. We were picked up at the port while on a cruise with two days in BILBAL no pick up when seamlessly as did the drop off. It was about a one hour 15 minute ride to San Sebastian.
We walk through town from 11 until one also along the beach promenade. We had reservations at 1 PM for PINXTOS at the first bar/pub and were served too hot items and a choice of drink. We then a tour the interesting side street some more and had reservations at a second colorful pub where we had another hot PINXTOS as well as a dessert item that was delicious and of course more wine or beer.
We then left and drove over the back roads on the mountains to the second small town which was really really beautiful and I imagine it would be a lovely place to stay. We did an ice cream stop there before arriving back at the port at about 6 PM. We 100% recommend this tour to you.

Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history, culture, and life in the Basque Country. We booked the day trip from Bilbao, knowing very little about the region. It was a full day and after driving in the rain through the beautiful countryside, we were lucky to arrive in San Sebastián where it was dry, and the sun occasionally came out. ( unfortunately the downpour diid not allow us to walk around Getaria) We learned so much about Basque Country, its historic past and its pride in a very strong identity, which we hadn't realized was separate from Spain or France. We were introduced to the culinary culture of the bar hopping lunch of Pinxchos, totally opposite our rushed lunch of coffee and a snack. Adur was an excellent guide and a careful driver. We highly recommend this day trip if you are spending a few days in Bilbao.
A packed day of high energy touring and stimulating conversation with guide/host Joserra of Local Experts Tours. Extended visits/walkabouts of Getaria and San Sebastián, with generous provisions of coffee & snacks (Getaria) and pintxos lunch with wine (San Sebastián). Thoroughly enjoyable! We slept well that night :-)

A really fantastic tour. It was so much more than I expected. The guide was real, very authentic, honest and enthusiastic. I felt the sights he took us to were not just the ones on the checklist but ones that provided insight into San Sebastián. Even the restaurant he took us to for lunch was less of a tourist trap, more of a local destination. He also went above and beyond to take us to a must see sight in Bilbao on the way back. Well worth the money.
A great experience! Our trip was a really short stay in Bilbao and I thought this tour gave us more exposure to the Basque region and lots of great information/history! Definitely recommend!

This tour was much more personable and informative than any other I've been on. It was definitely a combination of our guide, Adur, being from the area and his knowledge and friendly disposition to share it with us. The cost reflect the small group size but worth it. We were able to ask a lot of questions about the culture, the area, history in as much detail as we wanted. Since he was a generational Basque, his context, knowledge and experience provided POVs that were real and authentic. I highly recommend this tour!

We were a group of 5 and Pilar took care to connect with each person to ensure everyone's views were heard. She was very informative and has a great sense of humour. She drove extremely well and the walking tour in the old and new towns was very good. We went to 2 different bars for pinchos and drinks and the food was filling and tasty and and done at a leisurely pace. San Sebastien is a busy place, and difficult to drive and park, so with Pilar it was a very full and enjoyable day. The side trip to Getaria on the drive home was a nice stop. A full 8 hours as promised.

Not only were we fortunate to have a wonderful guide in Adur but there were only two of us and it ended up being a private tour. The walking tour and delicious lunch in San Sebastián was utterly enjoyable and this was followed by a scenic route back to Bilbao via the mountains and a stop at Getaria, a seaside town. Adur was very well versed in the history and culture of the Basque country and even though we covered a lot and did a fair bit of walking, we felt relaxed throughout the tour. In all our many years of travelling, this would be the best guided tour we’ve experienced.

This was a fabulous tour and our guide, Pilar, was wonderful! She was both friendly and professional with great information about the area!
The San Sebastián tour was lovely. Jose was very informative. Wartime to walk along the beach and through the town to see the sites and learn the history. We enjoyed delicious pintxos from local cuisine. The village of Getaria was charming as well.
We were lucky to have Pilar as our tour guide! She was well informed and conducted an excellent tour.
We booked our tour in Spanish by accident but the guide did a good job translating for us. It was a small group and slow pace which allowed us to soak in the experience. It was a little pricey and why I rated it very good instead of excellent. Everyone had a great time.

We would like to point out though that the small group tours that we offer, with a maximum group size of eight people in a tour, literally do not allow us to have lower prices in order to offer high quality services (hotel pick up, and so on). We locate our products between private and massive tours, and this is where our prices are as well (we would say our prices are closer to massive tours actually, where our services are much closer to private tours :-D).

This tour was more on the leisurely side. It focused on the culture and history of areas of San Sebastián, Zumaia, etc. Of course lots of nice picture taking opportunities as well.
Overall we liked the tour and were happy we had a guide who was very knowledgeable. Only downside was the weather but that’s not the tour company’s fault

Jag och mamma hade en mycket trevlig dag. Guiden var kunnig och mycket trevlig. Mycket god mat och gott vin. San Sebastián gillade vi väldigt mycket, så vackert där. En dag att minnas.
