After a boating excursion got cancelled due to potential weather, my partner and I booked a last-minute ticket for the birdwatching tour with Eddie. If I had known beforehand what I know now - the birdwatching tour would have absolutely been my first choice!! It was truly a magical experience. Eddie is so passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about the local wildlife, he surpassed all of my expectations. If somebody would have told me that by the end of my trip I would have seen Toucans, Mot Mots, Trogans and Tityras I wouldn’t have believed them. But Eddie was able to help us spot those, and many more, with relative ease throughout the tour. After a few fruitful hours of birding, we ended the outing with lunch at a delicious local spot. Although my partner isn’t as much of a fan of birding as I am, he was enthralled with the experience and left with a newfound appreciation of our feathered friends. I really can’t recommend this tour enough! I will remember it for the rest of my life and am incredibly grateful I got to experience this. If you’re considering booking this tour - do it. You won’t regret it and will leave feeling enriched, mystified, fulfilled, and more knowledgeable about a beautiful culture and a beautiful place. (Plus you’ll add all kinds of unique lifers to your list!)

Great experience!

Eddy wasn’t available so he recommended our guide Moises, who was just perfect! We also met up with another group and their guide Emiliano, these two together were the dynamic duo. We saw over 40 species of birds—the highlights to me included a pygmy owl, a toucan, a mot mot, and and some parakeets. Sian Kaan was lovely and virtually empty, so very chill. The guides passion for ecology was obvious and inspiring. The tour ended with a wonderful meal at a local spot. We highly recommend if you love nature!

Eddy is the best. Super knowledgeable and passionate, and kind. Saw more than 50 species, including toucans, a motmot, and pygmy owls. And local mayan lunch was perfect! Highly recommend a tour with Eddy!! There are so many regions here in Quintana Roo and the entire Yucutan Peninsula. You could have many days of birding with Eddy.

Fantastic birding with Moises

Eddy was busy so he connected us with Moises and Emiliano. We had a fantastic morning of birding - 53 species! We birded first in Muyil, in an area Moises obviously knew well. Tanagers, toucans, motmots and more. Then on to Sian Ka’an, where long billed gnatwren & northern bentbill were highlights. We haven’t birded the Yucatán before so we’re glad to pick up some endemics. Moises and Emiliano were friendly, considerate of our pace, easy to be with. Moises is just an incredible guide, skilled in spotting by sight and ear. You’ll be lucky if you get to go with this duo!

The birding tour with Eddy was an incredible experience! We spotted an impressive 56 species in just one outing. Eddy was considerate, knowledgeable, and had a great eye for spotting even the most well-camouflaged birds. His passion and expertise made the tour both fun and educational. Highly recommend for any bird lovers!

Excellent small scale birdwatching tour!

The 52 species of birds we saw and Eddy as a guide. He clearly knows the local area and what one can expect to see given the season. The taco place we visited for brunch in Muyil was excellent, very flavourful and well made food. It would have been great to add one more spot perhaps, given the price, but overall definitely worth it! Eddy is a great guy and guide!

My partner and I are biologists who love birding and we were so happy to have chosen this tour! Eddy is super knowledgeable and such a pro at spotting even the tricky to see birds. I really appreciated that he kept a detailed eBird list that he shared with us promptly after the tour. We saw 62 species including toucans, hummingbirds, and Motmots! We learned so much from Eddy about wildlife in the area and about his experiences in bird research and conservation. Eddy picked us up from our resort an hour away for a very reasonable extra cost and brought us to a site with an overwhelming number of beautiful birds! The tour was well paced and allowed us time to take photos and appreciate the birds. Eddy then brought us to the Muyil archeological site where he shared the history of the site with us. It was a pleasure to learn about Mayan history and culture in a serene site with few other tourists around. We then walked through a dense forest along a boardwalk in the nature reserve to look for rarer birds and saw enormous butterflies along the way. The bugs were surprisingly scarce though having bug spray helps so you aren’t swatting away mosquitoes. Finally, we stopped by a local spot for lunch and had what was definitely the best meal of our trip. I’ll be recommending this tour to my friends, even those who aren’t regular birders as I’m sure anyone who appreciates wildlife would enjoy it! Thanks again to Eddy for this tour being the highlight of our trip to Mexico!

It was such a pleasure to bird watch with Eddy. He is easy to talk to, knowledgeable, polite, and a great advocate for environmental preservation. Eddy grew up in the area and went to college for eco-tourism. He continues to learn by birding in other areas of Mexico to expand his knowledge. Birding is a passion of his and it shows. I encourage anyone that is interested in birding to choose Eddy - you will not regret it.

We loved our birding tour with Eddy! We were so impressed with his knowledge of local birds - he was able to identify birds SO quickly and easily and we saw a whopping 57 species on our day out with him (which I think may have been his record high for a tour in this area)! Highly recommend booking with Eddy if you want to see and learn about the local birds.
