The restaurant owner and staff are great! They are so personable and patient when providing guidance on recipes and instructions. The menu items are indigenous to the culture, very easy to prepare, and so delicious. Definitely worth making at home for family and friends. I was a part of a small group of participants. We enjoyed the experience and partnered to prepare a wonderful spread of delicious dishes.

A Cultural "Must Do" in Tulum

      Emil_R, Feb 2026
If you’re visiting Tulum and want more than beach clubs and cenotes, this Mexican cooking class is an absolute cultural must-do. From start to finish, it was an authentic, hands-on culinary experience that went far beyond just following recipes. The class begins with an introduction to traditional Mexican ingredients and regional cooking techniques. We learned how to prepare classic dishes from scratch — grinding spices, working with fresh masa, and understanding how flavors like achiote, citrus, and local chilies balance each other. The whole crew at Delicia was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about sharing real Mexican culinary traditions rather than a watered-down tourist version. What makes this Tulum cooking class special is the cultural context. The chefs explained the history behind each dish, the Mayan influences on Yucatán cuisine, and how ingredients are sourced. It felt immersive and meaningful, not staged. You’re not just cooking — you’re connecting with the region. The setting was lovely and relaxed, with super fresh ingredients and plenty of guidance throughout. Everything we made was delicious (we had food for days after the class!), and the experience felt both educational and genuinely fun. If you’re searching for the best cooking class in Tulum, an authentic Mexican culinary experience, or a unique cultural activity in the Riviera Maya, this is it. Highly recommended for couples, families, and solo travelers who want to understand Mexico through its food. Five stars without hesitation.

We had a fantastic evening with Barbara and learnt so much. This experience comes highly recommended. Barbara was so generous with her time and wealth of knowledge. We made friends and drank a fair few complimentary margaritas & craft beers from Oaxaca as we cooked. Made for a fun and educational time. Muchas gracias!

We absolutely loved this experience! Barbara was kind, welcoming, informative and fun. As a queer couple, my partner and I felt very comfortable with Barbara and her staff. The food was amazing and abundant - we went home with so many leftovers!

      A must do

This was such a wonderful way to spend the day! My husband and I wanted to do something out of the touristy norm. This did not disappoint. We were the only two in the class and got to choose the main course we wanted to cook. Vale talked us through each course we prepared sharing information about the local ingredients and the importance of each ingredient. Aside from the abundance of food, we also made margaritas! Everything was fresh and delicious! We got to take everything left over with us! Looking forward to returning to try food from the menu! Best experience in Tulum!

      The Best Mexican Experience

      Deyonna_H, Nov 2025
The absolute BEST! The experience was out this world. The chef teaches with such passion and patience that is you have no experience in the kitchen, she will make you look like a chef! The margarita class and tequila tasting was great as well. Definitely would do again

Great authentic learning experience in a friendly environment.

I booked this for my son in law and friend while in Tulum as he is a chef and I wanted to give him an authentic cooking experience while in Mexico. The communication was good from booking to him going and they both came back thrilled and very happy from the experience. It was so informative and they talked about making things from scratch and the cooking techniques but the main thing was the lady gave up her time to share her experience with them. They really enjoyed this and that fact they say down and could taste all the food they made was extra special. Thank you for the opportunity that you provided.

A True Deep Dive into Mexican Cuisine—Cook Mole, Salsas, Ceviche & More in a Fun, Hands-On Kitchen Class

      Mark_V, Aug 2025
After taking cooking classes all over the world, I’ve learned that many are more like food demonstrations (or excuses to sip wine) than true cooking lessons. This class? Absolutely the opposite. From the moment we walked in, it was a full deep dive into authentic Mexican cooking—and we were right in the heart of the kitchen! Our chefs, Valeria and Eduardo, were incredible guides, walking us step-by-step through a 4-hour culinary adventure that had us chopping, stirring, tasting, and laughing the entire way. Because it was just the two of us that day, the experience felt incredibly personal and hands-on. The night before, we’d selected our main dish: the traditional chicken mole. When we arrived, the table was beautifully set with fresh ingredients for every dish on the menu. We prepared four unique salsas, each crafted with its own technique, and dove into making the rich, complex mole sauce (27 ingredients—it was a masterpiece!). Along the way, we whipped up ceviche, aguachiles, tortillas, sopes, and empanadas—every bite more delicious than the last. Valeria filled the class with fascinating stories about each ingredient and its origins across Mexico, while Eduardo kept the energy light, fun, and fast-paced. We even had a bonus margarita-making session and tequila tasting, which added a perfect festive touch. By the end, we sat down to enjoy a feast we had truly cooked ourselves, complete with leftovers to take home for later. The food was spectacular, but the real highlight was the warmth, humor, and expertise of Valeria and Eduardo. If you want a cooking class that’s immersive, delicious, and unforgettable—this is a must-do

The Highlight Of Our Mexican Vacation

      Beth_L, Apr 2025
The incredibly talented chef, Barbara Padilla, owner of restaurant Delicia De Mi Tierra made us most welcome today in her restaurant for a one on one Mexican cooking class in Tulum on the Yucatan Peninsula. Needless to say it was an enriching culinary experience learning to cook tacos al pastor (thinly sliced pork roasted on a skewer on hot coals with pineapple), empanadas, red snapper ceviche con pico di gallo, prawn aquachile with pineapple and mango, green avocado salsa, red salsa, two other salsas, margaritas and more. We also had a tequila and mezcal tasting and appreciation session. Muchas gracias Chef Barbara por su tiempo y enseñanza hoy en su maravilloso restaurante! @deliciademitierratulum
