Top Tulum Desserts & Sweets in 2026

Mamazul is recognized in Tulum as an authority on mezcal, with the deepest agave-spirit selection in the region and a team of hosts who truly understand mezcal, cacao, agave varieties, production methods, and regional traditions. This is not a generic tourist tasting or a commercial “tourist trap.” It is an authentic, guided experience created for travelers who want to learn, taste, and understand Mexico through two of its most important flavors: mezcal and chocolate. Guests enjoy four carefully selected pairings of traditional mezcal and artisanal Mexican chocolate, exploring how cacao, citrus, honey, and pure chocolate interact with different agaves, terroirs, roasting techniques, and flavor profiles. The experience is intimate, educational, and sensory, hosted inside Mamazul’s beautiful Aldea Zama mezcalería by people who are passionate about mezcal, not just serving drinks.

Explore a side of traditional Mayan culture few other visitors get to experience—and take part in two ancient rituals—during this half-day, private tour. Led by a local shaman, you'll begin with a chocolate ceremony: Smell, feel, and taste the cocoa, which the Mayans called "drink of the gods." Then, experience a traditional temazcal ceremony, which takes place in a natural sauna made from volcanic stones and involves four stages of relaxing purification.

Explore the authentic tastes of Tulum with this walking tour led by a local guide. You and your small group of fellow foodies will get away from the touristy part of town, where you'll get the chance to try all sorts of traditional dishes and popular snacks, from tacos to tamales to traditional desserts.
