I have spent most of my 50s doing city breaks in places like Rome and Paris. Tromsø was my first “nature” stop, and this tour made me wonder why I waited so long. Pickup from the hotel was right on time, and the group was small, just a handful of us. The guide knew lots about the Arctic and helped us stay warm hot drinks. When the sky finally cleared the aurora above the fjords, it felt more meaningful than any famous monument I have seen.

The lights put on a show for us. We visited several roadside public parking sites and finished with a short walk up the mountain where we had a very welcome fire with hot chocolate and kvik lunj bars. Back to the ship at midnight. Thermal suits available for the asking but we just wore our warmest clothes. It was very cold. We liked the small group. Lots of pictures. We were picked up and delivered at out ship so very convenient. We all enjoyed it very much.
