Amazing tour. Picked up from our accomodation in a comfortable van with a group of only 8 people. We drove a long time because of bad weather in Tromso. We ended up in Finland and it was all worth it! Amazing lights and a great hot choccy and corn by a fire to finish it off. Great experience, would 100% recommend.

Jinyar was our tour guide and driver who takes our pictures. He also will look for the NL for us. Recommend this group for more time personally

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for your kind recommendation! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience with Jinyar. Combining guiding, driving, and photography is all part of creating a smooth and personal Northern Lights chase, so it’s great to know that made a difference for you. Small groups allow us to spend more time with each guest and stay flexible while searching for the best conditions, and we’re glad you appreciated that approach. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to see you again for another Arctic adventure in the future. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway

Light it up!

Tina_C, Mar 2026
Zein did an incredible job chasing the northern lights. The lights did not disappoint. I have heard that some tours go out and never see them but that was not our experience at all. We saw all the lights, then we had a campfire and Zein told us some of the history of the country and the science behind the lights. We even got to see a proposal…she said yes! It was a magical night for all.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you so much for your amazing review! We’re truly happy to hear that the night turned out to be so special for you. Northern Lights are never guaranteed, so it’s always a great feeling when everything comes together and the sky delivers such a beautiful display. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed not only the aurora, but also the stories, the science behind it, and the time around the campfire. And witnessing a proposal under the Northern Lights… that’s something truly unforgettable! Thank you again for joining us, and we hope the memories from that magical Arctic night stay with you forever. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway

Highly recommended tour

Kelly_K, Mar 2026
Tour guide Zein is very good and professional, he shared a lot of northern light information with us, taking good care of us and capture great photos. And i like the campfire experience.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you very much for your kind review! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience and appreciated the guiding. Sharing knowledge about the Northern Lights and making sure everyone feels comfortable and well taken care of is a big part of what we aim to do. It’s also great to know that you enjoyed the campfire experience and the photos from the evening — those moments under the Arctic sky are always special. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable night in Tromsø. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway

the driver tried his best but 9 hours travelling was too long

peter_O, Mar 2026
the whole tour took 9 hours and we were travelling for about 8 trying to find the lights. The driver tried his best but the group felt it was far too long and experience would have shown there was no chance on this particular evening. The mini bus was quite old and uncomfortable , especially sitting near the draft door. fortunately were were able to see them on a boat cruise later in the week.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for joining our Northern Lights tour. Aurora hunting in Arctic regions can sometimes require long distances and patience. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed, so our approach is always to search for clear skies and the best possible viewing conditions. On some nights this means traveling further than usual as weather systems change quickly across Northern Norway. The decision to continue searching is typically made with the group during the evening, as most travelers join this experience specifically for the opportunity to see the aurora even when conditions are challenging. Regarding the vehicle, we operate a licensed minibus designed for larger passenger capacity but configured with fewer seats for additional space and comfort during small-group tours. We did not receive any comments about discomfort during the tour itself, but we still appreciate the feedback and will review it internally. We are glad to hear you were able to see the Northern Lights later during your stay in the region, and we hope you still took away some memorable moments from the Arctic landscape and the effort made to find clear skies that evening. Thank you again for traveling with us.

Worth it.

Gregory_S, Mar 2026
This was an amazing experience. They picked us up from our accommodation in Alarmvegen in a comfortable van. The guide (whose name I forget but he was great) explained that we were going to a lookout spot that looked good, but that we might change course depending on the clouds, forecast, etc. He had a headset and was watching a bunch of weather data on his phone so who knows, but it felt legit lol. The sky in Tromsø was completely overcast earlier but by the time we got to the spot it was very clear. It was VERY cold but he built a fire, gave us hot chocolate and marshmallows, and it was lovely. Highly recommend: - Bring hand warmers. You'll have your hands out of your gloves a lot to take pictures. We had the kind where you snap the metal thing inside and they were a lifesaver. - They do provide body suits but we didn't need them. It was only about -1 C. - Choose a time when there's less of a moon. The moonlight makes the aurora quite grey to the naked eye (but the photos still look amazing). We did get one strong one where we could see all the colors even with the full moon though, so if you've already booked during full moon, don't worry! You'll still see them! - Genuinely, don't lose hope if the weather looks awful. Obviously it's never guaranteed, but the sky at the lookout point was completely clear while Tromsø was overcast, and it was only 1.5 hours drive away. - Do eat dinner first. - We saw the large bus tours and even though this one is a lot more expensive, I'm glad we did it. There were busses at the same spot, but we got the fire and our own area where it was just such a stunning experience. I was agonizing over the cost, and to be fair I felt better about it after we saw some amazing aurora, but even the baseline experience was really nice.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re really glad you enjoyed the experience and that the effort to search for clearer skies paid off. Conditions can change quickly around Tromsø, so we constantly monitor weather data and cloud movement to find locations where the chances of seeing the Northern Lights are better. It’s great to hear that the evening by the fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows made the experience even more enjoyable despite the cold. And thank you as well for sharing helpful tips for future travelers — staying warm and being prepared for Arctic conditions definitely makes the experience more comfortable. We also appreciate your comment about choosing a small group tour. Smaller groups allow us to stay flexible, reach quieter locations, and create a more relaxed atmosphere while waiting for the aurora. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope the memories and photos from that night stay with you for many years. Warm regards, Alshemal Norway

Had a driver and a guide, Jinyar. Picked us at our apartment and dropped us back. They were focused. Not much conversation in the start or vehicle. Then got chat at the campfire. Had another trip the other night, but this one managed to get us a good spot, small group of 7, also got some shorts of the northern lights, good photos. Given thermal suits which does help sitting in cold with campfire. Highly recommended

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. A focused start usually means the team is tracking conditions and planning the route — conversations come easier once we’re under clearer skies and settled at the stop. That night required finding the right window and location, and a small group makes it possible to move efficiently and secure those spots without rush. We’re glad the thermal suits, campfire, and photography made the experience more comfortable and memorable in the cold. Great to hear you joined another Aurora trip as well and could compare — every night behaves differently, and this one aligned well. We appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you again under Tromsø’s winter skies.

Great experience, would 100% recommend.

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely review We’re really glad you enjoyed the full experience — from the small group setting and comfortable pickup to the long chase that finally paid off with clear skies in Finland. Nights like these are exactly why we stay flexible with routes and distances, especially when weather in Tromsø is challenging. Hot chocolate, the campfire, and quiet Arctic moments are our way of slowing things down after the chase — we’re happy it was the perfect finish to your night. Thank you for the strong recommendation, and we’d love to welcome you back under the northern skies again someday.

Amazing

YUKA_Y, Dec 2025
It was an amazing experience. I didn’t realise how important it was to choose the right place to observe. They are great at chasing the northern lights.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for sharing this Choosing the right location at the right moment is everything with the Northern Lights, and we’re happy you felt the difference that active chasing makes. Every night is unique, and reading the sky, weather, and landscape in real time is what we truly love doing. Thank you for trusting us and for joining the chase — we hope to welcome you back to the Arctic again someday.

Above and beyond

Samantha_A, Dec 2025
We were unlucky with the weather but Zein did absolutely everything he possibly could to find clear patches - including taking us all over to Finland. There were only 8 of us. He had good cosy suits for people to wear; made a lovely fire and the best hot chocolate ever!

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you so much for sharing this. Weather can be unpredictable in the Arctic, but we’re really glad you felt the dedication behind the chase that night. Going the extra distance, keeping the group small, making everyone warm and comfortable, and creating a cozy atmosphere around the fire are all part of how we approach Northern Lights tours. Thank you for trusting us and for recognizing the effort. We hope to welcome you back to Tromsø under clearer skies next time.

Great trip - highly recommend

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for the kind recommendation. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed the clear skies, strong aurora activity, and the small-group experience. Keeping groups limited allows us to move efficiently, stay flexible with weather conditions, and create a calm atmosphere around the campfire — exactly how a Northern Lights chase should feel. Thank you for choosing to explore the Arctic with us and for sharing your experience. We truly appreciate it and hope to welcome you back to Tromsø again.

Very good guide persistence in finding Aurora exceptional

May be a long ride but very worth it. Dress warm they will supply jacket and bottoms. Great experience

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience. On our tours we provide full thermal suits designed for Arctic conditions (rated to around –20°C), covering the entire body for warmth and comfort. We always recommend wearing warm layers underneath as well, as some nights can be colder than others depending on weather and wind. We’re happy to hear the long ride was worth it and that you enjoyed the experience. Thank you for choosing Alshemal Norway. we are looking forward to see you again.

Fun aurora chasing

Rachel_B, Dec 2025
Alshemal is a great guide, very positive and happy. He provided hotel pick up and thermal suits. We had hot chocolate while we watched the aurora dance. He also took some great professional photos of us. The van fit 7 people so we weren't crowded. Would definitely recommend if you're in Tromso.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

thank you so much for the lovely review! It was a pleasure having you with us on the chase, and we’re really glad the relaxed small-group setup, hot drinks, and photo moments helped make the night feel special. Hearing that you’d recommend us means a lot — that’s exactly why we keep the groups intimate and the guiding personal. If you ever return to Tromsø, you’re always welcome back around our campfire. Warm greetings from the Arctic skies,

A Peaceful Night Under the Dancing Northern Lights

Sunny_Y, Nov 2025
I joined the light-chasing tour with my friend and had such an amazing experience! Our guide was very experienced and brought us to a quiet lake with a breathtaking view of the northern lights. It was just our group there, calm and peaceful. We stayed for hours by the campfire, roasting corn and enjoying hot chocolate while watching the aurora dance across the sky. Truly an unforgettable and magical night.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you, Sunny. We’re so happy to hear that you and your friend had such a peaceful and memorable night. Watching the aurora dance over the lake while sitting by the fire is one of those moments that truly captures the Arctic spirit. We’re glad you enjoyed the campfire, the warm drinks, and the calm atmosphere. It was a pleasure having you both with us — hope to see you again for another magical night under the Northern Lights.

Bucket list checked!

Nicole_R, Nov 2025
You cannot control the sun or the temperature or the skies but you CAN control which tour you take. Victor was absolutely amazing. He worked so hard chasing pockets of open sky deep into Finland. He made certain that we experienced the Aurora and took amazing photos for us to have forever. Drinking cocoa in the frozen landscape of Finland was magical. Dress warm (especially your toes!) and follow all of the instructions of the tour director. I cannot recommend this tour, and especially this guide enough!

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you, Nicole. We’re so happy to hear you had such a memorable night chasing the Northern Lights with Victor. He always goes the extra mile . quite literally .to find the best clear skies, even if it means crossing deep into Finland. It’s great to know you enjoyed the warm drinks, the atmosphere, and those moments under the Arctic sky. We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again for another night of adventure and Northern Lights magic.

What an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Mark, was so amazing! Van was super comfortable. We were so lucky we went the night we went and the skies were clear. Saw the beautiful northern lights and admired them for a while. Mark came prepared and started a campfire and brought some corn to grill and made hot chocolate. As cold as it was, he made it so cozy! Will definitely do this tour again when I come back to Norway!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Great expreience highly recommended

Ken_R, Oct 2025
We had always wanted to see the Northern Lights and were not disappointed. We chose a small group so that we could move quickly as weather conditions changed. Tromso, our starting point was overcast but our excellent guide, Jinyar drove us to several sights looking for clear skies with the Aurora display improving at each one. After 2 hours we ended up near the Finish border watching the display against the stars eating marshmallows and corn toasted on a camp fire. Jinyar took great pictures of everyone which we downloaded the next day. If we had relied on our own old iPhone (SE) we would have had no photos as it had poor night picture capabilty.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you, Ken, for sharing your experience. We’re very glad you enjoyed the Northern Lights chase and appreciated the flexibility of our small-group setup. Jinyar and our team always do their best to find clear skies and create a comfortable atmosphere, even when the weather is challenging. It’s great to know the campfire stop and professional photos added to the night. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another Arctic adventure in Tromsø.

Loved it

rakhisnair, Oct 2025
Well organized and the guide was excellent. It was a cloudy and rainy day but I had no choice so he made the best efforts and I could get some decent pictures. We left at 7pm and reached back after 1am. I was traveling solo and was taken good care of. If I ever travel again to Tromso I'm doing this again.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you so much for your kind words and for trusting us even on a cloudy night! We’re really glad you still managed to capture some great moments — our team always does everything possible to find the best skies, no matter the forecast. Traveling solo takes courage, and we’re happy you felt well taken care of throughout the journey. We’ll be thrilled to welcome you again under clearer skies next time in Tromsø!

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you very much for your kind words and for sharing your experience. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Northern Lights chase, and even more that you witnessed the aurora dancing on your tour. Experiencing the first snow of the season alongside the lights makes the evening even more special. We truly appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back to Tromsø again in the future.

Feeling lucky

Patricia_M, Sep 2025
It was an interesting experience. Our tour guide was very good and put a lot of effort into giving us a great experience in spite of the weather conditions (clouded over and raining). When we thought we would not see any northern light, we waited and fortunately We got very lucky in seeing the sky clear up the way it did, considering the consistently cloudy cloudy conditions.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are pleased you enjoyed the dedication of your guide and that the skies cleared to reveal the Northern Lights. While Arctic weather can be unpredictable, it takes more than luck to find the aurora. Our team combines knowledge, experience, and live advanced forecasts to give our guests the best possible chance. Your feedback is very valuable and helps us continue to improve our service. We hope to welcome you back to Tromsø again in the future.

Great Guide - Better than the rest!

Benjamin_K, Mar 2025
Our guide was a very knowledgeable caring individual. We traveled with a family of 4 (8 and 10 year olds) and all had a great time. We were literally the last ones to leave. Every other group came and left; our guide wanted to stay later because later was predicted to be the height of the display. I don’t want to jinx him, but he’s only not found the aurora twice. So, chances are great if you book with these guys because they genuinely want the best experience; even if that comes at their time. 5/5 stars! Oh, and it’s COLD thermal suit or no suit so wear layers.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the fantastic review! We’re delighted to hear that you and your family had such a great time and that our guide’s dedication made your trip so special. It’s always our priority to provide the best possible experience, even if it means staying out late for the perfect moment. We’re thrilled to know you appreciated our guide’s expertise and care—it’s guests like you who make what we do so rewarding. Great reminder about the layers; staying warm is essential to fully enjoying those magical nights! We hope to see you again for more adventures in the future. Safe travels and best wishes!

Great experience enhanced by the agility to move fast (small group) to find the right spot to see the aurora.

Elcio_P, Feb 2025
This is a very exclusive tour with no more than 5 people. It simplifies and gives more flexibility and agility during more than 8 hours tour. The guide managed to find a nice spot where we’re able to see the northern lights several times during the night.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We're thrilled to hear that the small group size and flexibility of the tour enhanced your adventure. Our focus is always on creating an exclusive and personal experience for our guests, and we're glad our guide's expertise helped you witness the magic of the northern lights multiple times. We hope to welcome you again for more unforgettable moments under the Arctic sky!

Eine unvergessliche Nacht

Ingeborg_L, Feb 2025
Absolut empfehlenswert.

Response from Host, Feb 2025
