Such a wonderful experience!! Really glad we did it and would love to do it again! We wanted a skiing experience that was accesibile easily in Tromso and safe, and we loved this activity. Well organised and the lesson was well taught. Highly recommend! 😊

This was so fun! The guides were fantastic. Being on the ski trail was a great experience, not just for the joy of being out in nature on the snow, but seeing the diverse spectrum of locals out enjoying the trail for recreation or as their preferred mode of transport, I feel like this experience expanded my cultural perspective.

Overview

Try your cross-country skiing skills on this small-group adventure in beautiful Tromso. Your instructor teaches you the technique you need to glide over the snow. Just meet at the designated spot, then pick out your included skis, boots, and poles. Do some practicing, then head out with your guide into the countryside.

Cost $50 for taxi from Viking ship…may have been better to shuttle from ship to city center then taxi up hill to park. Lovely young guide. Gave us chocolate from a Shared bar-but NO hot beverage or even water provided. Be VERY careful walking from parking lot to skiing area! I fell HARD before I even got my skis on! Those boots for skis are not worthy of ice! Loved the area we skied

From the minute we arrived, our instructors were lovely and welcoming. I had never skied before and was nervous to start. They were exceptional with their teaching methods (both competitive skiers), support and encouragement through the whole session. They warm nature made for a great experience and they passed on as may helpful tips and tricks as they could. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Tromso!!

2nd time Nordic Skiing with these guys. It's hard work but good fun. I did worse this time than my first try 2 years ago, falling going down the slope. Oh well. A little disappointed by the amount of hot drink we got served during the break, barely a bottom of a cut, not enough to warm us up.

Good introductory experience of Nordic skiing. Guides were very nice. I think it’s overpriced - double what its value is so have dropped two stars.

The price covers professional instruction, high-quality equipment, prepared tracks, transport and logistics, staffing, safety, and a fully organized small-group experience in Arctic conditions. All of this carries significant real costs. We understand that not every experience matches every budget or expectation, but the value of a guided, fully supported Nordic skiing experience cannot be compared to simple self-service rentals or informal outings. We stand by both the quality and the pricing of this tour, and we appreciate your visit.

Very enjoyable experience! I learned the basics of cross country skiing and could exercice to build my level. The coaches adapted to the level of each participant and gave personalised advice. A small pause with a hot drink and chocolate at a beautiful view point was nice too!

Disappointing experience & would not recommend

Unfortunately, this was the worst experience out of the 20+ activities we booked during our week in Tromsø for the holidays. We arrived about 5 minutes late due to unreliable local buses. We were very apologetic and even asked if we should cancel or reschedule instead. While we were ultimately allowed to join, the response from one of the guide was delivered with a very unpleasant and unwelcoming attitude. The couple before us experienced the same treatment, which already set a negative tone for the tour. During the activity itself, the guides (Rolf and Ine) seemed to focus their attention on only a few participants, while others were largely ignored. Photos were offered to other participants, small talk and assistance were given freely, yet my daughter and I were completely overlooked. This felt uncomfortable and, honestly, came across as DISCRIMINATORY. We fully understand the importance of punctuality and respect that, but there is also a way to handle situations professionally and kindly especially in tourism. Sadly, that was missing here. Tromsø has so many amazing experiences and wonderful tour operators. I would recommend skipping this one, or if you truly want to learn cross-country skiing, consider booking with a different company.

We take accusations of discrimination extremely seriously, and we will be very clear: We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, and none took place during this tour. What did happen is that you arrived late. While you describe this as “only five minutes,” lateness on a guided tour affects the entire group and the schedule that all other guests have paid for. Our guides still chose to let you join, even though this disrupts the flow of instruction and the experience for everyone else. Your delay — regardless of the reason — cannot come at the expense of other participants. It is also incorrect to claim that you were ignored or treated differently. Our guides work continuously to manage safety, equipment, instruction, pacing, and guest needs across the entire group. Attention is given where it is needed at any given moment. It is neither possible nor appropriate for guides to provide identical amounts of interaction to every individual at all times. Suggesting discrimination because you did not receive the same level of small talk or photo assistance as others is both unfair and unfounded. Serious allegations require evidence, not perception. None exists here. Your experience was not diminished by bias — it was affected by arriving late to a group activity that had already started. Despite this, you were still welcomed in and allowed to participate. We are proud of our guides and the professional, respectful way they treat all guests. We reject the narrative presented in this review and stand fully by how this tour was conducted.

The two young women leading the group were some of the best guides I've had -- friendly, informative, inclusive and fun. Our group of 8 included people with some experience cross country skiing and one in particular who could barely move without falling. And yet it somehow was managed well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Those of us who were better skied ahead at some points and weren't bored and the slower ones got plenty of encouragement.

We had a great time cross-country skiing! The instructors were highly experienced, friendly, attentive, and well organized. Norway’s national sport can be physically challenging, but if that’s your thing you won’t be disappointed. A good sense of balance is helpful. The park is beautiful, the equipment is in great shape, and you just can’t beat skiing when it comes to having a truly authentic Norwegian experience.

Very good time trying out Cross-Country skiing. Much fun, hard work getting legs and arms coordinated. It was excellent as was our guide / teacher Gulbranden´s Outdoor & Events. I would highly recommend this experience of the National Norwegian Sport.

we had a great time at Charlottenlung with our guide. She was great with explaining everything and I praise her patience...lol. She was very helpful and made sure to work with everyone at their own pace. Did I fall down - oh yes.....but I got up each time and carried on. It was a great experience. Thank you.
