Bucket list Fantastic - no guided tour needed

    Tracy_V, Oct 2025
Bucket list Venice for us and we didn’t want to miss it. Only having limited time in port, and being 2hours away we preferred to trust a tour rather than ourselves. Our tour guide on the bus was great. Very friendly, got us all together quickly. Once in Venice, he made sure we were always together and safe. The boat road along the canal into Venice a fantastic ‘welcome to Venice’. Only downside was the tour guide in Venice was slow and we felt we were wasting valuable time with too much history and useless info while standing in one spot too long. We didn’t have long and wanted to explore as much as possible. Many of us, left the tour, went on our own, rode a gondola (incredible) and met the group back at the meeting point ready to head back on the boat to the bus. Overall an incredible day, worthwhile, a shame the guided tour wasn’t better, but we were back in plenty of time.

    A day in Venice

If you only have one day to explore Venice, this is the tour for you. Our guide was very knowledgeable of Venice and its history. The tour provided just enough insight to the city to make me want to come back and spend a few more days in this beautiful city.

    Disappointed in Venice.

    Daniel_B, Aug 2025
Well The first part was ok bus ride and getting to Venice . However our tour guide Marza was not very personable and gave confusing directions at times . When we arrived in Venice the tour moved quickly leaving little time for pictures and such , we were under the impression that that a gondola ride would be included since Venice is the place for gondola, but sadly we were informed that the ride on the ferry was the canal ride , really what a disappointment.. Anyway the tour was quick paced and only a hour of free time , not nearly enough to capture the essence of Venice. At the end no clear info on wher to get back on ferry . We waited in one area and the J A T people were and another ferry you think they would come over and say boarding here But again no personal touch just felt impersonal. On the way back we had a problem with seating on the bus . Marza told us we could leave items on the bus but when we boarded someone was sitting in the seats my wife is disabled and we sat in front seat and had a unpleasant encounter with person sitting what we thought were our seats , instead of trying to defuse incident Marza said no seats are saved and walked away. Very unprofessional. Very unpleased with viator on this except on tours of Italy and tours of Barcelona quite a difference in how we were treated more personable and more professional. Marza seamed to spend more time on her phone on the bus that explaining sights . Maybe it’s me but I felt like cattle not a tourist , would not use Viator again.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

We regret to hear you were disappointed in Venice - one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Please allow us to address the concerns you raised: 1. Mariza is not a guide, but a tour coordinator who assisted the group during the transfer. The licensed guide joined the group in Venice, as clearly stated in the tour description. 2. The tour includes a boat ride, not a gondola ride. Gondola rides are available at your own expense during the free time provided. 3. The amount of free time included was in full accordance with the itinerary 4. Due to Venice’s remote location from Trieste (approximately 2 hours each way), the tour follows a moderate pace. If you'd prefer a more relaxed visit with extended time in the city, we recommend returning by air and allowing at least a full day to explore. 5. For a more personalized experience and attention to individual needs, we suggest considering private tours instead of shared group options. 6. Seat reservations are not offered on shared tours. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 7. Suitcases are welcome on board, but in Venice, they must be stored at the public luggage facility next to the parking area. 8. Please note that this tour is not wheelchair or scooter accessible. We made an exception for your wife as a gesture of goodwill. Fortunately, your review is the only negative feedback we received from the entire group, but we will reconsider making such exceptions in the future. 9. Once again, Mariza is a tour coordinator, not a guide. Her role is to assist during transfers, not to provide historical commentary. As such, she is free to use her phone during this time. Thank you for acknowledging Viator as a great platform. The company continues to grow, serving millions of travelers worldwide each day. Wishing you all the best in your future travels.

Beautiful City - Not for the Mobility Challenged

    JosephR_C, May 2025
It is a good introduction to the city of Venice for first time visitors. Venice is NOT a city for people with mobility disabilities. Although a beautiful place, lots of stairs, walking, and little to no shuttle capability outside of very expensive water taxi service. People are nice, food is great.....services are expensive and not readily available for those with challenges.
