Photos on the Viator website, which are stunning, cannot fully capture the exterior beauty of the castle and its property. The interior was amazing. The audio guides were a great addition.
The cave journey was beyond expectations. We’ve been to several on the US, but the magnificence of this one was overwhelming. A true wonder of nature! Definitely a “don’t miss” excursion!

The entire experience was amazing, our driver was knowledgeable and friendly, but the views and the castle were enough of a once of a lifetime experience, thanks again to all in the tour!

Matthew from Koper was our guide. He picked us up promptly from Trieste. We had a lovely drive to the castle and then cave. He gave us interesting information about the region. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and Matthew was a good guide.

Dean was an amazing guide. They were very easy to talk to ahead of time to ensure we were in the correct spot. Kept the drive lively and was super prepared. 100% recommend to anyone who wants to see Slovenia and experience an amazing natural space.

Ernest was an affable and engaging guide. His anecdotes provided a glimpse into the economic fortunes of Slovenia. The castle visit was a time warp into Slovenia’s medieval past. The cave a brilliant example of a Karst geographical landscape. A must do visit from the wonderful city of Trieste.

The cave was a great experience and the largest we’ve seen. You need to move quickly through the cave in order to catch the train. The castle was not the most interesting. The castle had a toilet issue but failed to communicate that to the visitors. The tour guide was excellent, informative and entertaining.

Ernie was our guide. Couldn’t have been any better! Picked us up at the port exactly as stated. I’d recommend bringing extra jacket as you’ll definitely need it in the cave. Ernie was pleasant and informative noting points of interest along the way. Great experience.

We were notified that since this tour was timed with our cruise ship, the group would be larger (I think it was two buses). The operator gave plenty of opportunity to change if you wanted smaller tour. (Someone complained on our bus but it never was billed as a guided tour-they provided bus transport and got tickets to sights for us). We were met right outside our cruise ship with clearly marked personnel. Both sights are interesting. The entire excursion is just long enough of a day to then have a little free time to walk around Trieste for a few hours. The caves were unbelievable. I recommend that you wear good shoes and be physically fit since there are some ups and downs on ramps. I did see some people manage with a cane. It's a bit wet in the caves as expected. Dress warm too since it is damp.

Our guide / driver, Ernest, was fantastic, knowledgeable, sense of humour and a very good driver.
Visiting the caves and the castle was a wonderful experience, only drawback, hence only 4 stars, was the audio in the cave.

Our guide Ernest was the best, described everything on our way to the caves and castle. Slovenia is beautiful and well worth the short jaunt from Trieste. He made sure we got back in time to board our ship at 2:00 pm. Dropped us off at the port. Met at the hotel across from the port. Made it easy to pick up tour and depart on time. My PSA: Please tip your guides as you would a restaurant server. Enjoy

Enjoyed seeing the castle’s architecture & learning its history.
The cave exploration had a cool train ride through a narrow tunnel into the cave interior. Felt that interior lighting could have been better.

The weather was not cooperating the day we went on this tour but that did not impact our incredible experience. The castle was quite impressive and the caves were spectacular! Simple tour, well organised. We were sent an email il with a centralised meeting point and time the night before, very simple. The driver took us to each locations, purchased the respective tickets for us. At each location he explained the entry process and a time and meeting point for departure that gave us ample time to visit the attractions and then browse the area or enjoy some light refreshments.

The Castle was very interesting, different from every other castle you see. It was fun to walk through it. A good audio guide is included.
The caves were huge, be prepared to walk up and down a paved path, after you get off the train. I would not recommend for very young children, or mobility impaired.
A great day trip. Driving distance is reasonable, not spending all day getting to the sites. We had wonderful weather, blue sky and fresh air.
Our guide was Matt. He got us all our tickets for entrances and made it easy for us. We would take a tour with him again and would recommend him.
All in all a great day.
