Q:How long does this activity take?
A:The kimono rental experience usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours from the time you arrive until you’re fully dressed and, your hair is styled. After that, you’re free to stroll around and enjoy the area in your kimono. Just make sure to return the kimono to the store by 5:30 PM on the same day.

I'd say this one of the best things we spent our money on when visiting Tokyo. Inside their air conditioned studio, we were shown a big selection of kimonos and accessories to choose from and they helped our family coordinate colors so that our pictures would turn out amazing. And they did! They privately helped you get dressed and gave several options for hairstyles. The photographer accompanied us on a short walk to Senso-Ji and knew all of the best spots to take pictures. We received 50+ pictures by email less than a week later and chose 12 to be edited and resent to us. My entire family felt this was beyond worth the money and have fantastic pictures reminding us of our time in Tokyo.

This experience is almost ceremonial in nature. The ladies were all extremely helpful throughout the preparations and the photographer was fun to work with as well. We booked the outside photography session and our photographer toured us around several shrines in the area for pictures. If you have time and want a unique experience, I highly recommend this service with photographer.

The kimono rental and photo shoot experience was wonderful and exciting! There were many beautiful kimonos to choose from, and as a plus-size woman (3X), I really appreciated how helpful the staff was throughout the entire process. The hair design was stunning, and the photographer, Tomokazu, was absolutely amazing—he knew exactly how to pose me and picked great locations for the shoot. There were also many opportunities to take pictures with props, which made it even more fun. The location was easy to find, and there were options to buy food and cool souvenirs nearby. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish!

It was a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to see the photos. Be aware that the kimono dressing is authentic meaning it is quite tight around your center like a girdle so be aware as you walk around afterwards. I would have opted for tennis shoes instead of slippers as well if you do not mind taking pics in shoes. Our photographer Three was great and we really enjoyed his company! Everyone is so friendly at the location where multiple languages are spoken. Would consider upgrading to premium kimono next time since the designs and fabric look amazing.

From the second I entered the doors, everyone was super helpful! They had a great flow, plan, and executed! It seems every detail was thought of! The staff was super friendly and attentive, and I opted for the photo session! After a short walk with my photographer, we made it over to the temple/shrine area for some awesome pictures! My photographer was super nice, very kind and had a plan for every pose, none of that awkward standing around! I’m waiting for the pics to come back but I couldn’t be more excited to see them!

Our kimono photoshoot was very good! We were able to select our kimonos from their wide variety of colorful outfits. Additionally, they were ideally located near Senso-ji, within walking distance of the temples and shrines which are excellent backdrops for our photographs. Our photographer Yuki took many different photos of us at Senso-ji and we were very satisfied with the results. A terrific way to preserve our memories of our visit to Tokyo.

Must do! Highlight of the trip! They give you extra time to wear the kimono so no need to do the temples in Asakusa separately. Do them in the kimono! My husband is 6’4” and they were also able to accommodate him! Super amazing experience.

This was an amazing experience. The women dressed me in a kimono of my choice; so many beautiful colors and patterns. They were very kind, efficient and I could tell they loved their work. After they dressed me, I had my hair done with accessories. My sons and boyfriend were dressed very handsomely. Luke was our photographer. He was very friendly, talented and personable. He took a large variety of photos with different outdoor backgrounds, poses, etc. He emailed us the preliminary photos before we even left Tokyo. Highly highly recommend this!! Great cultural event to do with friends and family!!

I felt beautiful, they made me beautiful. They were amazing and I took the kimono all the way to shibuya. Note this is 30-40 min away from shibuya better if you book an earlier time you will get to keep it for longer

YAE Kimono Rental was absolutely fantastic! The whole process was very smooth: they had staff to help us select/put on/take off the kimono, and there was nothing we had to worry about. Our photographer took LOTS of beautiful and professional photos for us, and the photo editing service was fantastic, too. We absolutely enjoyed our day with the kimono in Asakusa; even some American/European foreigners stopped us to take selfies! It was one of the highlights of our Tokyo trip.
Special shoutout to our photographer. She was very professional and very patient with our kids. She knows how to make kids smile and laugh. Thank you for capturing these beautiful moments for my family!

I had the best time ever doing this! The staff was so helpful helping me pick out a kimono, accessories, and a hairstyle. Even just this part would make it worth it, but then I got my photos taken and it blew me out of the water. My photographer, K, was so wonderful and funny- every smile in my photos were genuine! Very beautiful selection of yukata and kimono. We rented ours to go to a summer festival. They have children's sizes as well. From choosing your yukata, to dressing, to hair, everything is done with such care! My daughter and I really enjoyed the experience. Have not felt that beautiful since my wedding day. The location is right next to the Asakusa train station and is walking distance to Kappabashi street.

This place is lovely! The staff is so sweet, welcoming, and fun, and their system is very organized. Their hair stylists are super talented, fun, and fast. Don't forget to do your own makeup before coming there, I think they do hair only. You come out looking and feeling gorgeous and highly recommend do it with the photograohy option. Photos are taken outdoors, lots of pretty spots all walkable (hydrate if in summer!) Upon arriving, take elevator up I think to the third floor, it's clearly labelled outside on ground floor as well. The Asakusa and Ginza lines on train are stone's throw away from studio. Can taxi or train there. In Asakusa neighborhood, by Sensoji Temple. Saw couples n fams there too, my family opted out but I'm glad I did this! Photos come back in a week for you to download within 30 days and of these you send back the ones you want as finished/edited final products depending on what package you choose. Just did my seasion two days ago, so awaiting my pics in a week or so. It was very hot and you are layered up in the yukata dress (they dress you) and kimono is option but heavier less breathable fabric I was advised to wear yukata lighter weight but you still have slip, base layer, possible towels or other wraps inside before the main layer goes on. Vending machines easy on street level once you are out taking pics ao easy to grab some cold water etc if you dont have with you.

I’m 37, my mom is in her 60’s. This was a perfect mother daughter experience. There were families doing the same thing with their little girls. Doesn’t matter your age, this was priceless.
