This was a surprise last minute booking and are we ever happy we did it. We saw animals that we’d never seen before like a platypus. and lots of nocturnal creatures.
One huge bonus…, we got to take photos with (not cuddling) a koala. We were only a few feet away. The caregiver, Jess, answered all of questions and took over a dozen photos.
What a great few hours. Highly recommend. The brochure recommended one hour but we took longer.

Great for adults and kids! Wonderful location and staff! Very knowledgeable! We went closer to closing time and the koalas were more active!

Save your time and money and visit the zoo instead. A few good exhibits, but, lots of empty space between exhibits. Perfect for someone who wishes to stay in the local area and get a glimpse of the native animals.
Catherine_M, Apr 2026
Really wonderful to see all the animals up close. Also less than 2 minute walk to Hop-on Hop- off bus stop
Debra_H, Mar 2026
It was a great place to see animals that are in Australia up close. So low key and no huge crowds. So much fun!
Kevin_T, Mar 2026
Excellent way to see Australia's unique wildlife in a short time. Very good biologist talk. Hard to hear her at times considering the narrow hallways we were walking through.
Diane_P, Feb 2026
It has more than advertised. Enjoy at your own pace. No guide. It doesn’t open until 10 am. So don’t arrive early.
Really enjoyed it and didn’t have to go the the zoo. Saw what I wanted to see.
William_S, Nov 2025
Be prepared for the first half of the "wildlife" experience to have little to no actual wildlife. The second half of the exhibit you do get to see kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles.
William_S, Oct 2025
Waste of money and Waste time. Very little choice, one animal per place. I wish I had gone to the zoo.
Terry_P, May 2025
We saw the tree kangaroo; the Tasmania Devil was WILD - running up and down, the kangaroos were uncaged and chillin’, with the Emu! We saw a Cassowary. Also had snakes and lizards!
Fritz_C, Feb 2025
Lots signs but fewer animals. Did not see any wombat, adult kangaroos, python, exotic birds, etc., only two sleeping koalas. not worth the ticket.
Kiersten_S, Nov 2024
It was quite sad- didnt feel like the animals were treated well - felt more like a carnival than a wild life sanctuary.
Elenoa_T, Nov 2024
Great option if you’re swamped for time and can’t make it to the big zoo. Loved it. Would recommend to others if you visiting.
Sheryl_G, Oct 2024
We went to the wrong zoo!! This place was a total waste of our time & $$$. Don’t make the same mistake we did—be sure to go to Taronga Zoo by ferry. Glad that we got the Viator discount & didn’t pay full price.
Carmina_T, Oct 2024
The kids had a great time, especially they were able to see a crocodile up close. There were a lot of animals not available though - some were hiding or the enclosures were closed due to maintenance.
Razvan_S, Apr 2024
The kangaroos were cute but I expected to see something more, maybe shows and explanation of the animals. Quite disappointing!
LINDA_B, Apr 2024
Got to spend a lot of time with the koalas and kangaroos. Staff was so informative, polite and knowledgeable! Nice facility and not so large that we couldn't get it done in the few hours we had.
Naruhisa_O, Mar 2024
Taronga Zoo Sydney is bigger and has more animals, but if you have a tight schedule, I recommend visiting Wild Life Sydney instead. It is a wildlife park located in the Darling Harbour precinct, on the western edge of the Sydney central business district (CBD).
I was surprised by the size of the building and the variety of Australian-native animals such as koalas, kangaroos, tree kangaroos, wombats, crocodiles, reptiles, and more. Most of the building is air-conditioned, so you need not worry about hot, sunny, or rainy days.

We were very impressed with Wildlife Sydney. We did not expect a place right in Darling Harbor would have so much to offer! The place is incredibly clean and a very professional staff. Our highlight was when Tyra invited our group of four people to participate in a special animal encounter. We were taken into a back room where Oliver would explain what we were about to experience. The surprise was we had a private encounter with Princess and were each able to feed her by hand! Wow. Pretty darn cool. Terry, Lee, Bob & Linda

Seeing kangaroos and koalas... Nothing else to do. Taronga zoo much better. No staff... Nothing open... No cash anywhere.
Caroline_G, Dec 2023
Nice and short visit if you cannot spend the whole day going to Taronga. Staff were very friendly. We did Madame Tussaud’s next door afterwards, it was a good combo.

Nice up close views of Australian animals. Easy to do within a couple hours. Knowledgeable keepers with interesting talks! Nice experience!

This was my first trip to Australia. Of course I was excited to see Australian wildlife. Since the outside of the exhibit looked touristy I ceased a little skeptical but this exhibit far exceeded my expectations. It is a great place to actually see and interact with Australian wildlife.
