Really great zoo. Awesome selection of interesting animals well kept enclosures really pleasant to walk around one of the most interesting zoo I’ve been to.

Amazing zoo! We went in August. The weather was perfect - not too cold and wet with sun and a slight breeze. All the animals were out and sun bathing. Don't miss the Aviary and seal shows. Get there at the opening if you want to secure the popular animal experiences. We enjoyed the giraffe and dingo experience. Also wear walking shoes and have fun.

To gain the most out of this visit I would allow at least 6 hours. There is lots to see while there.

Having seen Taronga zoo in tv, we were excited about our experience.
However, the lack of signage on the walkways was poor and at times despite the map, we struggled to negotiate around the zoo. This was mirrored by several other visitors who appear bamboozled like us. Clear signs on each junction would be helpful.
Some enclosures were low on animals, but understand this may have good reasons for limited animals available. But bottom line we didn’t see them. The Zoo talks were good, but tricky to get to when there was two on at a time. The seal encounter was great and the bloke presenting was awesome. However, a sign on the footpath outlining a cut off - for the amount of people that could enter would be a suggestion. It seemed crazy we started queuing 30 minutes before the show.
The chimpanzee yarn was really good, as was
the Aussie animals alive presentation was excellent for us and the young kids perspective.
Zoo staff were mixed with their support. We appreciate some are volunteers, but some appeared ill informed.
Great views from the giraffe enclosure of the harbour. Cool to get up close to meerkats.
10 out of 10 for the educational angle the zoo shared.
Unfortunately, when others have asked us about this experience. We have replied that we wouldn’t suggest it.

The Zoo was fun and my inlaws had a great time seeing the animals and watching the seals perform. Definitely will recommend to my friends.
norman_h, Jul 2026
Amazing place to visit just not enough time to see it all and couldn't see all the animals
Some enclosureade it even hard to get a picture or see the animals

The Zoo had a good amount of exhibits plenty to see. The view of Syndey Harbor from the zoo is outstanding. Highly recommend starting at the top and working your way down

What a great way to spend the afternoon with cute creatures! The zoo is expansive and clean. Plan to spend the whole day there if you want to see all of the exhibits. We only had 3hrs before our boat took us back but we were still able to have a good time and see a good amount of animals.

Great selection of animals, hilly, great location, great views, easy to get to from Circular Quay, great staff

It is a beautiful zoo. Definitely worth a visit. Animal habitats are all planned and cared for. Zoo keepers give great talks. You need a full day. You can arrive by Uber and then leave by the ferry. When you purchase general ticket just go in and show your pass.

Hopefully you get a driver/ tour person who speaks clearly. We had a really nice driver but I only understood about 1/3 of his conversations because of his accent . That was disappointing.

Amazing zoo and epic encounters (Koalas). The gift shop is great and restrooms clean. Staff are friendly too.
miranda_m, Mar 2026
We loved this zoo. Everything was laid out nice and easy to navigate. We got to see most animals. Lots of shade but lots walking. They had a train to take you around the zoo. (Extra fee)
Lucy_S, Mar 2026
Brilliant zoo! So much to see and can definitely make a full day of it here! The nocturnal animals and booking the koala experience were our favourites!
Lots of lovely shade as you walk around, we went on a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy, other than the food hall which was both busy and very warm.
Christine_C, Mar 2026
An experience for all ages. Get a map and speak with volunteers as they will assist you make the most of your day. The bird show and seal show were standouts. Food is expensive so plan ahead. Lots of walking, shady spots to rest.
Jack_H, Mar 2026
Great experience with good talks for different animals throughout the day which gave a good insight. Buses pick you up from the ferry so saves you walking up the hill.
Natalie_S, Feb 2026
Great zoo, very well maintained and stunning views of the city.
Had a great amount of native species which was fun to see!
Moira_B, Jan 2026
Zoo very poor run down.
All the animals asleep. All eating place's closed. Why take booking at 2pm when all closed at 3pm. Deceitful. What a waste of money and time. Never again 🤢
Barnard_B, Jan 2026
Very scenic and affordable way to see a zoo! Plenty of wildlife and exhibits and interaction opportunities
Yvonne_F, Jan 2026
Needs more signage so people are not walking in circles. Plus a lot of the animals weren't out. Didn't see much of what I came to see.
Dave_A, Jan 2026
Overall fun experience. Lots to see and do. Remembering that your dealing with wildlife there's no guarantee you'll see everything.
Alan_V, Jan 2026
Amazing experience!! Animals were so close and easy to view. Quite amazing!! Giraffes, Tigers, Koalas and Kangaroos were our favorites!!
Armin_T, Jan 2026
Do not trust Viator. Their QR code did not work at the zoo and even with proof from zoo, they did not refund anything and blamed the zoo.
Phyllis_S, Jan 2026
The zoo was nice being able to experience the animal up close. Only minor issues is if you have elders its hills to walk but the had chairs available if you get there early
Gregory_B, Dec 2025
Bring hats and water bottles especially on hot days. There’s not a lot of shade in certain parts of the zoo and the Australian sun is unforgiving.
Dolly_H, Dec 2025
We're visitingAustralia from America and knew that we had to go to the zoo. We were not disappointed at all!!
Jim_K, Dec 2025
Visiting the Taronga Zoo was a fun experience. The exhibits were all well maintained and it is amazing how the zoo follows the natural topography of the hillside. We enjoyed seeing the animals and listening to the zookeepers presentations.
Jennifer_M, Nov 2025
The views over Sydney from all over tbe zoo are amazing. The habitats for the animals are large and well maintai ed just be aware that Viator is in USD not AUS even in Aus. This was misleading and had we known, we would have booked directly with Tarongo Zoo
Victoria_R, Nov 2025
Best time the weather was perfect and we got to see all the animals. Definitely need togo check this out.
Mark_C, Nov 2025
Don’t waste your money. A lot of empty exhibits. Not worth your time or money or energy. I wish it was a better experience.
