Itinerary

Choose from a morning or afternoon tour, and meet your private guide at the Piazza del Campo, home to Siena’s famous Palio horse race. Set off on a stroll through the medieval city’s most interesting historic neighborhoods, beginning with the Old Ghetto and the Contrada della Torre, or Tower District. Pass through narrow, winding alleyways on the way to the Basilica dei Servi, which offers a fantastic view of the well-preserved old town.

Pause among the lush serenity of the Orto dei Pecci garden tucked behind Siena’s main square, and catch a glimpse of the impressive Torre del Mangia. Snap some photos of the narrow but lively Via Duprè on the way to Orti dei Tolomei, another peaceful garden. Keep your camera handy for the views from Castelvecchio, a charming square enclosed by houses and the city’s highest point. It was also here that Siena was founded.

Visit the Museo di Contrada to learn the history behind Siena’s world-famous Palio, one of the world’s oldest horse races.
