Anita was fantastic. She kept us thoroughly entertained as she walked us through the history of Siena then gave us a feel for local life in Siena today. She provided wonderful restaurant recommendations as well as suggestions for additional things to do and tours to consider. This was one of our favorite activities while in Siena

Tom is a lovely guy. However, our tour was a disaster from start to finish. Tom, arriving late, brought an Italian friend (whom he claimed to bump into) to “help” because, in his words, he has done only 3 tours last year and was inexperienced. We had to direct Tom (& his friend, & his friend’s girlfriend—YUP) to where we should go. Ultimately, my husband and I resorted to Googling “best sites in Sienna” as we walked & made suggestions to Tom and our strange entourage, who had—you guessed it—zero suggestions. After we suggested we see the Duomo, Tom was surprised we needed tickets: we bought them ourselves.
Need I say we learned nothing?
The cherry on top was buying Tom and Giacomo coffee after they suggested it. We didn’t care, but WTF?
Viator: vet your guides. We paid over 200 US dollars for a private tour which we directed ourselves VIA GOOGLE; paid for ourselves in terms of tickets and coffee; and essentially comprised my husband and I walking next to two guys (and one girlfriend) chatting in Italian. It would have been funny if it wasn’t such a boondoggle. Never. Again.

We had a great tour of Siena with our guide Marianna. She took us around to all the great historical areas and some secret spots. We walked over 10,000 steps in 3 hours. It was December 1st, the beginning of the new year! We also learned about the 17 different families and their flags marking their family territory around the town Thanks for a great history lesson of Siena.

It was a great walking tour of Sienna, we toured all of the different neighborhoods, the university and academia hospital. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided a lot of information on the history of Sienna. I think we averaged 15,000 steps on the walk but was super fun.

Our walking tour of Siena took an unexpected turn right at the very beginning, and we cannot thank our guide, Andrea, enough for her incredible kindness and support.
Bad weather had already delayed us, and Andrea graciously adjusted her schedule. Then, one of our friends suddenly became ill and needed to go to the emergency room. Andrea immediately came with us, arranged a cab, stayed by our side, and translated for us during the entire stressful process.
When the doctors said it would be hours before our friend was released, Andrea helped the rest of us enjoy Siena by escorting us to the Palio, giving us a short introduction to this amazing tradition, and ensuring we had a place to eat. She stayed in constant touch over WhatsApp and arranged our pickup from the historic center back to the hospital, and later to the train station.
Andrea went above and beyond the role of a guide. What could have been a frightening experience became manageable thanks to her care and support. Our friend is doing much better now, and we are so deeply grateful. If you are visiting Siena, we cannot recommend Andrea highly enough.

Florence was an exquisite guide who, not only gave us insight about the city, it’s history, people, gastronomy, etc. in the most pristine Italian (this was requested since my son was attending Italian classes at Perugia after studying for 2 years in USA, and obviously he wanted to practice. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
She made it fun for us, was patient with my “hunger for pictures”😅
and went above and beyond even making sure we were safe in our car, she took us right to where I parked it before leaving us! She was simply wonderful! ❤️

We walked through parts of Siena. There didn’t seem to be a lot of fore planning and the guide had limited knowledge of the city. We ended the tour after 1-1/2 hrs as we had run out of things to see.

Very nice and engaging guide. She was accommodating to our interests and enjoyable to speak with. She knew the city but we would have liked to hear more stories. Perhaps information about the last years winner in the horse competition in the square, or a family who owns a house from their great, great, great ancestors, something to make the city have a personal “face.” The tour could be enhanced with factual, personal stories about a person who lived and or worked in the city.

Our guide, Nina, was energetic and super knowledgeable. Had great suggestions but was also open to show and talk about the things that interested us. We heard a lot of off the beaten path stories/facts that would not have occurred had we just been walking on our own without the guide. It was such a great experience to be on a private walking tour as we passed by groups of 20, 30 and 50 people.
