Overview

The rugged mountains and forest trails of the Monte Pellegrino Nature Reserve lie just north of Palermo and afford spectacular views along the coast. On this mountain bike tour, enjoy a scenic route that climbs high into the hills; visit the Grotto of Santa Rosalia, a sacred site at the top of the mount; and discover WWII ruins dotted along the coast. Fabulous ride through Mount Pellegrino.

Trip was fabulous, explanation of the original cobblestone road was explained by our fabulous guide. Taking you up the mountain, the views, historical sites of Sicily and so much more. We highly recommend this bike (e-bike ) experience. “The cobbler stone path was constructed in order to lead the faithful to the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalia. Legend has it that Saint Rosalia was the only one of the patron saints who answered the prayers of the citizens of Palermo in the time of their greatest need.” Google explanation. Side note: if you thwart to pedal up the mountain, consider taking the paces part, if taking the original cobble road (legend /story explained above) consider an e-bike (still lots of pedaling)

Sergio was a fantastic guide and historian! Going up the cobblestone road on the well oiled eMTB was something I will always remember. The history of Rosalia and visiting the grotto were icing on the cake. The views were incredible and Sergio’s narration during the trip was so informative. Definitely a trip worth experiencing, enjoying the fresh air, incredible views and a lot of history.
