Meet your instructor and a small group to begin your Brazilian culinary adventure. No experience is necessary, and you're bound to learn something new about Brazilian cooking and culture, whether you're a novice or an expert chef.

Your group will create several traditional Brazilian dishes, such as a picanha steak or a Bahian seafood Moqueca, plus several appetizers and sides. You’ll also learn how to make Brazil’s most iconic cocktail—the caipirinha—and enjoy unlimited refills throughout the class.

Listen as your instructor guides you through the process of making the dishes, taking notes if you like. Most of the ingredients used in these dishes can be found all over the world, so you'll be able to recreate them at home.

Followed by a wonderful cooking class where we learned local dishes and dined with other tourists. It was a great experience that helped ground us to the city. The cooking class was fun, interactive, and learnt a bit about native Brazilian food. We had the best cooking instructor for the night. Roberto was funny and made the entire experience worth it. If you love cooking or just curious about food, best book the class.

Good fun and good learning about Brazilian cooking. 8 people is a good number of people for such a event

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thanks for the honest feedback, we appreciate it. Eight people can be an ideal group size for interaction, and if you’d prefer a more intimate or more hands-on vibe, we can recommend other session formats. Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta 👍

Good intro to Brazilian cuisine - but not a cooking class

Jenica_S, Sep 2025
A good intro to Brazilian cuisine. Chef Ana was informative, and very knowledgeable but it wasn’t really a cooking class. We had a group of 10 and the chefs did most of the cooking. It was a lovely experience and lunch was delicious but I think the title is a bit misleading. The venue was changed last minute as well with no explanation so it was a temporary set up outside. I would suggest having a proper cooking station per person so everyone can experience the ‘cooking’ aspect.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hi Jenica, thanks for your feedback. We have been working with this current setup as we have realized not everyone wants to cook the whole time... so have a few cook tops and bbq grill allows for everyone get their hands busy as much as they want without forcing everyone to stand and cook for a few hours. This allows for people to balance "cooking" with "socializing" during our class. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again at one of our food tours and cooking classes around Latin America.

Great cooking and learning experience

Kim_B, Sep 2025
Flavio was our guide and chef. We started the day at a boutique shop that offered local delicacies and liquors. We’ve learned quite a bit from the shop owners Flavio, then met us for a market tour, where he introduced us to a lot of produce and cuts of meat that were new to us. The cooking class was a true learning experience and we enjoyed the company of others from Costa Rica and Brazil. We learned quite a bit about local dishes, ingredients, and culture. This is a very enjoyable way to introduce yourself to Brazil and to Rio.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Flavio’s market-to-studio flow is exactly what we design for curious food lovers: boutique finds, owner insights, then a market tour that opens your eyes to new produce and cuts. Finishing in the kitchen with a cooking session that brings people from Costa Rica and Brazil together is the kind of cultural exchange we love. Thank you for noting the learning and the company, it’s a thoughtful way to get introduced to Brazil and Rio. Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

This Could Be A Great Experience, but Issues Need Addressing

Cathy_W, Sep 2025
This class was Fair overall. It was different from other cooking classes we’ve taken in our travels. It would be much improved if the organizers rented out an actual cooking school or restaurant kitchen for this tour, where all participants could see the instructor and all the dishes being cooked and be able to participate as a group on proper food prep areas and stove burners. Additionally, a kitchen would also allow for more wash stations for instructor and students to frequently wash hands. And having available and promoting use of cooking gloves would help to maintain cleanliness and sanitation. It was observed that some participants were touching their face, hair, table, etc., then putting their hands directly into dough and other dishes, without washing in between. Sanitation should be prioritized to prevent spread of germs and infection. We did enjoy the experience, as there was a great group of participants. We enjoyed learning about them, their culture, their travels, and received great tips from them for our Rio trip. I think if the above issues could be improved upon, this could be a great overall experience. As is currently, I would not recommend this experience to others.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Hi Cathy, thanks for your feedback. We remember you, as you asked for fish fillets during our picanha steak class, which we did accommodate. Our culinary patio has a sink, where you and everyone washed their hands, and you also saw hand sanitizers on the tables. No one in any professional cooking situation cooks with gloves unless they are worried about the smell of garlic and onion on their hands or they are touching people's food right in front of the client, like Salt Bae. So in that sense we have gloves for those who are worried about the smell, but we don't enforce it. We do have an assistant to our instructor that goes around making sure that everything is cleaned right after it's used, as sanitary conditions have always been important to us. We hope to see you again! cheers Cristiano

We met at this gourmet...

Shanice_G, Sep 2025
We met at this gourmet cafe / market with a curated selection of items. Perfect meeting spot to start the experience. I will say the market tour was moreso a grocery store not a farmers market so I was surprised about that. Ana was a great teacher and very informative. The class was a good group and memorable experience.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Thanks for the thoughtful note! Ana’s market-to-studio format aims to be both efficient and informative. We're glad the teaching and group vibe made the experience memorable and we hope you still enjoyed the market and discovered some local goodies to take home. 🛍️ Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Great course in spite of bad organization

Michael_W, Jul 2025
This cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio de Janeiro, and our guide and teacher, Ana, was lots of fun, full of energy, and very knowledgeable. We had a wonderful meal and plenty of caipirinhas that we helped prepare. Highly recommended! The only issue is the inconsistent communication from the organizers. They repeatedly asked about a date for the course that we had already changed. One week before the course, they wrote an email saying “see you tomorrow”! One day before the course, they wrote "see you 10:45 at the market". In the course description, they said that the course began at 11:00, and that the market tour was optional. It turns out, the course does not begin at 11:00, and it is not "optional” (which implies that it causes extra). The tone of their emails was not apologetic, but rather one of irritation. I want to emphasize that none of this was Ana’s fault. If you can bear through this poor organization, you will be rewarded with a wonderful cooking class.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thanks for the review and your kind words for Ana our instructor. Regarding our booking notification, we had a few glitches last week as it got disconnected from WhatsApp, so some messages got duplicated. As for the 10:45 start time, we have added another establishment where we do some tastings before we do the optional supermarket tour, where we explore Brazilian coffe types, rums and chocolates. Hence the new start time. We hope you enjoyed it!

Good food, good vibes

Elaine_H, Jul 2025
Amazing tour with fruits and the cooking class was fun! Erica really explained the food and how Brazilians cook the food. She is organized which makes everything super smooth, and you receive all the recipes. My only recommendation is that we all have burners to cook parts of the meal so that all of us are a part of the experience.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thank you for joining our Rio cooking fiesta! We're so glad you enjoyed the fruit market and the class with Erica, she truly brings Brazilian flavors to life. Your suggestion about more hands-on burners is appreciated and helps us keep improving the experience. We're thrilled you found it fun and well-organized, and that you left with new culinary skills and recipes to take home. 🍍 Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

This was an amazing experience! Not only is the food delicious, but the chef instructors are personable, knowledgeable, and very engaging. Food is a great way to bring people together, and this class truly does that with its participants. It's a very easy process to book with clear instructions about how to get to the location, and you'll leave full of great food and memories.

Gracious host and enjoyable tour

victor_v, Apr 2025
Great experience but too much alcohol was served. One middle aged couple consumed two bottles of hard alcohol between the two of them. It was disgusting to watch. The amount of drinks should be limited to a reasonable amount.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the tour and appreciated our gracious host. We understand your concern regarding alcohol consumption and the impact it had on your experience. Our aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, and we encourage responsible drinking. We continuously review our beverage offerings to ensure a balanced experience for all guests. If you have any further concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We truly value your input as it helps us refine our services, and we hope you’ll consider joining us again for another memorable culinary adventure. Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Not Really a Cooking Class

Michelle_M, Apr 2025
This was quite an enjoyable experience, but it wasn't really a cooking class. Although we helped to prep the food (cutting up vegetables, adding seasoning, etc.), we did very little actual cooking. I would also have liked a handout of the recipes, to be able to recreate them at home.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Michelle_M! We’re glad you enjoyed the overall experience. Our class is designed as an immersive journey into Brazilian flavors, focusing on hands-on food prep and interactive learning. We understand you were hoping for more actual cooking time and a recipe handout. I'm happy to let you know that for classes since last Saturday, a PDF with recipes is now provided. Your input truly helps us improve, and we hope you’ll join us again for another memorable culinary adventure in Rio! 😊🍽️ Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Fun Evening at Cooking Class!

Kyle_S, Mar 2025
Had a ton of fun with girlfriend and a friend. We learned how to cook very delicious food. My favorite was the pincanha and garlic bread. I now make Caiprinhas at home, a little dangerous haha.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thanks for joining us! Learning to cook great food with friends is always a fantastic experience. Picanha and garlic bread are classics, and we love that you’re now making Caipirinhas at home just don’t blame us for the extra refills! 🍹 Hope to have you back for another fun night in the kitchen. Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

we didn’t really cook, we...

Tyler_C, Mar 2025
we didn’t really cook, we just ate but we did make our own caprihainas. our time was moved up from what we booked due to i think the people we were doing it with needing to leave early.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for your feedback! We're happy you enjoyed making your own caipirinhas and experiencing the flavors of Brazilian cuisine. 🍹 To clarify, the class time was adjusted slightly (from 2:00 PM to 1:30 PM) not because other guests needed to leave early, but to allow you to prepare more recipes within the partial class you booked. Since your reservation included fewer dishes than the full experience, starting earlier ensured we could cover as much as possible without compromising quality, some recipes simply couldn't wait to be started later. We always aim to provide a great balance between hands-on learning and culinary enjoyment, and we appreciate your input. If you're ever back in Rio, we'd love to host you for the full experience! 🌟 Cheers! Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Underwhelming

Thomas_M, Mar 2025
Sweet group of people trying to pull off a cook out. Why 2 stars? Original start time was changed last minute; the place was crowded (too many participants); none of the food was prepped (from meats still in the store packages to veggies needing to be washed etc.). Seemed like a group of friends got together and decided to throw a last minute party. The best part was the conversations with participants and the organizers. Food was sub-par; loved our chef (he was trying hard), the grill needed to be warmer and more cleaning a prep stations were required. The food was undercooked and we went elsewhere to get our dinner.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry the event didn’t fully meet your expectations. Our aim is to create a lively, social atmosphere where guests can explore Brazilian barbecue techniques while connecting with new friends. We appreciate your acknowledgment of our chef’s efforts and the friendly interactions you had. If you have any lingering concerns, please reach out to us directly. We do offer a 24-hour full refund policy, just let us know and we'll process it immediately. Your feedback helps us fine-tune our experiences and we hope you’ll consider trying another one of our culinary tours in the future to show you a more polished side of Cook in Fiesta! Cheers! Wonderful experience and delicious food!

Farai_A, Feb 2025
This was such an amazing experience. The chef (guide) Carina was warm and friendly, and accommodated various dietary requirements within our group of about 8 participants. She taught a great class, in a nicely set up studio, walking us through mixing traditional Brazilian drinks, making appetizers, preparing a meal, and even a dessert! She made sure everyone got to participate. Additionally, she gave some great recommendations for things to do, etc. We also enjoyed getting to know the other members of our group. 100% recommended and I plan to try some of the recipes when I get home!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled you had such a fantastic experience with Chef Carina. 🍽️ Her warmth, attention to dietary needs, and passion for sharing Brazilian traditions truly made this class memorable. We're so glad you had fun preparing appetizers, a meal, and even dessert while connecting with fellow guests. We hope to see you again soon and good luck trying those recipes at home! 🌎✨ Maira - Cook in Fiesta

So much fun to hang out in the middle of a hot afternoon in the air conditioning and learn to cook a few dishes and drink a lot of caipirinhas!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

We’re happy you enjoyed cooking in the cool AC ;) learning new dishes, and sipping plenty of caipirinhas. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a hot afternoon! ☀️🍹 Cheers! Maira from Cook in Rio

A series of misses

Elyse_H, Feb 2025
Our cooking class was a series for mistakes and missteps. First, we went to the market tour and our guide went to the wrong location. It was very stressful to figure out why we couldn’t find our tour over WhatsApp. Once I shared our location, they realized the guide went to the wrong spot. We had to spend more money on Uber to get to a different location for the class than we were told too. This was a frustrating start. We never got our market tour, they offered it for after but we were too hot. The cooking class was moved from its indoor location to outside. Although we were shaded, we were in 85 degree F heat with 90% humidity next to a bbq. I literally almost passed out from heat stroke for being out there for 3 hours in the peak heat of the day. By the time the food was done, I had no appetite due to the heat and just wanted it to be over. They changed the recipes last minute too so the main draw for us learning from this particular vendor (the famous Brazilian cheesy bread) wasn’t on the menu. This was more disappointment. The food was good but no recipes to take home from what we made. Finally, these small classes are nice because you get to bond with and create community with people from other parts of the world seeking to experience Brazilian culture like you. We really loved the 4 other people that were learning with us. However, this day the team hired a marketing team and actor to film for their advertisement. This meant a random actor none of us could talk with would just swoop in at any point to stir, look like he was cooking at the grill, even eat with us at the end so they could get footage. It was very off putting. In addition, there were 3 other people with him filming and directing. The space is not that big and the heat with additional bodies was overwhelming. It was infuriating. Having them around cut off the community building and just really highlighted what a cog we were. We had no idea this would be happening before the class started. I had such high hopes and was disappointed from beginning to end.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Hi Elyse, Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry your experience fell short, from the initial market tour mix-up to the challenges posed by Rio’s recent six-day heat wave. To help everyone enjoy a cooler, more comfortable class, we've since moved our BBQ sessions to the evening. As part of our commitment to making things right, we'll issue you a full refund, as we do to ANYONE who doesn't have a 5-star experience with us... we believe this to be only fair, and hope to stimulate other tour operators to do the same.. We’ve also refined our scheduling and staffing to prevent similar issues in the future. We hope you’ll consider giving us another chance to show you Rio’s rich culinary traditions under these improved conditions. Cheers! Maira

Hayza was so amazing as a cook and an environment curator. She taught us how to make the meals and gave us awas so amazing as a cook and an environment curator. Good chef but not a interactive cooking class..

Chanty_M, Feb 2025
It was a good experience but it was not a cooking class The chef and team cooked and we made cocktails But the chef was very nice and informative about the dishes I would say it was a lunch and learn not really a cooking class. So a little deceiving in the title.

Great tour!
