Ziggy was great! A complete gentleman. We are a group of 5 ladies with a total off 15 bags and he didn’t allow us to off load any of the bags and It was pouring rain .

Our driver, Siggi, was fabulous. He picked us up at our hotel on time and drove us to our Elding Whale Watching tour. On the way I asked him to slow down as we passed the Sun Voyager sculpture and he not only slowed down but pulled over so I could snap a photo! I thought that was very kind of him. He also picked us up after the tour and was just as nice. He helped my husband (with limited mobility) into and out of his van.

Emma communicated by txt several times before meeting us in hotel lobby and assisting in loading bags. Private Volvo direct to airport. ALWAYS book a private car and avoid Flybus which requires two buses (thru bus station), long waits for all buses, and bus stops rather than door-to-door pickup. Be warned! Spend a few more shekels to get better service. Viator seems cagey about telling you the actual company with which. you are contracting.

Professional driver, arrived early. Was waiting for us in the hotel lobby. Carried our bags to the vehicle waiting outside. Vehicle was clean and presentable, driver was dressed smartly and very pleasant. Chatted along the way from the hotel to the cruise terminal and was knowledgeable about the area being a true Icelandic. Definitely would have no issues using Viator again for a private transfer.

We were waiting curbside at our hotel 5 minutes before our meeting time. Our driver was not there. We waited 20 minutes past our meeting time, trying to contact our driver without success. We had to email our tour company that our driver was not present while frantically looking for any taxi to get us to our cruise ship dock on time. My son ran one block down and around the corner to find a taxi who came to pick us up. As we sat in the taxi, we noticed that my name was on the taxi display, and this was our driver. He never asked who I was. He was merely thinking he was picking up a new fare, as he only asked us where we needed to go. This was at 25 minutes after our scheduled pick up time. The booking site states that the driver will wait 30 min and then consider you a no show. I am certain that he purposely waited in the wrong location to erroneously claim that we were an “no show” our paid reservation and then picked us up thinking that we were a new fare. During the drive to to cruise dock, his company called him. In the conversation I could only understand my name, they were calling him regarding the email we had sent while we were waiting. After he got off the phone, he printed me a receipt for the reservation that had my name on the receipt. When he dropped us off at the cruise terminal, he asked me for a credit card for payment. I told him that I already prepaid for this transfer. He said, “Oh yeah, okay.” Unbelievable.
Please do not book with this company, they are unreliable and tried to scam us out of our paid reservation. We were 30min late to the cruise ship dock due to the unprofessional nature of this company. Truly horrible.

We take this matter very seriously, and after reviewing what happened, I would like to provide some clarification and transparency:
The private driver originally assigned to your transfer was unfortunately delayed due to a prior airport pick-up that ran late — a situation that can sometimes happen on exceptionally busy cruise days like the 18th of July. Our operations team, seeing that your cruise boarding time was approaching, made a judgment call to urgently dispatch a local taxi to ensure you could reach the pier in time.
This was done with the best intention of not risking your boarding window — however, we fully understand that it created a confusing and frustrating situation, especially since traditional taxi drivers operate very differently from our private chauffeurs and may not follow the same identification protocols.
We acknowledge that this last-minute solution did not reflect the level of professionalism and clarity we aim to provide, and we are truly sorry for the stress it caused.
As we did not deliver the service as promised, we would like to offer a full refund for this transfer. Please reach out to our customer service team at support@icelandhighlights.zohodesk.com, and we will process it promptly.
Once again, we sincerely apologize and hope you were still able to enjoy the rest of your time in Iceland. We greatly value your feedback, and we will be using this experience to strengthen our service coordination and communication in the future.

Driver was on time. The van was clean and comfortable. There were no problems at all. It was much easier with our group than using the bus transfer and we were taken directly to our hotel in the city, rather than a nearby bus stop
