Amazing tour

Danielle_L, Dec 2025
Absolutely amazing tour. The behind the ropes access to the Strahov Library was amazing. Totally worth it. Our guide and driver were great. Highly recommend.

This was worth it for going inside the library itself! My friend and I were alone with our tour guide, Hana, in the library and she did an amazing job! We loved every minute. She was kind, explained everything to us and let us take so many pictures! My friend had to get to the airport so Peter, our driver, graciously drove her to the airport before tour ended! Both Hana and Peter were excellent and would highly recommend! Hana let us decide what we wanted to do after the library and we had a splendid time!

Amazing access

Jeff_S, Apr 2025
No question this is a very expensive tour, but it gives amazing access to the library. My wife is a librarian and loved this. We felt very spoiled. It was nice to be picked up and driven directly to the library. We had plenty of time inside the library, which was great. It did feel a bit odd being inside as groups only got to peek in. We asked to deviate from the standard tour instead to be guided around the Prague castle. After the library, the driver brought us to the castle where the guide toured with us. As time was expired, we explored on our own. We could have been driven back to the hotel but wanted to explore the lesser town.

A must for Praha

Amazing opportunity. It is clear how much they care for their historical legacy. To be able to walk inside the library and imagine how in times past it was used is a wonderful experience. Hanna our guide was very sweet and knowledgeable. Customized and timed our tour to perfection. We visited the castle, cathedral and gold lane afterwards where we learned a lot about their importance for the Czech Republic. As it was the Epiphany (January 6) she showed us a special incredible nativity as per our interest that otherwise we would not have even known it existed.

Up close & personal with the books

We are lucky with this private tour we get to go inside the Strahov Library while others stood behind the gate to view the library from the outside. What an experience!

Awesome

The quantity & age of the books & the detailed woodworking & desks. A very impressive collection and tour.

Great Custom Tour!

Willa_B, May 2019
Three friends and I booked this tour earlier this month and we could not have been more pleased with the friendliness, knowledge, and flexibility we received from our guide, Kevin, and our driver, Peter. They picked us up at our hotel promptly on schedule and took us to the Strahov Library where we had our private tour, complete with historical knowledge of what we were seeing. This library is a definite must-see when visiting Prague. We then toured the monastery grounds before deciding we would like to spend our remaining time at the Charles Bridge. They were very accommodating to our desires on this trip and it was such a wonderful way to see beautiful Prague. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour to others. You will not be disappointed! Thanks again, Kevin & Peter!

Dear WBarnes, We are so happy to read about your fully satisfied customer experience, and your very kind words. Thank you very much, for taking time and posting this sincere & appreciating review. Yes, the private tour of the magnificent Strahov Monastery Library is absolutely a MUST to do, while visiting Prague. We are so happy for you that, you've experienced this private tour, with full satisfaction. I will tell Kevin & Peter about your appreciation, and I am sure they will also be very pleased to hear that. Thank you very much, and we hope to see you in Prague, once again.

A special privilege at a very high cost

James_J, Apr 2019
A rare chance to enter the museum like rooms that are spectacular. Visiting the Monastery this way made it one of our top Prague experiences.Charming guide and excellent driver. The balance of our four hours were well spent. The cost was very high especially in the Czech Republic. It was worth it for us but perhaps not everyone at the cost. If you have the cash it is a great indulgence.

Finally have the time to write a...

Finally have the time to write a long overdue review for our wonderful tour with Pavel and Petr in April. I feel that this tour is not advertised enough, and my father and I truly had an excellent time. The tour is fully customized, starting at a time of hour convenience. After being picked up in our Mercedes, the day begins with a private tour of the beautiful Strahov monastery library. While throngs of tourists looked in from a distance, we had the library completely to ourselves. This is an experience you simply can't get from visiting on your own. To see the art and artifacts up close in person was truly a treat. After this excursion the rest of your time with private car and guide are fully customizable. We had the option of going to Prague castle and Vysehrad, however since we had already visited these well known attractions, our guide made some great suggestions. We had wanted to visit the Prague Loreto, which was our next stop and was truly a pleasure, no tourists, beautiful. The between the Loreto carved house, 6000 diamond monstrance and life size crucifix of Christ in a gown, the gallery and church were full of great art and oddities. After this we took our guides suggestion to visit the Church of Cyril and Methodius, the site where the Nazis gunned down the assassins of Reinhard Heydrich, plenty of WWII history and memorials to the heroes. We never should've visited this church without the great suggestion of our guide. Never did we feel rushed. This tour should be advertised more because it is truly excellent. Never did we feel rushed, and really got to see some off the beaten path attractions, however please note you will be ferried in style to any attraction of your choice with a licensed driver and guide. I could not recommended this tour enough, excellent tour company and excellent guides. Thank youso much Pavel for a wonderful, memorable time. This was one of the most memorable days of our trip!

Prague is perhaps the most beautiful...

Jeffrey_R, Jul 2016
Prague is perhaps the most beautiful city in Europe if not the world. The eastern European countries were pleasant surprises for us. Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovenia were beautiful. The people were friendly and helpful, the cost of goods were affordable, and the cities and country sides were lovely. Viator arranged a private showing of the Monastary and their libraries for our family. I knew that Viator had arranged a tour for our family but when we arrived the people shut down the place just for us and we received a guided tour of the entire place, We felt a bit uncomfortable as other people were looking in from the hall as we toured. But it was amazing. The libraries are used in many films like James Bond and more recently Outlander Season 2. Prague as a city is iconic. The downtown area is highlighted by a cobblestoned plaza complete with outdoor cafe's and decorative shops. Breath taking city.
