Itinerary
Begin with pickup at your Prague accommodations at the time of your choice, then travel to Kutná Hora in a private vehicle. Learn about Kutná Hora’s Middle Ages history as Bohemia’s second city, and about the silver mines that helped it prosper. Visit the Church of St. Barbara to see Bohemian gothic architecture at its finest, from medieval frescoes of everyday life to the elaborate peaked roofline.
Explore some of Kutná Hora’s narrow streets on foot, then continue to the Royal Mint, where Prague’s Grossus coin was issued by King Wenceslaus of Bohemia. If desired, descend into the medieval mines, where silver for the coins was extracted by hand in terrifying working conditions.
Make a final stop at the Bone Church, also called the Sedlec Ossuary, which is decorated with bones from the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people. Stand beneath the staggering bone chandelier, which contains at least one of every bone in the human body, and learn how the macabre chapel was designed by a 19th-century Czech carpenter. After visiting Kutná Hora, make the return trip to Prague, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
Admission to the Bone Church, the Church of St. Barbara, and the Cathedral is 185 CZK for adults, and 130 CZK for children, students, and seniors. Admission to the silver mine is 120 CZK for adults, and 80 CZK for children, students, and seniors.

We had the absolute best day in Kunta Hora with Petr. He was personable, fun, and extremely knowledgeable. The Bone Church is clearly a bit macabre, but Petr made it interesting and fun for our family. We appreciated the pacing of this private tour, and the assistance with lunch, as we have many food allergies. It was reassuring to know that someone capable of communicating was looking out for my kids. Petr’s lunch choice and recommendations were amazing! This was the best tour of our trip and we would highly recommend it.

Chose the private tour so we could customize the day a bit and it worked out perfectly. I took my two teenage nephews & we had a great time! Jan was an excellent tour guide with great historical perspective on the places we visited. The bone church is a absolutely mind blowing when you let it sink in... totally worth the long drive from Prague!

Biggest disappointment of our trip. Mostly this was a transportation service, not a tour. We had stated that there was a baby on this excursion. I guess somehow the information did not make it to the driver so our baby did not have a seat for the entire 3 hour drive. The driver was nice, but didn’t share much info
at all. Our family would’ve been safer and far more engaged if we had rented our own vehicle vehicle and driven or used public transportation.

Overall, beautiful tour… the Bone Church is incredible. And the other sights interesting as well. My only issue is that the guide, although a delightful young man, was on the inexperienced side and didn’t offer as much in depth information about the sites as I could tell from other groups doing the same tour. Pete Kotlar is the guide that you want for this tour! He is a fascinating guy and he went out of his way to make sure that we learned as much as we could about the places he took us to. At the end of the tour, he even gave us a list that he had put together of his favorite restaurants, places to shop, etc. I felt that he really went above and beyond by doing that (and by how he treated us during the entire trip)! He made sure that we were walking at the pace that we needed to be walking at and he gave us plenty of time to take pictures and ask questions. He truly was fantastic! As for the tour itself, it was great. At first, I was hesitant about booking this tour because I didn’t think that I would have enough time to visit The Church of the Bones, but Petr made sure that I had all the time in there that I needed so I was really glad that I did book this tour. The town we visited was very neat with its silver mining history and the cathedrals were beautiful. I definitely recommend booking this tour and, if you do, please make sure to ask to have Petr as your guide!

Peter was an amazing tour guide!! We traveled with my parents this time and this was their first private tour experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable providing us with a wealth of knowledge of the sights we were seeing and the surrounding areas. Petr was absolutely wonderful. We know a lot of history, but he showed us more. Very interesting tour. My husband couldn't stop talking with him on the drive to and fro, about all kinds of subjects. He asked if we wanted to eat at a place he recommended, we agreed. And V Ruthardce turned out to be a great restaurant, not a tourist trap. We would recommend Petr Kotlar to everyone, very highly. Pickup was easy. Highly recommended!

The real star of this excursion is the Bone Church, but that’s a maximum of 15 minutes of your time. Maybe they should offer a 2.5 hour version of this tour. Drive out for an hour, see the unique church for 15 minutes and drive back for an hour. This being a 6 hour tour just felt like a lot of filler.
In addition to the Bone Church, we went to see St. Barbara’s cathedral. While it is large and has some beautiful elements, I would squarely put it in the category of “you’ve seen one large European church, you’ve seen them all.” And walking around the town and having lunch in Kutna Hora barely registered on the interesting scale. I feel like our time would have been better spent exploring the city of Prague.
I would recommend this guide and company for a different excursion, but just don’t think the town of Kutna Hora is worth 6 hours of anyone’s time.

Natalia was a lovely tour guide who made the trip out to Kutna Hora the ideal 1/2 day outside of Prague. She is very knowledgeable and engaging throughout the entire tour. We learned a lot about Kutna Hora and more about the history of the Catholic church and the Czech people. It was the perfect way to take a break from Prague and tour in a calmer, less populated area.

The guided tour is worth the time it takes to get there. We visited the Bone Church and Santa Barbara church. Both were exquisite and beautiful. The history of the churches is also the history of the people. It is so worth taking the time to visit. We had the best guide, Petr, who was so helpful and knowledgeable about the history. He also took us to a great local restaurant and we had authentic Chech lunch and yummy dessert. Highly recommend.
