Our Douro Valley cruise was unforgettable! We went the day after my wedding with 9 family members and it was the perfect way to celebrate. Our guide, Rui Jesus, was incredible. He was so kind and helpful. He answered all of my family’s questions about the vineyards along our river cruise route. The cruise itself was beautiful, and the authentic Portuguese lunch afterwards was absolutely delicious! This was definitely a highlight of our trip!

Nice views. Maria did a great job. Sadly dock was closed in Tua so had to cut cruise short(in terms of how far we went)

The cruise was great — we were created by the captain and served a glass of sparkling wine; our guide joined us soon after after setting up the boat cushions. Our guide, Jesus, explained what we were seeing g in both Portuguese and English. He stayed us during lunch and then made sure we were able to get on the train back to Pinhão— a great experience!

Everything went smoothly and the tour started on time! Maria was amazing! She did a wonderful job telling us of the sites we were seeing in the Douro area where she grew up. Lunch at phenomenal restaurant exceeded our expectations!!

We chose this excursion because it was 3 hrs, thought the boat portion would have been longer and more informative. I think the other 4 people had to catch train back to pinhao so we rushed to the train stop so they could catch that train.
The lunch was needless to say long and over the top too much food. It was a traditional lunch, sausages ( seemingly undercooked), small fried fish that looked like large sardines - we were told to eat all of the fish meaning head tail and bones! The usual bread, cheese , olives and dried meat. A salad, and the main course, I had the cod and husband had the lamb. Ridiculous amount of food. We weren’t aware of any lunch details, but had we known it was a traditional lunch we would not have included it. The other four people on the river boat excursion obviously did not include the lunch so it was possible. The people were very friendly and proud, but just not our scene. We then took a short train back to Pinhao.
Maria was very friendly and accommodating. I feel as though she could speak more about the wine and the history, I think she wanted us to ask the questions, we had a lovely day and was enjoying the sunshine and being on the river. I suppose it wasn’t specifically a wine tour, however, it did include wine on the boat. I suppose I assumed the whole thing would be higher end, at approximately $110 per person. The lunch could’ve been reduced by an hour and the boat ride could’ve been increased by 30 minutes! And maybe something more special in the way of wine on the boat. The train ride back was very local and we enjoyed some local older men playing a harmonica next to us.
Again, I thought Maria was very good, but could be more knowledgeable about the Douro valley wine industry in general …
Didn’t really communicate with the boat captain.
If I were to do it again, I would prefer an electric boat, which is more quiet and maybe would allow for more speaking.

Definitely not what was advertised. Boat ride and train combined was one and half hours and lunch was not on the boat and the restaurant had no view of the river.
For the cost it was not a good value.

The experience was personal in a small group. Cruising on a comfortable boat captained by Ricardo in a beautiful region not seen by car. Delicious authentic lunch followed by a short train ride back to starting point. A young lady, Maria was our leader. She spoke excellent English and was very personable.

Nice leisurely trip down the Douro River. It was just the four of us in the smaller boat. Much better than being on the bigger tourist boats. Train rider and lunch were great! Leandro and Telmo were great guides.

The whole experience was so much fun, loved being on the boat, taking the train ride to and from the restaurant. Our lunch was magnificent. The spread was incredible, so much to eat, so much choice and we were so well looked after. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Portugal!

We had a great time, the trip was nice and the guide was friendly. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and for 1h30 we admired the beautiful landscapes of the Douro with explanations in French of the guide. We continued with a short train ride and ended our adventure in a restaurant whose food was excellent!
