Outstanding! Our host Chef PJ was the best. Not only did we learn how to find high quality food in Paris, but also how but food shaped the formation of Paris and Montmartre. My two teen boys loved all of the food and drinks that we sampled, both at Chef PJ’s small restaurant and along the tour route. Spending time with Chef PJ was the highlight of our visit to Paris!

PJ showed us all the best local shops around the neighborhood and how to spot the best products in France! We started with croissants and coffee and then hopped around to a butcher, a cheese shop, a wine shop, and ended at his restaurant where we tried escargot, a beef stew, and lots of wine and cheese! It ended up lasting about 9 hours instead of the 5 we booked! We couldn’t have asked for a better time and highly recommend booking this for your trip. Thanks PJ!

Chef PJ is at home among friends in the Montmarte district of Paris. As we walked, stopped, sat, savored, and laughed, we were plied with food and facts of the tastiest variety. Chef PJ is very knowledgeable but never stuffy, exuberant but always the host, responsive without condescension, and tres tres fun. Throughout his food tour Chef PJ greeted friends while telling us about the history and artistry of French eating. All along the way he would stop at local shops and buy a cheese, a chocolate, a sauce, a pate, each item finding a home in one of his pockets. When we reached the end point we were escorted into his restaurant where a delightful meal appeared in stages, each stage graced with one of the treasures he’d stowed in a pocket as we walked. Wine, snails (quite good even for a first-timer like me), boeuf bourguignon, and so much more. A one-of-a-kind tour with a one-of-a-kind chap. Total plus.

Chef PJ’s Montmartre food and wine tour was the highlight of our trip to Paris. He began with fascinating stories about the neighborhood’s history, then led us to a patisserie, butcher (boucherie), wine shop, and cheese shop (fromagerie) — each exceptional. Back at his restaurant, PJ prepared an unforgettable multi-course meal featuring escargot, boeuf bourguignon, desserts, and fine wines.
The “five-hour” tour turned into eight hours of great food, wine, laughter, and learning. PJ is a colorful character — formerly in the French Navy and now a chef and restaurateur who seems to know everyone in Montmartre. If you want a genuine, entertaining, and delicious taste of Paris, this tour is a must.

Chef was informative about the history of Monmartre (and Paris in general). He explained the wine and food standards of France as he toured us through the neighborhood, taking us to different establishments. He did a great wine presentation at his restaurant and everything was done with humor… he’s quite an entertainer/character and Monmartre is lucky to have him!

PJ is passionate about his Montmartre neighborhood where he lives and has a restaurant. His historical knowledge of the area as well as his food knowledge is vast. He is a teacher at heart and believes in passing on his knowledge. We toured neighborhood shops and were educated on how to tell if the products sold are quality or for the tourists. Then had a fabulous lunch accompanied by various wines. A small intimate group. We left feeling like family. I highly recommend this experience.

This was undoubtedly the best food tour we have done in Europe. We learned so much about the history of Paris, Montmarte, food and wine from Chef PJ who was brilliant and passionate. Having him cook for us in his restaurant was a very special experience with amazing food and wines. We thought we had booked a 5 hour tour but enjoyed his company for 9 hours! A wonderful immersive must do experience - absolutely the highlight of our trip! Can’t thank Chef PJ enough for his generosity and creating such a special day for our family that will be treasured.

This is more than a tour. It’s an introduction to a neighborhood and to history through the fiercely proud eyes of a local. The tour is engaging, fun, nonstop laughter and ‘wow i never knew that’ moments. Small shops, big hearts. sample sweets, savories, wine, and PJs home cooking. Opportunity to buy some treats, and make new friends. Take a day off from the monuments and have yourself an experience! So much fun we overstayed our welcome :)

Chef PJ was awesome! We did this our last day in France. PJ is super knowledgeable about the history of France and the entire area. After learning about where/how to buy ingredients he took us back to his restaurant where he wined and dined us before a quick stroll for local treats. 10/10 would recommend but would recommend doing earlier in your trip because it may change how you view/enjoy your time in France!

Along with exceptional food and wine tasting, Chef PJ gifted us with a tour detailing the history of and life in Montmartre and provided insight to cooking exclusively with fresh, local ingredients. The tour begins with coffee and delectable croissants, guides us up and down the streets featuring groceries, wine, and cheese. The finale is a meal at Le Petit Moulin, Chef PJ's restaurant, featuring excellent food and wines, finishing with exquisite deserts. Make sure to leave room for the macaroons!

The others in my group became fast friends and together we had an unbelievable day with PJ. PJ is a man about town…it seems everyone in Montmarte not only knows PJ, but absolutely loves him. By the end of the experience, you will without a doubt understand why. He pours so much love and passion into his neighborhood, his food and the overall experience that he brings to his visitors. We had an amazing experience with Chef PJ. We immediately felt immersed & at home in the neighborhood. As you walk around learning so many fascinating things, you can see how much the community loves & respects PJ.
We learned so much from this tour. PJ is very knowledgeable & is open to sharing anything & everything with you! We learned how to shop for local goods such as olive oil, butter, cheese, meat, & wine. Also, about the history of the neighborhood & how to taste wine if anyone ever invites us to their personal wine cellar. We asked him many questions on recipes, cooking tools, drinks, etc. We could have talked to him for days & not run out of things to chat about.
His restaurant is amazing. I know it is out of the ordinary from other food tours & I see a bunch of reviews mention stopping at the restaurant. It almost detoured my boyfriend & I from selecting this tour out of the many offered because we wanted to be out & about to see as much as we could, not sit at a restaurant! However, PJ does a wonderful job of showing you the full neighborhood of shops, butchers, other restaurants in the neighborhood, bakeries, etc before seating you for a delicious & intimate meal at his restaurant. It is truly an original experience.
We left this tour with so much more knowledge than we came in with even though we have both been to Paris many times, been to many wine tastings, & have taken many food tours.
It’s easy to say that this has been our favorite.
Thank you to Chef PJ for teaching us so much & letting us into your beautiful world. You are a gem & so is your lovely neighborhood. We will cherish our time & the knowledge you shared with us!
