Overview

We only pick up at Panama City hotels. Those hotel in nearby area such as Westin & Dreams, Playa Bonita (in Veracruz) or Gamboa Rainforest are not serviced regularly. We can arrange pick-up and drop-off from hotels outside Panama City usually 30 minutes prior to Panama City hotel specified pickup time, and usually at a cost of $ 25.00 per person each way.

Itinerary

Begin with pickup at your hotel in Panama City, then travel east of the city to the Mamoni River. On your way to the launch point, visit EcoFarms Panama, a conservation organization that preserves tropical rainforest in the Mamoni River area, and pass through remaining strips of primary and secondary rainforest, now important sites for research into tropical biodiversity.

Water levels in the Mamoni River fluctuate seasonally, from an annual high in November to the low-water point in April or May. The river guide will choose boats based on the water level: groups use smaller, 11-foot (3.35-meter) rafts and inflatable kayaks from December through February, inflatable kayaks from March through April, then rafts and inflatable kayaks from May through June.

Paddle through moderate to intense rapids, with a few portages at impassable points, including a scenic Class V+ waterfall that's a highlight of the Mamoni River. You’ll reach the takeout point after plenty of river time, then dry off for the return trip to Panama City. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

A most amazing adventure. Javier picked us up at our hotel and we drove to the put in on the Mamoni River. We rode at least 2 dozen rapids, climbed around some dangerous ones and had a great lunch consisting of luncheon meat and cheeses so we could make our own plus fresh fruit to go with the lunches. After lunch we rafted several more rapids and were able to jump in the river and cool down all throughout this awesome trip... We saw monkeys, Toucans, lizards, bats and all kinds of jungle animals and of course the fauna and flora.... Check out Adventures Panama on Facebook for videos of many other rafters. When we return to Panama City, we will definitely do this rafting trip again. Thanks to Javier and his crew. They were top notch and wanted to ensure we had a safe but adventurous experience...
