If you're going to do a tour of Pompeii and Vesuvio, do it this way. Our driver Luigi was prompt, very friendly and went out of his way to book us a wonderful lunch reservation at a beautiful winery in between sights. The food was delicious! It was a great break in between excursions. Our guide Italo at Pompei was fantastic. We skipped a very long line and had the perfect tour of Pompei. Italo was very knowledgeable and we saw everything we wanted to during out time. Highly recommend doing a private tour it was so nice to be able to get such a personal experience at such a fascinating location of history. Climbing the top of Vesuvio was also a great cap to the day. Incredible views from the top and brought the whole story of Pompei together. Highly recommend this total experience!!

We really enjoyed our tour of Pompeii with Italo. He did a great job of explaining the different aspects of the site, making it very interesting and easy to envision. Our driver, Luigi, was prompt, friendly, and also explained some sites on our way to and from Pompeii. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Fantastic Guided Pompeii Experience

Our tour guide was wonderful for all ages and knowledge levels. Lello (not sure on the spelling) was able to keep us all interested and guide us to the highlights of Pompeii from age 10 up to me (with a degree in archaeology). He didn’t pander and didn’t give us the old stories, but gave us up to date information about what is happening at an exciting and ongoing archaeological excavation. Marco, our driver was also lovely. He told us about the towns we passed through on the way from Sorrento and arranges a wine-tasting lunch for us as well after our visit to the summit of Mt. Vesuvius.

This was an excellent tour. A driver was waiting outside our apartment and took us to the Pompeii park where we met our certified guide Itelo who had excellent English. We skipped the ticket line. Pompeii is too large to see everything but were happy with the parts selected by Itelo and he gave us great explanations of what we were seeing and how it related to ancient Roman life. Next we met our driver who took us to Vesuvius with a stop for a perfect lunch [our cost] and then to the park where you can walk up to the rim. It's a fairly steep climb of 45 minutes for us. After the driver got us back in town. Recommend it highly.

An awesome Pompeii, lunch and Mt Vesuvious experience

We really enjoyed both our driver Umbesto and our exceptionally knowledgable tour gude Ileana. A 20 year tour guide, she personalized our tour with insteresting facts. We can tell she loves her work and the history. We especially liked the scheduled break between Pompeii and the Mt Vesuvius hike. It allowed us to be taken to the Bosco de' Medici winery at the base of Mt Vesuvius for a superb tasting menu lunch and wine tasting. The site grown tomatos in the pasta were unbelievable in taste. The Master Sommelier "Sir King" Anthony was a gracious host for us. We ended up purchasing wine to ship back home! The personal tour is well worth the money. We were able to gain immediate access to the Pompeii site and Umbesto was able to drive us to the base of the hike where only tour buses and vans are allowed.

We had an absolutely amazing day yesterday. Our driver Francesco was very friendly helpful patient and punctual. Our guide at Pompeii Italo was very engaging and knowledgeable. The two hours flew by which you know is a great sign. He answered every question and did a great job showing us the highlights of Pompeii. It was just enough not to feel overwhelming but we felt like we got a good sense of such a huge place. Lunch was amazing. They were able to accommodate our food sensitivities which was a huge bonus. Overall I can’t say enough good things about our day with Francesco and Italo.

Beautiful views from Vesuvius, good guides, and then incredible memories and so interesting trip due to the proffesionell Pompei guide Elena. Also the driver Paulo was punctual and careful whilst driving, yet flexible and had good recommendations for lunch at a wine yard, as well as local knowledge. We can only give the highest recommendations to these service minded, friendly and execellent professionals.

Paulo was a great driver-on time, friendly, drove well. He took us to Pompeii from Naples where we met Stefanii, our private guide in Pompeii. She is very knowledgeable about Pompeii. She told us she has a degree in art history and won a competition to be a guide in Campania. As a guide, she was able to go to the front of the long line and we got in right away. Stefani gave us many details about life in Pompeii and really was animated in her descriptions and brought Pompeii alive for us. Wish we could go on other tours with her. Paulo picked us up and took us to Mt. Vesuvius and told us about the park. He was able to drive us to the parking lot where you can walk up a half mile-very steep with switch-backs and a dirt, pebble wide path/road. My chacos were not the best choice of footwear -I advise closed shoes. It was very hot, and a struggle for those of us not in shape, but definitely worth it for the views from the crater. Paulo was waiting for us when we got down and took us to a great little restaurant for lunch. No buses, good food, great views. He then dropped us off back at our Airbnb. A great day. Highly recommend the tour and Paulo and Stefani.
