Stop at Marienplatz, the city’s main square since 1158, and find the Old Town Hall, one of the city's most beautiful buildings from the Gothic era, and the Rathaus-Glockenspiel. Also, see Munich’s famous watering hole, Hofbräuhaus — a festive 3-floor beer hall dating back to the 16th century and Frauenkirche, a church that serves as the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
Throughout the tour, the guide will provide ample information about Munich’s past and present. It’s a great introduction to the city of Munich and all that it offers its visitors and residents alike.
Then, learn about the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany’s Third Reich while visiting many of the locations that were key to that time period. Munich was the city where Hitler rose to power and many of the Nazi party’s policies were conceived here.
Witness the historical sites associated with the city’s Nazi era. See the building where Hitler first joined the Nazi party. Discover the former headquarters of the Gestapo and visit the place where the infamous Beer Hall Putsch, also known as the Munich Putsch, took place in 1923. This was a failed coup attempt by Hitler and other party leaders to seize power in Munich.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was great seeing the places where the rise of the nazis occurred. Highly recommend.

Had a great guide. He knew Munich like the back of his hand. Set a good pace and tailored the tour so we saw the things we wanted to see and cut out the normal church stuff. Great job!

We had an informative and terrific tour guide . His name was Jax. We got a late start because of a problem I had but he graciously gave us the whole tour. He was great.

this tour was amazing and surpassed our expectations. Our guide was the best! He was from Ireland and so very pleasant. He was not only incredibly courteous but very information and knew his history of Munich. We invited him to have lunch with us and his presence added richness to our private tour for 8 seniors on our first time in Munich. Bravisimo!!!!!!!! I cannot remember his name but he is from Ireland and so informative. HE is a keeper for sure!! Thank you.

Our tour guide was suppose to meet us at 2:00pm. No one showed up. I called the tour company and they sent another guide at 4:30. (2 1/2 hours late). By that time, most all the church's were closed, therefore we missed a lot that was promised on the tour.

Loved this tour! Our guide was very informative on the history of the city. The private tour is well worth the extra money. We will definitely use Viator again.

This was definitely a highlight of my trip to Munich. My tour was with Ian and his adorable dog, Bernard!. Ian was very knowledgable on the local history and as this was a private tour, it was like having a chat with someone, rather than just listening to someone ramble on. It was only a two hour tour, however, we covered a lot of the city.

A wonderful tour to book on the first day to orient ourselves. Our guide Anja was terrific, knowledgeable and personable. In addition to sites and history she clued us into the surfers on the river off the English Garden!

We enjoyed this tour very much. Mark was very well informed and answered our many questions. It was a great experience and would recommend him to others.

Our young journalist tour guide made our walk through Munich very enjoyable and we all came away with a better understanding of the area and what historical events shaped Munich.

This tour helped to orient us to what Munich has to offer including sites that we would have otherwise missed. Our tour guide was nice and knew the city well. This is not a tour that really includes the Third Reich however, and our guide was hesitant to spent much time on the topic. He spoke about Hitler's rise to power for about 5 minutes and then moved on. I would recommend a trip to Dachau or a visit to the National Socialist Museum in Cologne for more about this piece of history.

We had a young Scottsman as our tour guide. He did not share much history with us. He had very little information. He ended the tour 45 minutes early and left us in the middle of the city. He did not ask if we needed help getting back to our hotel. He would skip centuries in two sentences. We have used Viator on many occasions and never been disappointed. It was a waste of our time and money.

The private walking tour of Munich was fantastic. Our guide Anja was great. She kept us entertained for the three hours. She was very knowledgable which kept us asking questions. She informed us on all of the history of Munich. When the tour was over we felt we could get around Munich on our own and knew about the city. That is just what we wanted. Thank you so much

This tour was interesting and a great introduction to Munich. Unfortunately, we waited Until the end of our stay to go on the tour, so we had already walked by and seen many of the sights on the tour already. I recommend it for your first day in Munich. A private guide helped to personalize the tour. Daniel was very friendly and took a great picture of our group!

Good tour and guide pleasant and knowledgeable. Wish e had more time to really enjoy the city more

After a rocky start due to a miscommunication of exactly where to meet, we had the most amazing trip. Thank you to Steve Whitehall and the people at the tour company as well as the sweet hotel clerk at Hotel Schlicker. Steve was amazing as he continued to surprise us with all he knew about the Third Reich's role in the area we are in. We learned so many things and he was a wealth of information as well as being armed with old photographs that made the stories come alive. W ended the trip dining, and drinking with him in a historical pub that was off the beaten path of tourists. Thank you so much for everything!
