If you like riding trains for 5 hours plus round trip from Munich, this tour is for you. Hardly any time spent seeing any sights. Our guide was very good at describing the history of Nuremberg, just had no time to see anything. All in all, a total waste of time and money.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Lee, we are sorry to hear that this tour was not for you. Yes, Nuremberg is a 2 hour train ride, which we assume you will know when booking a ticket.
We are glad to hear that your guide was good, which is why you go on such a tour. Safe travels

The guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I would do this tour again and recommend it to everyone.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
John, thanks for the recommendation of your tour to Nuremberg with Radius Tours, greatly appreciated.
Julio_A, May 2026
Our tour guide Paul was fantastic. This is a historical tour that goes into not only the ancient history of Nürnberg but also into the details of WWII and how the Nazi party came to be. Paul showed us the major landmarks and we had plenty of chances to take pictures. It is fast paced and we covered a lot of ground. Easy walking surfaces. We even had a 1 hourbreak to eat lunch (we paid ourselves, but sat as a group). If you enjoy learning the historical background of a city, this is for you and Paul is your guide!
Response from Host, May 2026
Julio,
Thank you for this outstanding review of the tour in Nuremberg. We are glad you had a great expereince with Paul.

Lots of walking and the [no a/c] bus that takes you from one side of the town to the WW2 sites was swelteringly hot on a 75-degree day. If warm, dress lightly.
Response from Host, May 2026
Gerry,
Thank you very much for the review, recommendations and advice. This is great.

Jason was an absolute delight. He was very knowledgeable about the sites we saw in Nuremberg and he gave us plenty of time for lunch at the Bratwurst Röslein restaurant.
Response from Host, May 2026
William, glad you had a great day in Nuremberg with Jason.

This was a wonderful full-day tour with a fantastic guide, Elisabeth. We were a small group and she was able to provide a lot of one-on-one conversations with each of us. She gave us so much information about the history of the areas we visited, and took care of the timing so that I never felt rushed yet kept on schedule to catch the various trains that were used. We had an ample break in the afternoon to get a quick lunch and spend some free time in the city square. All in all, a wonderful and informative way to spend a day.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Yvonne,
thank you for taking time to write a review!
We are happy that you had a ncie day in Austria with our guide Elisabeth :)

Never travel on a regional train on a public holiday in Germany. The experience was worse than disgusting. Overcrowding is putting it mildly.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We appreciate your honest feedback that you shared on the tour you joined with us. Easter indeed can be very busy and do apologize for the trains being so crowded, as it was paired with the most beautiful weather that day, making the trains even more busy. I am afraid we have very little influence on how busy trains are, and we are sorry that this reduced the level of happiness on the day that you joined the tour. Sorry for that!
Thank you for your understanding .
Christopher_A, Apr 2026
This tour has some interesting elements, but the overall design is fundamentally flawed and not worth the time or cost in its current format.
The tour runs approximately 8 hours, yet nearly half of that time, around 4 hours, is spent on slow regional trains. After touring Nuremberg city center, you’re then put on an additional 20-minute bus ride to reach the next site. After the walking the parade grounds, you then have another short train ride to return to the Neumberg train station. In reality, this is less of a guided tour and more of a long, inefficient sequence of public transportation transfers.
The return trip is particularly frustrating. Because the itinerary relies on the last train back to Munich, seating is not guaranteed. Most of our 23 member group were forced to stand for the full 2-hour journey back, of which 9 decided not to return because of the claustrophobic nature and prolonged standing, which is unacceptable after an already long and exhausting day.
The pacing of the tour is another major issue. It is extremely rushed, with no scheduled breaks for bathrooms or a proper meal. We were given about 20 minutes to explore the main market and church, and were encouraged to grab food during that same window, which is simply not realistic.
While the first portion in the medieval city had potential, it lacked depth. There were only a handful of stops with minimal historical explanation, leaving much of the experience feeling surface-level. The tour guide was also not allowed to accompany us inside the church to give further historical context.
The second half of the tour was even more disappointing. The parade grounds are largely under construction and appear likely to remain that way for years. As a result, this portion turned into a long, uneventful walk through open space with very little to see. The historical context provided was extremely limited, essentially reduced to two key points: uncertainty about the site’s future use and its past role related to Zeppelin launches. That’s not nearly enough to justify the time spent there.
Nearly our entire group of 23 people expressed that they would have preferred to skip this portion altogether.
To be fair, our guide, Juana, was excellent, professional, personable, and doing her best within the constraints of a poorly structured itinerary. The issues here are not with the guide, but with the design of the tour itself.
Bottom line: until the company makes serious structural changes, reducing transit time, improving pacing, and enhancing the depth and quality of the experience, I cannot recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Christopher, thank you for sharing your honest feedback with us, which we do appreciate so that we can always try to increase the level of satisfaction of guests on our tour. That particular day it was the easter holidays, paired with stunning blue skies, just made the city super packed as well as the train, which we apologize for deeply, although we unfortunately have very little influence on this.
Carol_R, Apr 2026
This tour begins and ends with an almost-2-hour train ride to and from Nuremberg. Once there, the tour moves at a very fast pace. (You have to be able to keep up.) Although you are offered options to split from the group, they don't make sense to me if you booked a tour. (Might as well take the train there by yourself.)
We happen to go on Good Friday. So, the market and all the retail stores were closed. (We could have used that information ahead of time.) We had six solid hours of nonstop walking and sightseeing. There was no time on our own (except an hour for lunch). If the market and stores were open, there wouldn't be time allowed to visit any of them. And we had an extra hour on the tour because our return train was leaving an hour later.
We spent 2 hours at the Nazi rally grounds. It was great that our tour guide had a Ph.D. in the topic, but it was overkill.
There should be some way to offer the tour with a little free time built in without telling folks they can go off on their own and meet back at the train station for departure. (Why book a tour?)
Having pointed out the negatives, if you toured on your own you would not be able to identify the important monuments nor get valuable information about them and on the town's history.
And Achim offered just that. He was personable, knowledgeable, and very opinionated---all good things. But he needs to slow down a bit. Even with a small group, at times he took off and didn't look back until he got to his next destination.
When I suggested that the tour needed to build in some more personal time for the tour goers his response was "you can't have your cake and eat it, too.''
Really? Why not?
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Carol, thanks for taking the time to review your tour to Nuremberg with Achim and Radius Tours. Glad your day was not boring.

Even tho the trains didn’t cooperate today our guide Sarah made the best of it. We didn’t make it Nuremberg because of cancelled and delay trains. Sarah stepped up and gave us an awesome tour of Munich and we got a refund for the original tour. If there were 10 stars I would rate our day a 10.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thanks Brian for the 5 star review of your almost tour to Nuremburg. Sorry for the hassle, and glad Sarah stepped up to the mark and saved the day!
Nikhil_G, Dec 2025
The city experience is interesting; tour guide was helpful in pointing out the old parts of the city and provided the history of reconstruction. I valued the visit to the rally grounds and the contextual information about it. It answered many questions I've always had.

Where to begin. The tour was described as leaving time for lunch in Nuremberg. Nothing could have been further from the truth. First, the tour starts at 10:30 leaving virtually no time to do anything. After a two hour train ride our guide, Achim, left the train station going 100 miles an hour. He never looked back until he hit the street. There were 23 of us on the tour. Thankfully everyone managed to keep up. Once we got into the old town, he was rapid fire at every stop. When we finally got to the middle of town, he gave us two choices. Either stay in town for a couple of hours and meet him at the train station or go on with him to the Nazi parade grounds. There was literally 10 minutes in between. Two people did manage to get a sausage and eat it on the city bus to the parade grounds. Once at the parade grounds, it was hurry up and rush. Only eight of us elected to go to the parade grounds. Once finished, we learned our train back to Munich had been canceled. Our guide did find another train that left around the same time but because the people that stayed in town had to make it back to the train station on their own and because the train got canceled he lost five of the group. They did not make the other train back and for all we know they got stuck in Nuremberg. You would think that the Guide would have put us all on a WhatsApp group or given us his personal phone number since he separated the two groups and left the one group to get back to the train station on their own. I’m sure they had no way to contact anybody. I can’t imagine how pissed off they were. I can’t wait to read their reviews. We finally made it back to Munich only a half hour late. If you want the most rushed tour that you have ever been on with absolutely zero free time for lunch or whatever and a two hour train ride each way, this is the tour for you. I have used Viator all over the world with great experiences. This is the absolute worst tour I have ever taken with any tour group anywhere. Don’t waste your money. And pray for those poor bastards that got left in Nuremberg that they made it home safely.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Louis, thank you for sharing your honest feedback on the tour you joined with us to Nuremberg. We have spoken to our guide about the situation and will ensure that actions like this will not happen agian in the future.
We deeply apologize and can ensure you that this is not the quality we want to stand for.
Katie_R, Nov 2025
Good historical information about Hitler and WWII, but tour guide was abrasive, impolite and egotistical. It’s was obvious he did not like Americans.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Hi Katie, thanks for taking the time to review the tour, and glad you got all the info required. We take such a review very serious, as this is not the opinion of the company, and should not be of the guides either. If you could be so kind as to send us per email the name of your guide, we would like to follow up on it, thanks www.radiustours.com.

The document center was closed. It should not been included in the tour when i purchased it. So I paid extra for nothing

This was a day tour involving travel by train between Munich and Nuremburg. Our guide Sarah was very informative who managed to do a very good job of giving our group a condensed history of the city. The city has a good combination of modern and medieval buildings the latter of which is very interesting.
Travellers should be mindful of the fact that the city is built on hilly ground and need to take care if they are prone to joint issues or have any respiratory conditions.
Response from Host, Oct 2025

Very well scripted tour - our guide kept us organized between trains and shuttles - not sure how he kept track of us.
Great history lesson and honestly gave us new vision around world war II - much different than taught in school.
We made some new friends and hopefully future plans for Germany!
Great job!

Wonderful, we are very happy that you had a great day in Nürnberg with your new friends. All the best from Radius Tours

The day trip to Nuremberg from Munich was fantastic. Jason was a perfect guide. He was deeply knowledgeable about Nuremberg’s history, from the Middle Ages to the present day, and very engaging in his presentations of the information. The city is fascinating, and, especially in the Old Town, beautiful. The stops were well chosen and the timing was nice—not too rushed, but not dragging in any one spot either. My husband and I wanted to see a spot that was not scheduled as part of the tour, and Jason was incredibly helpful in enabling us to do so over the lunch break, going out of his way to make it easy. Highly recommended!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi Karmen, thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review on your trip to Nuremberg with Jason! We are very happy to know that you were able to see everything that you had on your wishlist :)

I've taken many tours with Viator both in the US and abroad and have always had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I can't say that about this one. Our guide Achim looked like he just rolled out of bed, he was late getting the tour started so we practically had to run to the train station. Once on the train we realized there was no a/c and it was over 90 degrees inside. After reaching Hamburg he again was walking so fast that many on the tour couldn't keep up leaving some people over 100 yards behind. Luckily there was a tour trainee who stayed back to help them since he never even turned around to check. While on the tour he mainly talked about himself and his family history and his dislike for the US and Donald Trump. By the time he finished there was only about an hour left for people to go to Old Town to sightsee and shop which was what most had come to do. We only had enough time to grab something to drink and do a quick look around before we had to again run back to the train station, in the process losing 2 members of the tour who barely made it back to catch the train. The next time we saw him was back at the station in Munich where he had his hand out looking for a tip, which I gave to the trainee, thank god for her.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you Michael for sharing your honest feedback. I am very sorry that the day you joined our guide was not up to level that should have been.
We will follow this up with our guide to ensure this does not happen again.
Thanks for your understanding.
Laura_B, Jul 2025
Would not recommend this tour to anyone. Start time of 10:30 was too late. The original tour time stated 8:30. Too much emphasis by the tour guide Achim on Nazi history and his personal history trying to convince everyone he was not a Nazi. Less than an hour in old town Nuremburg which did not allow for enough time to explore, eat and shop. Tour guide Achim would not wait on participants and kept a very fast pace making it hard for everyone to keep up. He left 2 participants behind at the rail station. We have taken a lot of tours in the past this one is by far the worst tour we have ever taken. Only reason we gave a one star is because zero was not an option.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you Laura for sharing your honest feedback. The tour did have a change in iteranary in February, which is where we had informed every guest about the change in departure time, due to a change in the Deutsche Bahn train schedule.
On the other note, we are sorry to hear that our guide did not resonate with you. We will follow your review up with him.
Thanks for your understanding.

Our tour guide Hein was nice but I felt he was not as knowledgeable as other guides we had on other excursions. We only had about 50 minutes to explore and get lunch on our own in the old section of nuremberg. Wish we had more time to do that. The rally grounds were a disappointment. They were run down and in disrepair. This tour was not what I expected and a disappointment. A four hour train ride to visit Nuremberg for about 3 and half hours.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thank you Timothy for sharing your honest feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had different expectations from the city of Nuremberg.
It is hard for us vouch for this, as the WW2 sites just are what they are 80 years later.

Carl the tour guide was awesome, a wealth of knowledge and extremely personable!
My ONLY suggestion would be for him to slow down, damn does he walk fast! lol
It was difficult keeping up with him all the time. Super nice guy!!!
Other suggestion would be to buy seats in the train! It is unacceptable that people in the group had to stand in the isle for over 2 hours to get back to Munich! That is crazy!!
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Heather,
Thank you for taking the time to review the tour. We are sorry the train trip was crowded on a commuter train, but cannot control that. As for 1st class seating we could always pay for the upgrade but would cost customers more...

The tour guide I had was Elisabeth and she was extremely knowledgeable about Nuremburg. I had no idea the full history of Nuremburg which is over 1000 years old and the tour/Elisabeth does an excellent job focusing on the total history of the city and the importance of the city throughout those 1000 years. I would highly recommend going on this tour.

Geoff our guide was great, so patient and he expertly guided our group into trains, buses trams etc. I mustn’t have read the description properly as I thought it was more of a WWII history tour but it was an old town Nuremberg tour, although we did see some significant WWII sites. Meeting place was easy enough to find (although we did walk past it twice without noticing it) Long day trip but interesting and good to see. Geoff knew a lot and went out of his way to ensure everyone was ok and help in anyway he could

Really torn on this one. For the amount of things that we saw, I understand why we just “flew by” things in the city vs stopping to see anything - but at the same time I felt like there was a lot of wasted time and not a ton of information provided. I would have rather paid more for the tour to take the high speed train vs taking cheap train with a transfer as that significantly ate into our time to see things. And once we finally got there we had to wait again to pick up people staying local. The tour guide was clearly not passionate about the city buildings/history compared to the Nazi Rally Grounds which is where his story telling clearly came alive (except for the sausages which he was clearly a fan of - and credit where credit is due…they were really good!) The other downside was to get to the Rally Grounds we had to hop on a local bus and drive 20 minutes. The Rally Grounds were definitely worth seeing, but just added to the feeling of disorganization that I felt encompassed the entire tour. We honestly almost didn’t even make it there as I was ready to bail and spend the rest of the day wandering around the old city. I’m glad we didn’t and stuck with it, but if you want to see a lot without going into churches, buildings, etc this may be the tour for you. For me, I think we could have potentially done it more efficiently ourselves without a tour group as the day just felt disorganized and like there was a lot of wasted time and we would have had a deeper experience doing it another way.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Megan, first of all, thank you very much for sharing your very detailed review, we surely appreciate this to improve our services. In order to do that, would you mind sharing with us who your guide was and which day your joined the tour? As from your review alone we do not have any direct insight of which day you joined our tour.
The focus of the tour is to offer a relaxed day out to the City of Nuremberg, so if the experience cam across as rushed, this should not be the case and we very much apologize for that.
So if you could share these missing informations with me, this is most appreciated so that we can ensure that this is adressed with our guide.
Thanks for your understanding.
