With more than 20 holiday markets across the city, follow a guide through Munich's Old Town to explore the city's festive offerings, including Christkindlmarkt in Marienplatz. Itinerary

Your 3-hour tour begins in central Munich, where you’ll meet your guide in mid-afternoon and head out into the ornamented streets of Munich's Old Town. Make sure to bundle up until your first cup of Glühwein or cider (included).

Take in the scent of spice cake as you make your way to Christkindlmarkt in Marienplatz, Munich’s oldest Christmas market. Browse the stalls filled with toys, gifts, and homemade delicacies available to buy.

Continue to the Sendliger Tor market, followed by the Christmas village in Munich Residenz. Your final stop will be the Medieval Market near Odeonsplatz, where you’ll discover an ode to the Bavarian Christmas markets of the Middle Ages. See performances, medieval buskers, colorful costumes, and handicrafts for sale.

Along the way, learn about the history of Munich’s centuries-old markets and Christmas traditions from your guide. You'll also be treated to several snacks along the way, including lebkuchen, a gingerbread-like cookie that has been a Christmas staple since the 14th century.

Your tour ends at the Medieval Market, where you can continue exploring on your own.

Walking through Old Town Munich and Christmas Markets

We walked all through Old Town Munich learning about the history of Christmas. Our guide Elisabeth told us many stories about Bavaria, Churches, historical landmarks, and the Christmas Markets. We sampled German gingerbread, stolen, almonds and ended the tour sampling some mulled wine with a sugar cube! We walked over 10,000 steps in 3 hours! Some of us needed a bathroom break but we never stopped until the end of the tour.

All other guests for the tour found the office perfectly fine and had a great experience on the tour over the christmas markets. We would have loved to have you around for that to experience it to.

Not expensive but not worth it either

Tour guide was nice. She quickly walked us through about 4 different christmas markets, but we didnt slow down to talk about the local foods or crafts or anything so dont plan on doing that on this tour. You’ll definitely need to come back and slowly walk through to see all the booths and stalls and unique foods and drinks. Not sure I would do this again. Preferred to stroll thru 3 of the mkts and the streets of Munich myself for 9 hours the day before so was able to take in so much more on my own. This tour didnt meet most of my expectations so I probably wouldnt do it again.

Lucy was amazing! We toured several markets all with a different theme. She explained all of the traditions that were on display at each market and what to eat and drink. Medieval, nativity and fairy tail each market was beautiful and unique. She also gave us a lot of history along the way. Well worth the time and money!
