Duration? Spot on. Educational? We got mega-schooled. Exceed expectations? Heck, yes. We met our charismatic, smart and generally lovely guide, Zeeshan, at the coffee shop which had good air con (thankfully!). Zeeshan took us across the train track over to Dharavi where we walked through the industrial and residential side, taking lots of stops to learn about the many skills and workshops within the area. We were even fortunate enough to be able to enter some workshops which was extremely humbling. It is not the experience you think (or, at least, I though) it would be. Everyone is busy playing their part in their work or home life and we learned more in those few hours than we have in a long time (culture, history and industry). We then got a train to Dhobi Ghat laundry which is a spectacular sight and unlike anything we see in our British lives. Luckily, we'd already had a train pass and been using them a few days prior but if you're new or nervous about the train, Zeeshan or your tour guide will no doubt be your first time support! To conclude, the only down side is that the tour had to end. We could have easily spent the rest of the day with Mr. Knowledgeable Zeeshan who we both agree is the best tour guide we've had to date! And huge thanks to Mohammad for amazing communications and answering my follow-up question! Cheers lads, back to Wales now :)

Amazing experience with our guide Rakesh

Amazing experience with our guide Rakesh! Rakesh showed us all the most interesting parts of the tour, including the famous Dhobi Ghat and the lively Mumbai slums. He made everything feel engaging and easy to follow, and his enthusiasm was contagious. He was incredibly polite, had a great sense of humor, and always had an answer to any question we threw at him, even the unexpected ones. His English was excellent, and he never felt pushy or overbearing, which is something we really appreciated. On top of that, Rakesh created a very comfortable atmosphere. With him, you feel less like a tourist and more like a welcomed guest being shown the city by someone who truly loves it. He tells stories in a way that brings the places to life, and it’s clear he cares deeply about his work. Absolutely one of the best guides we’ve ever had. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate. Highly recommended!

Brilliant! We enjoyed it so much!

My family and I had such a wonderful tour with Zeesham our guide. He was very kind with our 9 yr old girl. He answered many questions and guided perfectly making us feel safe navigating the busy roads and public spaces. I would 10/10 recommend this tour.

Zeeshan is an excellent guide and explained really well the context and history of the places we visited. He’s from Dharavi so his perspective was local and really full of details. He guided us with passion and love for his community. Totally recommend!

    Must do in Mumbai

I can highly recommend this tour. Our guide Faizan truly touched us with his stories and insights into Dharavi, offering us a comprehensive view of the working and living conditions there. Having grown up in Dharavi himself, he knows the area inside out and is well-connected with many of the locals we met along the way. After the slum tour, we took a short train ride (included in the price) to Dhobi Ghat, where we got an up-close look at the largest laundry and were greeted by friendly faces amidst the hustle and bustle. The experience with Faizan was more than fascinating. Even outside of the tour, he gave us valuable travel tips, so I can only highly recommend this tour.

Amazing insight to learn about the life of slum dwellers

    Pankaj_V, Jan 2025
I booked the tour online(27/01/25) and met the tour guide Faizan at the said meeting location. Faizan had a good command for English and he was easily understood. The tour included learning about how waste products get recycled in some shape or another; how they live in the huts making it their living and working space; We then took a short train ride ( which iOS included in the price) with the guide to the dhobi ghats. The dhobi ghat is a place where 1000’s and 1000’s of pieces of clothing come from hotels, businesses and households to get washed, dried and sent back amazingly without loss of items to the owner. We cannot come to really appreciate the way life is for these people but coming on this tour will make you appreciate it

    Exactly what I hoped

Very interesting and fun tour given by the guide: Alkama. Lots of facts about the district itself and fun anecdotes. Compliments

La visita è stata molto interessante. La nostra guida era preparata e molto disponibile. Alla fine del giro con molta gentilezza e pazienza ci ha aiutato a trovare un taxi. Ottima esperienza sotto tutti i punti di vista.
