The private walk enabled us to go at our own pace. Be advised that part of this walk is a steep incline. We are in our 70s, so our guide, Donald, made sure the pace was gentle.
Donald was an exceptional nature guide. He is a teacher of ecology in a high school and his passion for the flora and fauna of Monteverde is apparent. And what an eye he has! He found a black sleeping monkey against the black sky. Found a sloth slowly creeping on a branch as well as insects and frogs.
Nice tour. Informative. The tea and cookies before we began the tour was a nice touch.
Property is family-owned, not a big park or preserve.

I forgot the guide's name but he was great ! Very knowledgeable and passionate. Other groups are doing the same kind of tour so you often see beams of light everywhere which makes you feel you're more at the zoo than the jungle, plus sometimes it really feels like casting beams of light at the animals is bothering them / waking them up. Don't expect to see tons and tons of insects and animals, it's still wildlife so enjoy the ones you get to see and don't have unrealistic expectations.
