At first it seemed very scary, but once you get used to the feeling, you don‘t want to stop explore the forest and see more and more animals. Our guide Alan was very passionate about the wildlife and gave interesting information. He is a very open and kind guide.

This experience was great! Our guide was knowledgeable and did a wonderful job with our youngest daughter. He communicated with other guides so when they came across something cool they would share with each other so each group could see. We saw a porcupine, crickets, spiders, a butterfly, a scorpion, a walking stick, tons of leaf cutter ant colonies and so much more!

Great experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and we learned a lot. The hike was not challenging. My 8 year-old daughter and 66 year-old mother had no issue navigating the trails. My daughter LOVED seeing all the bugs. Our guide was so great with her. It was a highlight of our trip!

Junior is a genius coffee and wildlife expert. My girlfriend and I had the best time. I didn’t realize the coffee tour was included so that was a nice surprise. We learned so much about coffee and saw so many animals during the night tour including an armadillo, viper, some sleeping birds/turkeys and frogs. Lots of fun bugs too like the scorpions. 10/10 recommended

Well organized. Alan was attentive and enthusiastic. Saw several snakes, a kinkajou, birds and bugs. The hunt was exciting and safe.

Excellent night hike led by our very knowledgeable and entertaining guide Junior. We were able to explore the coffee farm in the dark and were fortunate enough to see a variety of night life such as eyelash vipers, several species of frogs and insects, and a night hawk. I would highly recommend this adventure to other guests visiting the area.

Junior walked us through the jungle around his coffee plantation. Incredibly keen eye to see The Red-Eyed Tree Frog, Kinkajou and many sleeping birds. The surprise was his knowledge of astronomy - showing us constellations, moons that are simply not visible where we live. He ground coffee beans for a cup so good we bought a bag. A perfect evening with a knowledgeable, kind and enthusiastic guide.

Alan was such a kind guide who grew up in the area and learned everything about the flora and fauna throughout his life. He is very knowledgeable and spotted animals super quickly. The tour felt very personal and safe, because it is close to a coffee plantation. We saw the most beautiful animals in a wonderful location and with the scope he brought we were able to see them up close. We saw a kinkajoo, toucan, owl, spiders, scorpions, all kinds of crazy insects, other birds, 3x bocaracas. Overall a 10/10 experience! Thank you Alan!!

This was an awesome experience! We did 3 night hikes in our trip to Costa Rica and this was the most prosperous one that we went on in terms of animals. Toucans, sloths, scorpions, vipers, tarantulas, you name it, it was here! Our guide was so awesome and had a really good eye

This experience was absolutely incredible! Our guide was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about nature. He used high-quality spotting scopes to give us an up-close view of a wide variety of animals and insects, which made the experience truly unique and educational. Everything was well organized, and the guide took the time to explain interesting facts about the species we encountered. Our fourth day in Costa Rica, and we couldn’t have chosen a better way to spend the evening! We joined a wonderful night tour at this local coffee farm, guided through the forest and fields where we spotted many fascinating animals. The farm owner’s family was incredibly kind — they invited us to taste their homemade chocolate, coffee, and bananas, all so fresh and delicious. Highly recommended if you’re looking for an authentic night tour experience in Monteverde, Costa Rica!

A wonderful couple of hours in the forest with Julian who was knowledgeable and engaging. He worked hard to try and ensure we got to see as much as possible. Every night would be different but we saw a Kinkajou, scorpion, tarantula, screech owl, several sleeping bird species, frog, stick insect and the highlight a surprisingly fast moving and jumping armadillo! All finished up with a delicious coffee or hot chocolate for the children(10 and 13). A wonderful experience in nature under stunning stars.

Junior greeted us with a cup of coffee from the plantation. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and animals on the property. He guided us on several trails. We saw many insects, a scorpion, a few different species of frogs, an eyelash viper, and a sloth. It was a great tour!

Our night tour with Axel was, without a doubt, one of the absolute highlights of our time in Monteverde — and something everyone should do while visiting! Axel is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the local ecosystem, and he made the entire experience so much more than just a walk through the forest.
We learned so much from him about the hidden wonders of the forest at night — from the tiniest insects to the larger animals that come alive after dark. Seeing a sloth up close in its natural habitat was absolutely magical! We also spotted a snake and so many other amazing creatures that we would never have found on our own.
Axel’s expertise, sharp eye, and enthusiasm made this tour unforgettable. If you’re in Monteverde, do yourself a favor and book a night tour with Axel.

We had a great time! Axel did a great job with our tour and clearly loves talking about nature/his country. He has a great understanding of nature and was eager to explain the things that we spotted.
He also took really excellent photos on his phone that he airdropped to us so that we didn’t have to all take photos.
We arrived a little early for the tour and made us some great coffee from the farm and explained a bit how the production works.

Beautiful tour through a local plantation. It ended up being just the two of us + our guide being the owner. He was great at spotting all types of insects, amphibians, and other animals. Not to mention the coffee grown at the plantation was delicious.

Due to the recent rain storm and calm night the animals didn’t really come out of their hiding spots. We saw some bugs and critters, and a snake tucked in a tree. Junior was the highlight for me! He made everyone laugh and is the experience you’ll be paying for!! Worth it!
Heard that others around town at this point also didn’t see much, I bet with the right conditions you could see a lot!!

We were very excited for this tour due to the great reviews, but it definitely fell short. We arrived early, but had to wait for 2 people who showed up late. We started late and ended early. It felt like we didn’t get the full time we should have. We were given flashlights that stopped working and the guide didn’t have extras. It ruins the experience of a night tour when you can’t see anything.
We did see a toucan, a scorpion, tarantula, viper from a distance and a kinkajou. We read in the reviews that there was coffee and hot chocolate provided, however we didn’t receive anything and were hurried out of there after even though we wanted to buy something. We didn’t buy anything as we were told to leave. Maybe bad luck, but definitely disappointing.

This was a wonderful tour, we had a small group and the guide was very informative and had a very sharp eye. In total we saw sloths, tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, frogs, and a variety of insects. A must-do if visiting Costa Rica and this was a great place to do it at.

Great time - the guide was pleasant and entertaining, and explained things as we were walking. Of course this isn't a zoo, so the wildlife could be hit or miss, but we saw a good variety of birds/mammals/reptiles/insects. One of the highlights was stopping on a clear hillside, turning the lights off, and seeing the beautiful, starry night sky spread out in front of us. Highly recommended!

Junior was an amazing tour guide! Super friendly and knowledgeable! We were able to see a sloth and her baby, porcupine, eyelash viper, scorpion and various types of birds and frogs! We finished off with a great cup of their coffee! Highly recommend!

Worth the 15 min drive in the dark from Monteverde town center. Saw several kinkajous, a Mexican porcupine, 2 armadillos, an eyelash viper, and several sleeping birds. Clear night with many stars and Jupiter with its moon in the sky. Also got to taste their artisanal coffee and learn how it was farmed, peeled, roasted, etc. Our guide was the coffee farmer and so fun, friendly and knowledgeable about everything from the plants to the animals to the astronomy of the night. We are nature lovers who did several guided hikes in the area, including 2 night hikes. This was the best one.
