This was a very fun excursion. The guide was absolutely incredible (and spoke multiple languages) - the chocolate and coffee processes were fascinating and tasty! On the trek through the jungle he found tarantulas and so many other frogs and insects👍

Good Tour

Donald_R, Feb 2026
The guide was VERY knowledgeable about both coffee and chocolate agricultural processes. He was passionate and patient with the 'dumb' tourists. The night walk in the rain forest was fine, but we had hoped for about double the length or more. Walked about 20 min...were hoping for about an hour in the rainforest.

Enjoyed Carlos’ excellent commentary! Delicious chocolate and coffee. Quite expensive for a 2 hour tour

Susan_R, Jan 2026
An excellent overview of chocolate and coffee production. Carlos was very knowledgeable and found us a sloth and tarantula- thank you. Overpriced - other night hikes we saw more variety.

We had a very windy night, not perfect for animal searching. Coffee and chocolate tours are pretty good with all procedures clearly demonstrated, quite entertaining with tour guide.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our tour guide was awesome and we really enjoyed learning about the coffee and chocolate.

A great multi tour option

Adrienne_D, Dec 2025
An excellent 3-in-1 tour with coffee, chocolate and a night tour. We learned a bit about the local techniques for coffee and chocolate and saw a few creatures during our walk including many pigmy frogs, a red eyed tree frog, a sloth and a tarantula!

Learned about coffee and chocolate processing. We were also able to taste different coffees and chocolate. The night tour was great. Guide knowledgeable and funny.

Be ready for rain and some alternate activities. All very nice! Wonderful guide and very knowledgeable.

Great tour

We were a little worried about this tour since it was raining and cold but our tour guide was excellent. He made sure we had a great time and took good care of us. It was a Great tour! Highly recommend

Barely adequate & forgettable

This would be a okay experience if it cost half as much (and maybe took half as long). The chocolate and coffee tours were really basic. You walked into a chocolate room, then a few coffee rooms. You ate some chocolate and coffee beans. It was an educational tour, but nothing exceptional and not worth the money. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I imagine (hope) you could do better. On the night tour, I think our guide was trying to find interesting things on the tour, but compared to other nature guides/tours we've had, this one was really just going through the motions on a track. You walk around the farm and see what you see, which I'm guessing is probably not much on most nights. I felt like we were aimlessly wandering through a rainforest farm in the dark with very weak flashlights. After about ten minutes, I was ready to leave. I wouldn't recommend this tour. It was very commercialized and had none of the spark of other tours I've been on. Your time/money could be better spent elsewhere.

Save your money

Wonderful guide. Loved hearing about how they make the chocolate. Didn’t get much info about the coffee and the night walk was sad. We saw a frog.

Good chocolate, bad night walk

Hannah_J, Mar 2025
The part of the tour about the chocolate and coffee was pretty cool. We really liked our guide. His English was superb. However, I do think this company is trying to do too much and is obviously focused on doing tours for money. I would highly recommend doing a night walk at a different place. This reserve was very small and there are a lot of visitors.

Great Value

Ritch_S, Mar 2025
Tour was very informative, learned much about chocolate and coffee growing and production. The night tour was OK (saw the first sloth our guide had seen on the property.). Also, very good that the tour is on gravel and paved pathways as it is quite dark. The combination is a great value for the price.

Night tour with coffee and chocolate!

Brenda_K, Feb 2025
3 tours for 1 great price. Our guide Luis was fantastic and was able to point out so many interesting creatures from the smallest frogs and scorpions to the hairy tarantulas and the cutest sloth! Luis made the coffee and chocolate tours so fun and interesting. Thank you!

Great!

Niklas_M, Feb 2025
Jorge was a fantastic guide! I realized how little I knew about coffee and chocolate. Night walk was nice but you mostly see spiders and frogs. However, we saw one sloth and eyelashed viper.

Exceptional

Sidharth_J, Feb 2025
The tour operator Jorge was really nice, knowledgeable and willing to go extra lengths to explain and show things to us. Really a very informative tour!!

Amazing experience

LiseAnne_B, Jan 2025
Very interesting, we learned a lot about coffee and cacao. The cacao tasting was delicious. Our guide was very knowledgeable and super friendly.

Did the coffee, chocolate and night tour. Enjoyed every minute!

Dawn_C, Jan 2025
We did the coffee, chocolate and night tour. Our guide Jorge was great. He made our tour fun and interesting. We enjoyed every minute. We saw spiders, frogs and snakes on our night tour which was very cool. At the end you can help yourself to coffee and delicious hot chocolate. Would do this tour again.

For chocoholics and coffee addicts

Katrina_S, Nov 2024
Rolo was an excellent guide! He was very entertaining. Samples were delicious. Was very rainy but still got to see lots of birds and critters!

Well worth booking

Jennie_Y, Nov 2024
Really informative tour which gave a great insight into the coffee and chocolate produced on site followed by a night walk which although absolutely tipping it down with rain, our guide still managed to find some inhabitants. Great pick up service as well with a great gift shop where you can stock up with their produce

Excellent evening activity

Stacey_H, Sep 2024
We went with my 2 year old nephew and Brendan our guide was so good with him, even gave him his own small flash light. We really enjoyed every part of the tour, learned lots about the chocolate and coffee process and got to try lots of different samples. The night tour part was great too. We saw a couple of toucans, spiders, a frog, some owls, and a sloth, plus another animal that I can’t remember the name of. Brendan was super informative all along the way, we really enjoyed the whole tour.

Seeing the sloths! And tasting the delicious hot chocolate. It's a tour I think everyone can enjoy. Thank you

Ideal 3 in 1 tour experience

Megan_C, May 2024
The tour was great. We walked through different areas that had cocoa and coffee beans at the different steps of their life cycle. Our guide made us delicious chocolate in front of us. It was perfect to us to get to experience both a coffee & chocolate tour and Monteverde night walk all in one! The night tour was about an hour and we saw a lot. Highly recommend a night tour in Monteverde because 80% of the animals are most active at night. Our guide was great and catered to what we were curious about.

Ok for chocolate but not for the rest

Tami_R, Mar 2024
Chocolate part was fun, coffee was pretty bad… night walk was ok.. too many people and too loud. People were VERY nice and knowledgeable

Fun

Jan_H, Mar 2024
Enthusiastic guide. Learned about coffee and chocolate. Saw scorpions, sloths, frogs and other animals

Great tour, but a little expensive

Benjamin_Z, Mar 2024
The tour was great. We had an excellent tour guide. The information about Costa Rican coffee and chocolate was fascinating. I enjoyed the sample chocolate and coffee. The night tour was ok. It was just around the Don Juan grounds. Plenty to see, but I wonder if I would have seen more further in the forest. Main reason for 3 stars is the price. Not sure how it compares to others in the area, but price seemed a little high for what I got out of it.

Cool three-in-one combo tour for coffee and chocolate lovers

Jasmin_L, Mar 2024
Good learning experience about coffee beans, chocolate, and some night wildlife in CR. We did have to find our own transportation to the tour location, but was able to enjoy free coffee of different roasts and types (and many bananas) as we waited for the tour to start. The group was decently sized and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us through the coffee making process. We also got to sample some different types of chocolate. This part however was not as hands on as we had expected (you won’t be making chocolate - the guide will do a demo for you). Finally, the walking tour takes you around the trails in the coffee farm. We got to spy on some cool insects and few mammals. Overall great value, informational tour

Night tour

Avion_B, Mar 2024
Our tour guide was really informative and detailed. He did well to make a fun and exciting experience for our tour group! I highly recommend it!

First Class Unique Experience

Jason_M, Mar 2024
Our guide, Geronimo, was super knowledgeable, personable and friendly. The entire company is first class. They will also arrange transportation for you at a nominal fee. There’s a bountiful gift shop of their products as well. It’s quite the experience - educational and extremely interesting. Would definitely recommend it.
