Itinerary

Your tour begins with hotel pickup in Mexico City in the morning. Board your private vehicle and head to the archaeological site of Tula with your personal driver and guide, who highlights the features of the Mesoamerican ruins. At this Toltec ceremonial center, learn about architectural innovations, including 16-foot-tall (5-meter) warrior statues, temple pyramids, and ball courts. Admire the use of sidewalks and stucco decor as you explore the site.

After a personalized look, continue to the Jesuit convent of Tepotzotlán. See the impressive chapel of San Francisco Javier, an example of Mexican baroque style. Marvel at the church entirely covered in gold leaf, see the nuns' quarters that feature samples of authentic clothing, and learn about the Jesuits' role during the Spanish conquest.

Following this brush-up with Mexico's past, you'll be dropped off at your hotel.

Choose this tour for pyramids without the masses and a gold covered church in addition

Tula is a very interesting site with its famous giant Atlantean statues as well as a couple of well conserved reliefs of the Toltecs. Unlike other archaeological sites we had the place almost to ourselves (our guide Carlos told us on the weekend it tends to get busier though). The ruins are located inside a national park, thus you get both to experience culture but also nature of this semi arid region with cactea and wildlife such as humming birds (and if you are lucky such as we were with Carlos you will get details about both aspects). The old jesuit college of Tepotzotlan is famous (and recognized as part of a serial UNESCO world heritage) for its amazing gold leaf covered churches and chapels. Be impressed by large retabels, stuccos and paintings. We chose the option with lunch and that was fine as well. Unfortunately the traffic was very heavy due to accidents, nevertheless our driver Cristian brought us smoothly from A to B and we were not rushed through any of the places despite running late in time.

Nice and interesting tour

Museo Nacional del Virreinato was very interesting. The adjacent cathedral was amazing. We also enjoyed the archeological site at Tula. Our guide was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable and spoke English very well.

Ramon was an amazing tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and fun. My family had a wonderful time trekking around Tula and Tepotzotlan. We learned about the history and culture of the Toltecs and the Spanish Conquest in great detail. It was our best tour! Thank you! Christian was also an excellent driver.

Having a guide is imperative and ours was the BEST

We scheduled our tour of Tula on day 2 of our trip to Mexico City. We had the place to ourselves and got great pictures. Our guide, Brenda, educated us from the moment she and Elecio picked us up. It was convenient that we already knew them from day 1 and they are both reliable and kind. Brenda is simply amazing. This site is not the most excavated but what has been revealed is incredible. Tepotzotian is a nice town and the museum is quite interesting, I can definitely say the guide made everything come together. Be mindful no drinks or gum chewing in the museum.

Fabulous

An outstanding day tour of the Tula site and the Iglesias de San Francisco at Tepotzotlan. Our guide and driver were both superb - courteous, knowledgeable and professional. I recommend this tour without reservation.

A fabulous private tour with a knowledgeable and friendly guide The Aztec and pre-Aztec ruins are fascinating. The cathedral at Tepotzotlan is beautiful in its ornateness even though the religious aspect did not interest me. Still well worth the visit.

Have always wanted to see these sites but there are no large, group tours. Decided to splurge on a private car. A little pricey but well worth it! Our guide Carlos and driver Anna were exceptional. Carlos extremely knowledgeable of archaeology, history, and culture. Anna the best and most patient driver I have ever experienced! I kept telling my husband to take lessons from her! These two sites are awesome and should not be missed! This tour takes all day so be prepared to return late. Water provided, take a hat!

Out driver Louis was very professional, had a very nice vehicle and knew best routing. Our Guide David Suverza was very knowledgeable, easy to understans, responsive and adaptable to our needs and tailored our tour to our desired experience. Tula is a different Temple experience from other Temples and is well worth the drive to it. Additionally David added info and pointed out points of interest on the way. Would recommend this tour and Guides to all.

We had an awesome time visiting the Toltec ruins at Tula and the Museum of the Viceroyalty in Tepotzotlan. The Toltecs were the successors to the Teotihuacan culture, and the predecessors to the Aztecs. If you are into Mesoamerican history, Tula is a must-visit location. If you are interested in the history of the colonial period, Tepotzotlan is a must. The Jesuit college/monastery, now the Museum of the Viceroyalty has an amazing collection and the Baroque church is stunning. You have a choice of places to eat and we selected Los Virreyes and we were not disappointed. The tourista menu has some great choices and includes dessert and fantastic café del olla. Our driver, Luis was safe and courteous. Our guide was Alejandra and she was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this trip.

Kellie_C, Nov 2016
This tour started out on point and above expectations from the minute we exited our hotel. We were greeted immediately by David, our tour guide and introduced to Vicky, our driver. Both were warm and friendly and made our experience wonderful from start to finish! David is exceptionally knowledgeable! His passion for the history of the details within this tour shows throughout and makes the experience that much better. We started the drive to Tula and were taught facts and history of the places we passed. Vicky is a wonderful driver. If you have ever taken a cab in Mexico City, you might have experienced some craziness! NOT with Vicky. Not once even in the craziest parts did I ever feel anything but relaxed. I wish she gave lessons... I'd have my husband take one!! Lol! Once we arrived, David gives another perfect presentation of the facts and history. We then set off to Tepotzotlan, where again David delivered a presentation that was informative and easily understood. THESE TWO SITE ARE A MUST SEE! After, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and Vicky joined us. It was like having lunch with family or dear friends. So, in the end, I recommend this tour. And I HIGHLY recommend booking it with David and Vicky!

This was a great day trip outside of Mexico City. Neither destination seemed to have a lot of tourists which made our visit even nicer. I'd highly recommend this trip. And our guide, Lilianna was very knowledgeable and personable.
