Maria gave an outstanding tour of Coyoacán and the life of Frida Kahlo. She was warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the history of the neighborhood and its cultural significance, which is rare and refreshing.
She brought the streets of Coyoacán to life with fascinating stories about its colonial past, artistic heritage, and how it became one of the most charming areas of Mexico City. Her explanations were engaging and easy to follow, with just the right balance of historical detail and local insight.
The portions about Frida Kahlo were especially memorable. Maria shared thoughtful context about Frida’s life, art, relationships, and lasting influence in a way that felt personal and human rather than the usual recycled trivia people cling to like souvenirs.
She was organized, friendly, and happy to answer questions throughout the tour. If you want to understand both the spirit of Coyoacán and the legacy of Frida Kahlo, Maria is an excellent guide. Highly recommended.

My wife and I enjoyed our tour of the Coyoacán neighborhood. Jordan was an excellent guide and a captivating storyteller. The historical tour of the neighborhood provided a lot of context for the visit to the Casa Azul. The visits to the market and food vendors gave us an opportunity to sample a variety of delicious foods from quesadillas stuffed with squash blossoms and cheese to design your own tostada. Highly recommend the tour.

Anyone can buy a ticket to Frida Kahlo house but the tour with Dey made it so much better! He had great energy, knew so much about the neighborhood and Kahlo’s life. It really enriched the whole experience! Worth every peso!

Had a great time and our guide Rolf was amazing! He took really great care of us and made the tour fun and memorable! Highly recommend!

Our guide Alex was amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable, he broke down the Frida's life and the history of the neighborhood in a way that made it interesting and relatable. The walk was manageable for the older members of our group and took us to lots of little spots we would have never found. Make sure to plan extra time after the tour to wander the market... it's a three to four hour tour, but an amazing foundation to build a whole day of adventure.

Great way to hear about the neighborhood, some history and sample some market bites! Jordan was charming, fun and kept the group engaged and moving along. The tour tees up the museum visit perfectly.

Our guide, Maria was fantastic! One of the best guides we have ever had. She made Mexican history come alive. We enjoyed walking around the town with her, the market visit, the food and the Churros. We are glad we saw the Frida Kahlo museum but Maria’s guidance and knowledge about Mexican history and Frida were the highlight of the day. Take the tour, you will not be disappointed.

Great experience! Dey was very knowledgeable and knew the history and culture of Coyoacán. He was a great guide and spoke of the history of Coyoacán in depth. Would recommend this tour and ask for him Dey!!

Maria was an INCREDIBLE tour guide!!! Me and my sister found ourselves hanging onto every word of hers! My sister even admitted to Maria how she hates history but found herself so invested and interested in what Maria had to share with us! Everything was perfectly planned, Maria is incredibly knowledgable and passionate and kind and it really made us fall in love with Coyacan and Mexico as a whole! I do not think we would have had the same experience if we didn't do this tour!

Coco is a wonderful guide. He leads a great visit of the neighbourhood where Frida Kahlo lived. The tour is very informative, and the pace is perfect. Plus you get to taste delicious food!
Robyn_C, Apr 2026
Coco was a fabulous guide! So knowledgeable about the history of Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo. He made the day so fun!

Enjoyed every minute. She was such a knowledgeable person. The group was also curated and a pleasure to meet.
Diane_W, Apr 2026
Absolutely wonderful tour given by Cedrela. Fab advance comms via WhatsApp, much appreciated. The day was a wash out with torrential rain and hail (!) but she pivoted well and took us to a beautiful hacienda for drinks and to talk about Mexican history and Frida, it was an impromptu informal art seminar in a picturesque setting. And what a privilege it was to be taught art history by a feminist, Mexican, doctorate level teacher who was as knowledgeable as she was passionate. We actually enjoyed this part of the day as much as the museum! Lovely group and delicious lunch too. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Our tour guide, Diego, was phenomenal. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about Mexican history, and his passion made the entire walking tour come alive. It was an unforgettable experience that we’ll all cherish for a long time!

Jeny was a wonderfull guide! She was full of interesting facts and her english was very good! She was attentive and fun! She guided us through Coyoacan for a few hours, with stops for food and drinks! We also visited a local market
chloe_p, Apr 2026
We had a wonderful tour! The walk was very leisurely and we stopped for food at all the right moments to keep my 9 year-old chugging along. Our tour guide (eek, I forget his name!) was lovely and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Anne_J, Apr 2026
Great tour with Jordan, who grew up in Coyoacán and had lots to share about his hometown. Really informative, from the history of the quarter, Mexico in general to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. The food along was great too.
Nicole_J, Apr 2026
A great overview of the neighborhood, several food, tastings in different spots, and understanding of the neighborhood and the big powers that lived there… As well as lots of information about Frida Kahlo. Alex was an excellent guide.
Garson_H, Apr 2026
Cidrela was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. I prefer less detail but I know others appreciated it!
Ashley_S, Apr 2026
Our guide Coco made this tour unforgettable. Beyond just walking us through Frida’s world, he brought genuine passion and deep knowledge to every stop—sharing the history of Mexico with the kind of storytelling that kept us completely engaged from start to finish.
What impressed us most was how he connected the dots between Frida’s life, the cultural landscape of Mexico City, and the living, breathing neighborhoods we were exploring. It never felt like a lecture; it felt like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares about this history.
If you’re visiting Mexico City and want more than a surface-level art tour, this is it. Coco is exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and makes you feel like you’re discovering the city with a friend.
Stefan_L, Apr 2026
Alex is a great guide, and powerful storyteller. The tour overall is highly complementery to the museum visit; it includes much about the history of the neighbourhood and background on Frida, without which the museum visit would have been much less interesting.
Veronica_N, Apr 2026
This was a 10/10 experience! Diego, our tour guide, knew so much about the history of Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. The tour didn’t even feel like 3.5 hrs, I had the best time! Highly recommend!
Isitri_M, Apr 2026
Coco was great! Full of knowledge and facts. Super fun! Would not have learned as much about the area if only did the museum.
Daniel_T, Apr 2026
The entire experience is an informative, engaging, yet relaxing one. Keep in mind you will walk and have a robust schedule, but it is done in such a steady rhythm that it makes you appreciate the greater area of Coyoacán, which only lends to the Frida Kahlo aspect of the tour.
From the history and architecture, to the gastronomy and visual arts, this tour puts you in the fabric that weaves Frida Kahlo, Hernan Cortes, Diego Rivera, Malinche, and other important figures to the oldest neighborhood in the city, Coyoacán.
All of this is not possible without our AMAZING tour guide, Coco. He was very engaging and knowledgeable, but so attentive to the group. You gotta give it up for him, he makes the tour that much more amiable and personable. Coco was our dude!!!
tmccoytx, Apr 2026
Christina M was awesome. She was patient, friend and knowledgeable. Would suggest the agenda include other food other than just churros, would not have eaten prior.
Sarah_R, Apr 2026
This was a fabulous tour. Meg was great. She was super knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in either Frida Kahlo or learning about the lovely neighborhood of Coyocan.
Henry_S, Apr 2026
Diego is the man, he was very knowledgeable about the area and the history. It was fun seeing everyone say hello to him on the streets, I got the sense that he’s well liked. So glad it did the whole tour- honestly the museum itself was the least interesting part.
Aarti_B, Apr 2026
Great experience with Diego. Informative and entertaining for our group of 6. We learned about the history of Coyoacan and Frida Kahlo's place in the neighborhood and enjoyed some great tostadas and churros along the way. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get a sense of Coyoacan without committing the whole day.
