Tolantongo was an amazing experience. I would definitely do it again. April was great and made sure we had all the info we needed. Just know there are a lot of steps, but it’s 100% worth it. You’ll be tired, but you’ll enjoy every second. Early access is a must, you can literally see the crowds rolling in throughout the day.

Had a wonderful time. Got there early enough to enjoy the springs with the crowds and left at a decent time to be the traffic back to the city.
Johanna_M, Apr 2026
Great day with all parts of the tour exciting. Adventurous and fun, with ample time to enjoy the experiences.

Totally worth the 4am pickup and 3.5 hr bumpy drive to the springs. It truly looks like a something out of a dream! Our tour guide Gerry was so friendly and had a great spirit. It felt like we had ample time at each spot. We weren't rushed at all, and he even brought water and snacks for everyone! 5 stars a around. This is a must-do experience.

Full of adventure! We loved every minute of it! The hot springs is definitely a must when coming to CDMX.

Ara made the entire trip feel seamless and incredibly well organized. She clearly knows what she’s doing- from timing everything perfectly to helping us avoid crowds and make the most of every stop. She genuinely cares for you like her own and makes sure you’re not walking unnecessarily or wasting any time. She was also the perfect translator I didn’t even know I needed. Thanks, Ara!

It was an absolute magical experience, from the driver to our tour guide. Ugo and Rick made this trip one to remember. Enjoyed every last minute of it.

This trip had the potential to be amazing, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by a serious issue with the driver. We were instructed to leave our belongings in the van, and after returning, we discovered our bags had been gone through and money was missing. There was even a knife left on the seat, which raised additional concern.
I will say the company responded quickly, refunded our money, and apologized, which I appreciated. Also, our tour guide was absolutely amazing—A+++.
However, this situation should never happen, and I hope the company improves security and oversight to protect future guests.

One of the most beautiful places i’ve experienced. Tour guide was geeat as well. Very fast and detailed communication.

The drive from CDMX is long, but this Viator tour is worth every minute. Tolantongo is a bucket-list destination, and the early start is key to beat the crowds. Our guide, April, was fantastic—super helpful and accommodating. A must-do!

This experience was AMAZING. We got there early and had our own pool. They gave us the perfect time for each activity. Maria and Mario were the BEST.

I wouldn’t call them “hot” springs…they were more like “fairly warm” springs and they were ok. I’m glad we went early in the day and in the middle of the week - there was barely anyone there.
But, the cave was the star of the show! The water is hot and the waterfalls inside and outside are beautiful. So many amazing photo opportunities. Even the tunnel experience was interesting. It challenged my claustrophobia but it was worth pushing through. Our guide April really made the experience for us. She gave clear and specific instructions and helped us get the most out of our experience. The lunch place leaves something to be desired. The pan dulce is great. Everything else we ordered…not so much.

This was a great way to see Tolantongo. Getting there early made a lot of difference and Ric made sure that each part of the experience was on time and that we had what we needed. He was a fantastic guide who was kind, thoughtful, funny, and knowledgeable.
The water shoes and cell phone case are necessary so don't skip them unless you have other good shoes for the water and that can walk over rocky uneaven terrain in the caves and river. The drive is very long and bumpy so be prepared with ways to stay comfortable in the van. Our driver did a great job -- that's just how the road is. It can be chilly there in the mornings for this early tour so be sure to bring a decent towel or even a bath robe for when you get out of the pools and caves.

Incredibly beautiful. Both relaxing and adventurous. Absolutely worth the time. Tour guide Max is the best

A great experience in the Mexican mountains and hot springs were very nice. Avril was a great guide. The driver navigated the hairpin curves like a pro! Would recommend this experience

Starts super early but definitely worth it! It was breathtaking :)
I especially like the guide, Ara, she was great!

This is a whole day tour but well worth it if you have time during your CDMX trip! Our guide Gerry was so kind, attentive, accommodating and extremely helpful. The nature itself is unparalleled and truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you get motion sickness this may be a difficult drive but Gerry came prepared with snacks, water and medications.

Very pretty environments and relaxing hot springs but you spend 6+ hours driving for roughly 1.5 hours in the water. Would have liked to hear some history or background of the springs. Worth doing, but the drive time required makes this tougher to justify for shorter vacations in the city.
Richa_C, Mar 2026
The trip started early but it's a good thing because you get back to the city by 5:30 as well. The road going there was a little bumpy so you really don't get much sleep so plan to just watch movie or something.
Damneek_K, Mar 2026
It was an okay tour. A bit disorganized due to the rainy weather. I wish the company would have informed me that it was going to be bad weather the next day, so I could have rescheduled the tour. Overall, the experience was underwhelming.
AnneKatrine_B, Mar 2026
Ok tour, it is a good idea to go early and there aren’t many people at the destination then. Car is unfortunately too small for people of above average height.
MacKenna_C, Mar 2026
Ara was an amazing tour guide! She went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable for us. Could not have had a better time.
Martijn_D, Feb 2026
This was soo nice it looked like national geographic or a movie , the ride was long but nice to see more of the mexico, the touring operator was very nice and professional, i would mary her.
Dana_P, Feb 2026
The hot springs were amazing and our tour guide Javier was the absolute best! He made sure we had a really good time and took great care of us. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to explore the area!!
Christopher_S, Feb 2026
The drive there and back is rough, but once you get to the springs and the waterfall it is worth it.
Anthony_G, Feb 2026
You wake up early so get some rest the night before.
Options available for full breakfast and pasteks for lunch.
Mun_Y, Feb 2026
Amazing tour with an amazing guide (Javier). He went above and beyond to accomodate our group and each person's needs. The hot springs were even more beautiful in person and we enjoyed our time! I would recommend this tour to everyone.
Cynthia_O, Feb 2026
When i tell you our guide was amazing and even the driver ! Highly recommend to go with ger leon and chucho as the driver! Provided us with water and snacks and not to mention he took so many photos of us. Made my experience amazing!
Alexia_V, Feb 2026
April and Abraham were great! Informative and accommodating. It was worth the early pickup. I wanted to stay longer at the spots but it is an express trip. Glad i signed up.
Breakfast was eh.
Sandra_D, Feb 2026
The Tolantongo Hot Springs are amazing! It was great to experience so many parts of it including the pools, the caves, and the river. The mountains that provide all of this are breathtaking. I have the experience a 4 because the company I got linked with has very uncomfortable vans for the 3 hour journey to and from the springs. Our guide did not offer much information about the area either. Lastly, the breakfast at the springs was disorganized. Our group had several errors either food delivery including some guests never getting things they ordered.
Again, I highly recommend the Tolantongo Hot Springs as a must-see area. I just recommend taking time to research the company you are choosing. There is more than one option.
